It seems that Southeast Kitchen is strictly takeout at this time. You can't even go inside to pick up your order, they bring it out to you. When you place your order over the phone they ask for payment - prices online are the same as over the phone so I just order online now. The food here is good and portions are fair for the price. The food is pretty spicy so I recommend going for mild unless you really want a good sweat. Red curry comes with a portion of fragrant white rice, a delicious combo. I always forget to ask them to take the bean sprouts off the pad thai - I prefer cooked bean sprouts so I ask for it on the side hen throw it on the pan before pouring it over my pad thai. Southeast wings and salt+pepper wings are both good. Next time I will just got for a 10 piece instead of 5 of each. I can't comment on the ambiance since they won't even let guests in the front door. read more

We used to eat here very frequently when inside seating and dining was offered. Really good salt and pepper chicken. We don't live locally so takeout is cold by the time we get home. Haven't been there recently. Sure hope they open the restaurant for dining in soon. read more

I found it hard to enter because there were lines and signs blocking the way. It felt strange and uncomfortable as a customer. Someone came out and asked if I was there to pick up an order. Then I learned I needed to place an order online. This was the first time I saw a restaurant run this way. The food was okay, but not very impressive. Whenever we come to visit we almost always come here. I love that they are open late because sometimes we're coming from the airport tired and hungry and just wanting to pick up something good without it being overly greasy. All the options are good. This is a go to for take out. It's far better than your average take out spot, but it won't break the bank. The food is good and always tastes fresh. My one complaint is I hate the pick up system where you have to call them from outside the restaurant for them to bring it out to you. Absolutely horrible!! The shrimp was mushy and the pad thai didn't taste like Pad Thai should. It was acidic and just nasty. They have a rope up at the front door like we are still in the middle of a pandemic and treat their customers as if they should be privileged to eat their nasty food. I would never recommend this place and basically they only stay in business because locally they are the only game in town. In the freezing winter and the rain they make their customers stand out side in the wet and cold weather to wait behind a rope to gather their food like it's a soup kitchen. This hidden gem in Wilmington is a must visit. The food is thoughtfully arranged, selected, and presented. As an extra bonus this place is a BYOB and the service is superb! Our waitress not only recommended wines to compliment our meal but directed us to the nearest location available purchase them (all within a 1 minute walking distance of the restaurant). My charming date brought a bottle of Courvoisier for us to enjoy the meal but this place has a wine and beer license only. Bring one or the other to pair with your meal and you will not be disappointed. We ended up having Cabernet Sauvignon with our Spicy coconut shrimp and flank steak pho. A perfect pairing! Glad we took the advise of the waitress who was very knowledgeable on the available options. The atmosphere is casual not too shabby but it is a bit chic. Come as you are one and all. This food was so good I felt like it was prepped just for me. Parking wasn't too bad at least for the time of day we were there. Noon on a Saturday with plenty of on street parking. unfortunately finding decent restaurants in Wilmington is a challenge within itself. so when I heard of Southeast kitchen a few weeks ago I was eager to try it. My first time at South East kitchen was pleasurable so I decided to return for a second time. I shouldn't have done that. Tonight I had the drunken noodle and beef lot na. The noodles in both entrées were so over cooked that my noodles did not taste like noodles. instead the noodles tasted like pure mush, like blended egg noodle that had been left in the pot for too long and started to disintegrate in its own oils. but that's not even the best part. When I called the restaurant to express my concern, I was connected to the "boss"I him know the noodles were overcooked and did not have that texture of firm noodles. The boss then challenged me and told me that I was wrong. The fact that I was willing to get back in my car drive this disgusting and subpar food BACK to the restaurant to exchange it for something better should tell you enough about my overall dissatisfaction. As a restauranteur if you are unable to except critique on the food that you are putting out there and your reputation you should probably take heed to what your customers are saying. I really wanted Thai food so found this spot and wanted to give it a try. When we arrived we found parking on the street and walked up. This place is really strict due to Covid and they had a sign saying to call, order and pay over the phone. I called in and ordered 2 drunken noodles with shrimp. One spicy and one not and it came to about $30. The lady gave me the food im about 10 mins and we were on our way. When we got back we dug in. I had the spicy one and it was good but wow was it spicy but it was filling. My friend had the milder one and she said she could taste the spice in hers as well. This might be some good asian food but I will never go there again. They only do take-out and you have to order on-line. You have to stand outside- regardless of the weather - to wait for your food. I have waited in the rain - they won't let you in. Twice they forgot the rice (who can eat curry without rice) and I can't even call to get some (without ordering it on-line). Don't waste your time - I would rather eat from a food truck, it's more personable. read more

My wife and I love this place. We go once every few weeks. I've been fortunate to try most of the menu. I love the drunken noodles with shrimp, but don't sleep on the wings. We have some favorite places in Wilmington that we go to all the time. This time we wanted to try something new and came across this place. It had decent reviews, so we decided to check it out. From the outside, it looks like a very nice place. Once you go in, I liked the setup. It's open and not too crowded. It has an open kitchen. That's the only good thing about this place. Everything else went downhill from there. Our waiter was the biggest issue, which turned me off from place. She was very rude, not informative or helpful. We ordered two Thai tea with little ice. She literally brought out two cups with less than half of Thai tea and told us that this is portion we give. I understand that ice takes up space, however not less than half the cup. Once our food came out, she didn't check on us a single time to see if the food was okay, if we anything else or even if we needed water. I had to flag down another waiter to get water. Thai iced tea: it wasn't one of the best, wasn't sweetened and had a watered down taste to it. Spicy coconut shrimp: probably the best dish we had there. It was spicy. The onions and peppers were cooked well but the shrimp was over cooked. Chef sautéed chicken fried rice: it was okay at best, chicken was over cooked, had a bitter taste to it. Some times, the kitchen has a bad day cooking wise. I understand that. I'm always willing to give them a second chance. However I will not return due to the service. read more

Stopped in here this weekend for lunch and were not disappointed. Two appetizers and two entrees later, we were quite satisfied and had some to take home. We started with the fried dumplings and the grilled squid. The fried dumplings were good, clearly homemade pockets of chicken and ginger but I would have liked for there to have been a bit more filling in them. The dumpling sauce was pretty typical in flavor and good. I was hesitant to order the grilled squid as I have had some negative experiences at other places with it being rubbery. Not the case here and they clearly had a grilled taste and were nicely tender. The squid was sliced in long strips rather than rings and served on some fresh greens with a side of sauce. In retrospect we should have poured the sauce over the squid rather than dip as the sauce was not very viscous. My dining partner ordered one of the house specialities, the shrimp coconut curry and I ordered the drunken noodles. Both were pleasantly spicy, more spicy than not, so we were not disappointed. Portions here are smaller than the norm but satisfying to the hungry diner - less to take home. The drunken noodles were ordered with tofu and I felt that it could have used more tofu. The kitchen is wide open here in a way that you can see the length of the kitchen. Tables are simply arranges in two rows along the walls with long wooden and not so comfortable benches with a wide aisle between. There are several seats at a high counter at the front window. There is a steep ramp in the front to get in and the restroom is wheelchair accessible although a table in the corridor to get to the restroom located right across from a protruding countertop makes it a bit hard to get through. There is a funeral parlor across the street. I'm sure that makes parking challenging at times. Worth the visit. read more

An awesome spot for quick and delicious Thai and Vietnamese food. Stopped here for lunch after a long morning of museum hopping. We were greeted warmly, promptly sat, and water was brought to the table. We ordered the fried dumpling appetizer. It was phenomenal! Crunchy on the outside, flavorful and piping hot on the inside. My fiancee ordered the vermicelli dish which she thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the chef signal Vietnamese yellow curry. Perfect level of spice, full of flavor. The rice had dried a bit and was a little tacky. I also found a hair on my plate, I notified the server and assured him it was no big deal, but was a little surprised there was no apology. This is the only reason for the lower star review. Awesome little spot, I would definitely go again. read more

They load it up with Thai basil and I love them for that. I personally think their spice levels get hot, quick, but I know lots of people like that. Hands down this place serves up some awesome dishes . They are full of flavor and you don't have have to wait for long to get your food. I only wish the portions were bigger I feel the are a bit on the smaller size as far as the entrees . The staff is pretty friendly and the owner as well. You won't have better Vietnamese + Thai in our area! They switched to takeout only since COVID. But honestly, with their food you just want to get cozy at home with it -- so it's a win win for all. Their takeout set up is efficient + the staff makes it a quick, easy process. Amazing yellow curry! First time here and I heard alot of hype about the "drunken noodles" my friends would get and I tried it and they were good! I got the yellow curry instead and it was AMAZING.
