Very hard to find a machine shop anywhere. This one has been around longer than most of you wippersnappers.

Max, I'm pretty sure that was cashier's name, ran a test and told me that my oxygen sensor was bad. He states he knows a mobile mechanic, Edgar, and he doesn't speak English; he gets to shop in less than 5 minutes. Max asks me to move my car to the side; he stated the store manager is cool but the general manager has a problem with people working on cars in front of shop. After part is "installed," Edgar puts numerous bolts in a garbage pail and drives off. My car gave out shortly after starting it; call AAA. I went into store to ask for name and numbers of sales associate and mobile mechanic. Wrong numbers were given; not surprised.. Before car was towed back to San Antonio, the tow truck driver looks where oxygen sensor is and tells me nothing is there. Yesterday, car was towed again and I asked the guy if he wouldn't mind telling me where a part was; he said no and also told me oxygen sensor was not there. AutoZone, in the Windsor Park, area did an excellent job of assessing and did not try to take advantage of a disabled individual. The same can't be said about the location at 2602 S Congress. AutoZone, sales associates like the ones who worked Sunday afternoon, are not a professional look on your company and will have customers going elsewhere.

I dealt w/ 3 people upon my arrival, I can't recall their names, but the Grandfather of them all, I believe Terrell (dreads) and the manager. They were all very courteous, professional, knowledgable. Kept me informed, educated me and was a pleasant afternoon on a day I didn't want to get new batteries but had to. These guys are awesome, if you ever need anything in their helm the are top notch. Wish I lived closer to them, 3 hours south I'd refer EVERYONE there for their service, esp when today customer service seems to go waste side. These guys are top notch!

I have had…read moreinterstate tenders and maintainers since the early 90s and since technology has changed so much I thought this would be a good idea. After all they stamp their name in big bold letters on everything they make, so why would they make junk with their name on it? Turns out it's cheap Chinese junk and won't hold a charge after 3 months of use. Called the store back and I was told they quit carrying the enterprise jumper packs and had switched to a different brand called NOGO because theirs aren't as good. I talked to the person for another 20 min and he said they can return it for a store credit towards another one. Ok I'm down for that I said and they ordered another one. I told them I would cover the difference if they would order the bigger heavier duty one since this one crapped out so easily. 2 days later called back and of course the story changed. Now the guy said the store manager wouldn't let him return it without the original receipt. The receipt printed on thermal paper that was no longer legible since it was left in the car. I asked why because they were able to easily look up and see the sale recorded in the computer. He said it's because his manager said no and that was the last word. Well manager let me tell you that when you put your own company name on a product that does a few months later and don't stand behind it the last word gets stamped on the internet. Along with your poor customer service.

Then she says it's out of stock. I explain the system says it's in stock. Her reply, "yeah, it does that all the time, sucks." So she calls the Riverside store because the system says they have two in stock. Riverside store then proceeds to keep us on hold for 20 minutes while they're checking to see if part is there. It should have taken 5 minutes max, even if they had to finish up with a customer first. Finally Riverside says they have the part. Great! I'm ready to run over there and grab it. But they say, "oh we sent it with a driver to you." What?! Why?! We didn't ask for that. So of course exactly what you expect to happen happened. The driver didn't leave right away and obviously took the longest possible route to the 7th St store, because we waited and waited and waited for ages for the part to arrive. Remember: the morning started with the Advance website portal telling me the part was IN STOCK at 7th St and READY for pickup. Just an unbelievably horribly run company. Never shopping here again. Ever.

There was a line for parts and to pay, and it seemed like the staff may have been a bit over whelmed, but they handled it smoothly and the line moved as fast as it could. The hispanic gentleman who helped me was very polite and helpful with getting me my parts. On my trip back to return the core parts, it was easy and quickly done. I was in and out in under 5 mins. The staff here seems to be very knowledgeable and courteous. A combination that will bring me to frequent any place.

I'd EMPHATICALLY recommend going elsewhere! First, I need to…read moresay that all of the cashiers I've come across any time I've visited this location have been very polite and amicable. Here's the disappointing part. This Auto Zone location is hands down the worst, most frustrating and poorly managed store I've ever dealt with. This location has no problem towing shopping customers' vehicles, sticking them with hundreds of dollars in fees, yet they turn a blind eye to the daily circus happening in their own parking lot. Most days there are 30-40 people essentially tailgating with their cars spread out, hoods up, hanging around for hours while "working" on vehicles in a filthy, trash-strewn lot. It looks more like an unsupervised junkyard hangout than a retail business. Oil spills, debris, and random parts are left behind, and no one from management seems to care. What's worse is the complete lack of accountability. Complaints to store management go nowhere. I typically avoid leaving negative reviews and have preferred to address any business concerns with store/business supervisors first; however, attempting to escalate issues to district and regional level management representatives did not change a thing. They've completely ignored in-store requests to speak to the store's general manager, Patty, and all other contacts have remained unreachable, despite leaving messages and contact information. As a legitimate paying customer I don't appreciate being treated like an inconvenience and will refrain from shopping at ANY Auto Zone in the future as I believe brand loyalty and customer service go hand in hand. There are plenty of competitors willing to supply parts at less than retail with MORE ATTENTIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE (i.e. RockAuto, Parts Geek, Honda Parts Now, etc.) Heck, at this rate, you might as well get the parts online and have one of the parking lot mechanics here do the work for you for a fraction of the cost since this is apparently what their business model currently encourages. If I ever need tires, batteries, oil, or as much as a pack of dielectric grease, I will unfortunately be going elsewhere in the future. -David C.
