The soup is delicious. That's not the problem. It's the service, and the incredibly rude owner who did not practice health protocol: I have gone here for years, as I LOVE soup. Well, today I preordered soup for my parents...it was only 11am, but the girls where already busy bagging up soups and had about 8 to go orders already on the counter. I accidentally took the wrong soup and my father ate half of it and realized it was the wrong soup. No big deal, I called to make sure it was wrong and then was asked to bring it back and get the right soup.. I come back with 2 quarts of soup (which cost $24). I asked for my soup and the difference in cost since the large was actually much smaller. The owner ron came out, no mask or gloces, furious. He accused me of taking the wrong soup on purpose, (why someone would do that I do not know.) He was confused as to why we ate half of it and said he would charge me for that, instead of just refunding me the difference. I tried to explain what happened but he became so loud and aggressive, telling me that it's his store and he can do whatever he wants. I'm totally flabbergasted. I did raise my voice a bit, as I felt totally attacked. But it was pointless because he just gets louder and He threatens to call the police, and says that I'm causing a scene. (I'm literally standing there in total shock). I left with the wrong soup and no refund. No soup (as good as it is) is worth being treated like that, humiliated and shamed for an honest mistake. I mean I'm a paying customer. To be treated like I was a criminal like that is so upsetting. Shame on Ron for using his "power" in the community as a business owner to take advantage of people and just be a huge bully. read more

Took my MIL for the first time for a really late lunch. We split a soup and sammie and it was delish. Chicken and Rice soup was perfectly seasoned and the sandwich was perfect. We would have eaten in but it is too small of a place for two adults with an infant carrier. Adults and kids that can sit on a normal chair will do ok, it is cramped and don't expect to get a seat at the lunch rush. Took home a menu and definitely will order again. I recently ordered lunch for the staff to celebrate Rad Tech Week. The service was outstanding and the food was superb. I received the recommendation from an employee that frequently visits the venue and states that the food is always consistent. I was disappointed today 9/13/2018 when I went there to eat lunch with my daughter. The soup always is delicious however our sandwiches were terrible. The chicken was paper thin and I had 3 small slices of ham on my sandwich. I paid for the bread. We both ordered 1/2 sandwich and soup. I could of had better for 23.00. I only wish I could give this place NEGATIVE 5 stars ... I was driving by and noticed this cute little place and thought mmmm, soup, sounds wonderful. I pulled over and peeked at their online menu. I was very encouraged to find their online menu had V and GF designations. I turned the car around and immediately went! I walked in to find one woman waiting for her order. I saw the options written on a chalkboard. I waited for several minutes not being acknowledged. I stood directly across from the person behind the counter for several more minutes with no acknowledgement whatsoever. Finally she happened to turn around, looked right at me and did not smile or say hello. Instead she let out a sigh and yelled at the girl in the back to come out. Several MORE minutes later a cheery girl asked how she could help me. I explained to her that the soup sounded wonderful, but I was a gluten free VEGAN not vegetarian, so that their "v" was not enough of a designation for me because Vegan also means dairy, egg and butter free. She tried to guess which would be ok (obviously the one with cheese in the title would not work). I asked if she knew for sure the ones she told me did not have dairy. She confessed no, but I think they should be ok. I told her it was very important, could she find out for me. She hesitantly said ugh, I guess so. She came back and again tried to guess which ones might work with doubt. I asked if she found out for sure. She said no. I asked if there was a list of ingredients, she said not really. I asked if it was made in house or somewhere else. She said it was made in house. I asked if the chef was available. She said yes she had talked to that person. I asked what they said. She said well they think probably .. and then she contradicted herself several times. I asked what they told her. She said they said it is on the menu, just read it. I asked if she explained to them that I needed meat and dairy free, that is why I am asking, because the menu does not explain that. She again tried to guess. I asked if she would please explain to the chef what I just told her. She clearly did not want to go back there again to ask, I felt sorry for her, but I was hungry and really wanted some soup. I just did not want to get sick, so I really needed to know. She came back out, same guessing game. I asked her what the chef said, she did not wan to say. She finally said he said just look at the menu and read it! I asked if the chef would come out here for a minute and talk to me! She again had fear in her eyes and went uuugh, I ugh ... By the way, here for about 15 min, the same woman still pacing and waiting for her order!!! Now late for work and still hungry I left ... I have NEVER had a chef not able to explain to me what is in the food they prepare, and whenever there is a question, no matter the dive, the chef comes out to talk to you - they are proud of their work! All chefs know what dairy, butter and eggs are! They designate V and GF on their menu, but I would not trust either of those designations!!!! So they are slow, grumpy, liars and nasty. AMAZING!!! Fresh & healthy soup. Everything looked and sounded delicious and I had trouble deciding. Today I bought 2 larges and ate one before I got home. The variety is diverse. What a small town little deli/kind of like Panera. They have panini and soups or you could do half a sandwich and half a soup. Their chicken cutlet was a little dry and not really fresh but all the sandwiches look and sound so good! I tried thyme after thyme which was chicken cutlet, roasted peppers, balsamic glaze and mozzarella. Abs their chicken noodle soup tastes homemade. Soups are fantastic. My husband loves their lentil (tastes just like his mom used to make). I love their chicken pot pie soup. I wish they would take more care in ensuring to remove the bones from their chicken, this is the second time (in a row) that I have found a substantial bone in my soup. I freakin' LOVE this place! This is one of my favorite places to get soup...and yes, I've experienced Liquid Lunch numerous times...this place just rocks them. The sandwiches are huge and delicious and I love that I can get a turkey and stuffing sandwich with cranberry mayo year round. I personally have no beef with Soup Thyme. I live very close to it, so I have eaten my way through the menu ever since it opened. Their paninis are very satisfying, cleverly named, and have a VERY wide selection. They also have a quality selection of salads and salad type items. My mother always complains that their soups (in particular their butternut squash) are not rich enough, but I think that's a matter of personal taste whether you like soups more cream-based or more stock-based. Their Chicken Spinach Gorgonzola is my personal favorite and SO delicious, especially on a crisp fall day. I don't know how they get the little globs of gorgonzola to stay more or less in tact, but it is a real treat if you love blue cheese. It's also nice that you can walk into Soup Thyme and accomodate whatever mood you're in that day: if you want something hearty, they have thick stews and cheese oozing paninis, and if you're watching your waistline, you can order lighter soups, salads, or even a side of fresh grilled vegetables. They also have little meal deals that makes it a convenient places to stop for a mid-day lunch. Be warned though: prices are definitely on the higher side for a soup/sandwich/salad location. You can easily spend a pretty penny for two people, especially if you get drinks, sides, and full sandwiches and soups. There is very limited seating inside, but as of this review date I think they are expanding into the adjoining property to add more space and remedy that problem. All in all, it is definitely worth checking out if you're really in the mood for soup, salad, and sandwiches. read more

If there's one thing I love: it's paninis. If there's another thing I love: it's soup. Soup Thyme does both of these things extraordinarily well. When you walk in you will likely need a moment before you place your order. Apart from sheer variety of what they offer the menu can be a little confusing (all the paninis have a gimmicky name including "thyme" i.e. Thyme Warp, Thyme Saver, Thyme After Thyme, etc...). This fact can make it difficult to order even when you know what you want... for example, I know I love the sandwich with salami/pepperoni/provolone/pesto/red peppers but I never know what it is called and always spend 5 minutes looking at the menu trying to find it again. Simply put the food here is delicious. There's really not much more that can be said. Sandwiches are generously portioned and soups are always hearty and filling. This place is small and usually busy so if you're in a rush or would like to sit down you're probably going to be disappointed in that regard. I usually call ahead now and am in and out in a flash. Seriously the food here is so great. Like the best lunch in Fairfield county by far. The creations are amazing and the soups are to die for- especially the Chicken Pot Pie one. My one caveat is the owner/ "executive chef." He's incredibly rude and is notoriously cruel to his employees. He is not friendly in the slightest.
