We enjoyed making apple crisp in the first of a series of classes focused on the ABC's which included preparing and mixing ingredients, sampling different kinds of apples and charting individual taste preferences, using crayons to draw their favorite apple on a copy of the recipe to take home and finally story time with a book that tied into the theme while waiting for the apple crisp to bake. The children were all kindly asked to wash their hands prior to handling any ingredients and were kept incredibly safe with activities designed to keep them away from the oven and used kid friendly kitchen tools in preparation of ingredients. We had wine, cheese, meat, and focaccia when we got there and made our dessert, burrata, and pasta before assembling the whole meal. There was plenty of food to take home and we left stuffed! Our class happened at the start of a snow storm so only about 14-16 out of 20 people came which helped create a more intimate setting.

Well, we not only had a great time learning a new cuisine, but we made some new friends in the process. The studio is in a private home, so the setting is very intimate and private. So, if you have never touched a cooking utensil before, you are definitely in good hands here. If you have, then this becomes an art in learning new and exciting foods and the history behind them. After the food is prepared, we all sit down to dine together and engage in conversation over the meal in which we all took part in preparing. Such fun! Be aware that the studio is BYOB, but the studio does provide wine glasses and soft drinks. We had such a great time that we are hoping to do this again soon. She prints of recipes, shopping guides, and includes links to her YouTube videos on the recipes, she even included a bonus recipe for us just because she thinks it's delicious.
