I visit Seattle two or three times each year. Speaking bluntly, it's an awful traffic city. The opening of the LINK Light Rail was one of the best developments in this city in years. In fact, I made full use of ths wonderful new scheme on my last visit. My business was at the University of Washington. Unfortunately, there is not enough hotel space in that vicinity. What rooms were available were out of reach financially. The LINK allowed me to stay near the airport where rooms were a little more plentiful and more reasonably priced. I was able to take the Light Rail from terminus to terminus (SeaTac to the University). It worked out very well for me. While I was in town, I caught a Mariners game and the LINK stop at the stadium area served nicely as convenient transportation for that purpose as well. I will definitely plan to make use of this system each time I come to town. read more

I have to say - what a bargain! From Sea-Tac to Downtown for less than $3?! A 45 min ride and there's no way you can miss the stop since it stops in the heart of downtown. Obviously, if you go between stops it's even cheaper than $3. I admit, it's not very scenic, but it does get you around town for cheap! Seattle is the city that taught me how much freedom and access and unity a society can have from a decent public transit system that connects a city, and the expansions to light rail have made that more of a reality to the Seattle Area. The current light rail makes it easy to get to and from downtown to the airport, though that long walk from the station to the terminals is not fun when it's cold outside or if you're traveling with a lot of things. It's still preferable to driving to the airport and dealing with traffic, gas, parking, and save money on ride shares. The train has always been clean, though it can fill up doing key transit hours. Either way it is well worth considering if you can can plan ahead and want to save some money when you want to go to Sea Tac or other stops on the transit network. read more

One of my first impressions of Washington was the transit system. Specifically their rail system. I read up on it prior to catching a ride on it and the theme was how good it is. First off, every station I've waited or got off of was clean. It's not like this in my hometown. The people riding the Light Link were all respectable of each other's space and the interior itself was also clean. There are courtesy signs through out the interior telling riders where to store their luggage and the "do's and don'ts" of riding the Light Rail. This thing is super easy to navigate as well and is a GREAT option to take from the airport (that's if you don't mind the extra time to get to Downtown, which is where most people are going to). Economically, this ran me a $3 fare from Seattle International Airport. If I had Ubered it, rumor is that's close to $22-$30 to get to Downtown from the airport. There are great views of the city as you ride the Light Link, as well as some cool tunnels and underground stations. This Light Link rail outclasses the Trolley in San Diego, hands down (the trolley is known to have some suspicious characters at times and is also filthy). San Diego needs a lesson on what a rail system should be from Seattle. read more

I left 45mins earlier then normal and i am still getting to work at the time I would have otherwise. Thanks for being completely worthless and failing as a form of reliable transit today. Maybe put a functioning train between the THREE that were not. The least you could do is put WiFi in at this station so we could do something, like watch a full movie between functioning trains. After making a drive to the Seattle Center for the Terracotta Warriors Exhibition failed three weeks ago,due to no parking available and excessive traffic congestion, we decided to give the Link Light Rail a try. We boarded the train at the Tukwila station and for us first timers, we had to figure out how the system works, by following the instruction on site we purchased the One Day pass and we were on our way. The train was quiet, efficient and clean. Point of the next stop is displayed on the digital board and when getting close to a station, audio announcement will play and give direction for passengers on what side to disembark. The ride is easy to catch, convenient and pleasant, and it helped save all the negative impact driving into the city, and provide a good and easy transit system to use and not to mention it is cost effective. read more

Am so fortunate in having Link near my Mount Baker home. Link is the best mode of transportation when traveling Downtown or to the airport. Why bother with driving and parking when a train ride is only $2? It's reliable (most of the time) and efficient. If I miss a train, I know another will be approaching within 10 minutes. I had rarely visited The Market (Pike Place) before this mode of transportation was available. I now go to The Market most Fridays and use the train to get there with my ORCA card in hand. Am a local using our Market in a sea of tourists! Ack!! An 8 minute walk from my home to the train connects me to shopping, entertainment, and dining downtown to departing flights at the airport. It's always an adventure to say the least. 5 star rating from me. It has definitely changed my standard of living for the better. I am a huge fan of mass transit, and in particular, Seattle's LINK Light Rail system. This system is clean, fast, cheap, and convenient. They saved me a lot of money by not having to rely on taxi's or a rental car during this past weekend in Seattle. My friends & I stayed at a hotel by Westlake Station (the opposite end of the line from SeaTac Airport). The ride between the SEA airport and Westlake cost a mere $2.75 and only took 40 minutes, end to end. On top of that, the light rail also can take you to Stadium (the station where Qwest Field and Safeco Field are at, for football, soccer, and baseball games). Now if only more cities had a similarly convenient mass transit system. If you live in Seattle, I could see how this system wouldn't replace having a car because it's simply just one line. Also, it's a bit confusing for their "Day Pass" rates. The Day Passes are good only between the two designated stations you purchase them for, so it's not a system-wide unlimited pass. Although I was never checked to see if I had paid for a ticket, you should not try to cheat the system. Agents will perform spot checks and fine you, should you not have a ticket. read more

I just completed a survey regarding enforcement of fares on the system. This was my response: We are now experiencing a crisis of people living in an expensive city, with very little income, going to jobs that are paying lower wages than ever before. There should be a transportation option for low-income people, without employer assisted transportation options, that would include a no-fare option. With this option, those who are below a certain level of income, should be able to apply for and use an ORCA card that would allow them to use public transit whenever they want to go where ever they need to travel. Why are we limiting usage of this valuable PUBLIC resource, paid for with PUBLIC money? Easy like Sunday morning. I took this light rail into Seattle a little over a week ago and it was smooth sailing, cheap and easy. There is a shuttle that picks you up for free and takes you to the station. From there it is a quick swipe of your debit card at the station's ticket machine and a peaceful and quiet ride into town. After living in SF for long enough to fall madly in love with the city and it's awesome public transportation, I am so happy to see that Seattle is getting on board with easy transit. Definitely worth taking and I would give it 5 stars, but it needs to travel to a few more destinations before it hits that pristine honor in my book :) read more

2.5 stars and I will try this once more: 3 Billion dollars and 20 years later, Seattle has Mass Transit consisting of a lightrail from downtown to the airport. Since I contributed to this fund, like so many others, I was overjoyed to take the train to avoid rush hour to SeaTac. The price is great at only $2.75 to the airport! Researching it on the web it appears to be a 43 minute ride. Just to be sure, I asked locals who all said "no problem, it takes 45 minutes--tops!". First problem, buying a ticket and figuring out exactly which side you need to be on isn't easy. Signage is horrible and realistically, trains are easier to navigate in Munich, Seoul, and Tokyo where I don't understand the language than Seattle. Lighting is poor and there's no down escalator for folks with suitcases. I'm wondering where the $3 Billion went, but then I remember the years of environmental impact studies and understand why lightbulbs, signage and escalators were scrapped. Maybe I was unlucky, but there appeared to be an incident on a bus East of Safeco Field and our train shut down in the dark Beacon Hill tunnel. I was 35 minutes away from Boarding time on Alaska Air with no internet access in the Light Rail Tunnel. 15-20 minutes later after no information was provided, we started rolling, again. The airport station is about a 5-8 minute walk from the D Gates. Add 5-10 minutes, if you fly Delta or Southwest. Since, I was going to Alaska, I was diverted on one more Seattle train to the N Gate, which put me at N9 at exactly boarding time. Net-net: If you elect to take the train, give yourself 1:15 minutes if you are flying first or have elite status with an airline. If not, I would go with 1:45 minutes prior to BOARDING not Departure. Tips: 1. An unlabeled Orca machine is a ticket machine for the light rail. I found one a level above the train which is the basement level of Westlake Mall. 2. There's a South route and a North Route. I was lucky and ended up on the correct side of the train. Ask someone! 3. Gravity is your friend. Carrying bags down was a bitch, but do-able 4. The airport is not your final destination---be prepared to walk 5-15 minutes depending on the air carrier 5. There are no lights in the tunnel and no wifi or cellular reception. This is a huge faux pas and one I've never seen in a mass transportation system. Other: The above ground portion is the part of the ride they should have buried. Be prepared to see the ugliest side of Seattle. Seating is optional. The train was packed at 5PM, so I stood the entire way. Checkout Sound Transit's website before leaving. INEXPENSIVE, FAST, CONVENIENT & MODERN TRANSPORT BOTH DIRECTIONS BETWEEN SEATTLE AND SEA-TAC AIRPORT THE SIT-REP (Situation Report) Flew up to visit "me dear ole mum" in this past interim extended weekend (Dec 9-13) between the holidays. To see it for the first time, the Link Light Rail looks like a JAPANESE BULLET TRAIN. Sleek, stylish and very modern. When you get out from the Sea-tac airport terminal, it is very comforting to know that every 20 minutes there is a mode of inexpensive transportation to get you to downtown Seattle when friends or family FAIL YOU in the pick-up (though in this instance, I had already and DEFINITELY planned on taking the Link - and me dear mum does not drive anymore in any event). THE PROS FOR LINK LIGHT RAIL When considering an expense comparison, a cab ride costs on average $40 between Sea-Tac and downtown Seattle. The GRAY LINE bus service from Sea-Tac to a collection of different downtown Seattle hotels including the Hilton (where I sometimes stay) is $15 - a bargain when compared to the taxi ride. But at only $2.50, the Sound Transit - Link Light Rail is dirt cheap and doesn't really take all that much longer - only 37 minutes to cover the 13 miles worth of 13 rail stops. And those 13 stops between Downtown Seattle and SEA-TAC airport include: * Westlake - North Terminus (at 3rd & Pine - only a couple blocks east of Pike's Place Market) * University Street * Pioneer Square * International District/Chinatown * Stadium * SODO * Beacon Hill * Mount Baker * Columbia City * Othello * Rainier Beach * Tukwila International Blvd * SeaTac/Airport - South Terminus The Link cars are pretty spacious and there was no problem stowing my large suitcase and my computer bag next to me in my seat. It was FREEEZING when I arrived on Dec 9, but the link cars are nicely heated. You get a panoramic view of the trip. In comparing the Sound Transit - Link Light Rail to the Sacramento RT Light Rail, Link Light Rail wins HANDS DOWN. * The QUALITY and INFRASTRUCTURE is much higher tech and much more modern. * The ACCELERATION / DECELERATION is much more smooth and passenger friendly. I kid you not, but I've watched this unfortunate scenario play out several times, but AGAIN, just yesterday (Friday, Dec 17), I watched some poor lady get buffeted - like we all did - on the Sacramento Light Rail. She was literally thrown out of her seat, SLID along the floor, and fell down into the stairwell at the end of the train-car. (I hope she follows through and files that report on the driver!) I don't know WHERE they get these ass-wipe light rail drivers in Sacramento, but they have NO SENSE for braking and acceleration within normal tolerance conditions. We are all holding on to the bars, straps and seats for our dear lives. Seattle Link Light Rail must be run by robots or WELL-TRAINED drivers who know how to drive their machines because the acceleration/deacceleration is flawless at all the stops they made. THE CONS TO LINK LIGHT RAIL To be fair, this next point really has less to do with the Link Light Rail itself and more with the supporting infrastructure surrounding the Light Rail. The LIGHT LINK RAIL TERMINUS at Sea-Tac is QUITE a hike away from the main airport terminal - roughly a 1/2 mile walk, first out of the airport terminal, THROUGH the entire LARGE parking garage structure, and then a long walkway through a long corridor to it's own structure after the parking garage. For me, a power hike is a power hike, and I enjoy the walking. But it pained me to see several elderly and disabled individuals struggling to get themselves - AND their luggage - across such a vast distance. There were NOT any airporter golf cart-like transport vehicles to ameliorate this situation for the elderly or disabled. There is one main considerable straight expanse almost 1/4 mile in length that just begs to have a motorized walkway put in. In consideration of the needs of the less ambulatory, it would be prudent to put one in. LOWDOWN From now on, Light Link Rail will be my planned mode of leaving Sea-Tac airport and arriving into Downtown Seattle - and vice versa! (On my way OUT of Seattle, got me coffee, caught the Link at Westlake, and off I went to SeaTac!) It's inexpensive, it's dependable, it's efficient & timely, and it puts me right in the middle of the downtown area of where I want to be. read more

I love the Light Rail Transit. I love Seattle for a lot of stuff but a major plus is their transportation system. I had to go to Seattle for a meeting last November and I certainly didn't want to drive around a city I'm not familiar with especially after reading about how traffic gets packed during peak hours. My flight back to LA was at 7:30 and my meeting ends at 6 PM. I knew I couldn't afford to be late. I armed myself with as much information as I could get so walking from the airport to the station was relatively easy. They say the walkway gets a bit confusing because of a few slight turns but just keep to your left and you'll hit it soon enough. The train itself is very clean. And I love how they have more trips during rush hour. I got a day pass and was able to go back and forth Downtown Seattle without any problem. And the ride back to the airport was equally as easy. The Light Rail Service is safe with good presence of security. It is clean and a very pleasant ride. It is a great way to get from Sea Tac Airport to downtown Seattle and only takes 30 minutes and $3.50! There are several communities in between and is also a good way to get to UDub (Univ. of Washington). The Light Rail runs very often which makes it very convenient and there are elevators, escalators and stairs for accessibility. I love riding the light rail and taking guest on it! Prices are good and the best thing is that you can get an all day pass if you will use it for several rides during one day otherwise you might want to ride it to your primary location then walk or take the free shuttle that is new since this summer and goes to and from several spots around downtown Seattle (the bus shuttle bus). See the blue signs posted like bus stops at the waterfront, Pike Place Market, etc. Oh, back to the Light Rail, you should pay whenever you ride or you very likely will get a first time warning from the agents who get on and off the light rail randomly throughout trips; they check your ticket or Orca card for validity. I understand that after the first warning, you will receive a citation for payment. It's such a cheap ride that it's better to pay than to chance it! Also, you might want to pay for a blue Orca Card which costs $5 at the kiosk (same place you purchase your ticket) and it can be loaded with $ for multiple trips in case you don't want to keep buying tickets for more than one day of travel. There is no discount by using the Orca card vs. daily tickets though. The Light Rail is quiet and can be crowded during peak hours. It's also just fine to bring whatever luggage you have which fits well under the seats or in the couple available luggage racks. Kiosks are located before you get on the Light Rail so be sure to look for them and buy your ticket before boarding. Oh, also, you should tap your card at the turn style on and off area if you have an Orca card, which completes your trip and may save you from paying for the entire route if you are only going a shortways. Tapping on and off also keeps your Orca card working properly or else if you don't tap on and off it may not record that you have a valid trip if checked by the agents. There is no extra cost to tap on or off. Lastly, public transportation is great in Seattle and the Light Rail is a big part...you can also use your Orca card on the bus, ferries, or street car. They each will deduct their respective costs and you won't have to buy separate tickets. You can walk many of the places as well, though! Enjoy the Light Rail! read more

Years of riding the lightrail and I'm still a happy customer! There isn't an easier way to get to and from the airport if you are a car-lacking hippie like myself. I know folks with cars who prefer to take this as opposed to traffic, paying for parking, etc. The Light Rail is still cheap. If you have an ORCA card you can get a lovely bus transfer to other locales. It is fairly regular/on time un-like it's other Sound Transit bus counterparts, It's clean. And I rarely come across scary people on it. Can't wait for the expansions to the U-District, Cap Hill, and elsewhere to be completed. It is about time Seattle put it's big-boy pants on when it come to public transport...so i'm glad this little light rail is only getting bigger and better. read more

I've been intending to ride the new Link LIght Rail system to SEATAC since it opened. This last trip provided the perfect occasion. After arriving by ferry in Seattle, I walked up the hill to University Station. Why University rather than Pioneer Square? Because a local fellow told me that University Station was closer to the ferry. And maybe it was. Next time I'll try the Pioneer Square Station to see which one is really closer. And whether the hillside heading for Pioneer Square is less steep, although I can't say that the invigorating walk up to 3rd Street was all that difficult. Okay...so I did huff and puff a bit, d'ya have to rub it in? And for $2.50, there will be a next time. A taxi from the ferry to SEATAC costs $30 bucks or so. And for $30 bucks I can find a book at Hudson Bay Co, get a snack at an airport vendor. Or... Well, $2.50 is going to grab me every time. So...here's the story. Coming from SFO, think SF's Muni Metro. This is *light* rail, not *third* rail. BART speeds along, Muni Metro does not. Nor does the Link Light Rail. Allow plenty of time. Taxi's will get you to SEATAC in a twinkle. LLR will not... focus on that $2.50 fare. I've no complaints, mind you. I got to see parts of Seattle that I've never seen before. Riding "shotgun" on the elevated portion of the LLR car. (Those with baggage will probably want to stay at street level. ) I got to look at some mighty fine signage and artwork as we passed from station to station. Oh, and...(take this message to heart)...I saved about $27.50 traveling along this route. I did mention that the ferry from Bainbridge to Seattle is free if you are heading toward the city, didn't I? What a failure... People coming into town via a bus tunnel bus must exit the platform area in Westlake, go up some stairs to purchase tickets. Me and several others missed the train in doing so - big deal you ask? Yes, it was. See, I had luggage with me as I was going to the airport. Absolutely no signage on the track where to get tickets, I wandered around trying to figure it out missing a train in the process (and then missing another one when I went up and back down). Here's an idea, let people buy tickets on the platform so those coming in via the tunnel dont have to leave said tunnel to change to link. Once at the airport? Seriously? This is the best we can do? A "walkway" that runs the length of the parking lot? With luggage? You've got to be kidding me. Who was the brainiac that thought this would be okay? What about the elderly and those less physically able? Horrible! There is a complete lack of signage, security, and help once in the tunnel. It's not even clear where you're supposed to catch the train, the only indication there is a train is the track in the ground. Since the "incident" there may be more security, but there is definite lack of help via maps, signs, or employees. Wake up Seattle, this system is horrible. Want to see how transit is supposed to work? Go to any other major city with rapid transit and take a look. I have ridden systems all over the world and never have I seen such a major piece of junk as what we have here. The trip from Capitol Hill to Sea-Tac using transit? 90 minutes, and this was on Christmas Eve when there was absolutely no traffic and bus service was on a standard weekday schedule. It's clean, fast, and affordable. There's more people riding at 10:30 at night than I would've expected... I'm pretty happy to see Seattle's newest mode of mass-transit being utilized. How to spoil an otherwise AWESOME experience Going to Seattle Airport? How about you are at the airport and need to get downtown? What? It's rush hour? Admittedly, you could spend the $45 average cab fare to be stuck in traffic, but why would you? The Link service is just $2.75 (no, not a misprint) and drops you off right underneath Nordstroms in the heart of down town, with all the hotels you could possibly need within a couple of blocks. Sure, the seats are uncomfortable (stand for the 40 odd minutes - let's face it, you've either been sitting for a few hours or you are just about to), they don't like luggage (and point it out). but you can't beat the price. The only one downside on the trip was the most blatant racist transit ticket checker I have ever come across. Come on board, point to a young man of color and demand his ticket (in a manner that screams accusation), and then leave. This left a bitter taste in the whole experience. I was, quite honestly, disgusted by this attitude. This is normally a very tolerant city. Without that experience, this would have been five stars, but no organization that employs such people deserves a perfect rating. read more

My first experience taking the Light Rail was great! I took the Light Rail from West Lake to the airport. I was a little nervous because I have little experience with public transportation outside of the buses and the ferry. I managed to get lost on the way down to the tunnel in Westlake and couldn't figure out where to buy a single ticket yet because I didn't have an Orca card. After wandering around I asked one of the workers where to buy a ticket because the ticket booth was closed and I didn't have a card and he told me where to get the ticket. I was a little confused because no one checked tickets. As far as I could tell I could have gotten on without paying at all (which of course I wouldn't do)! It all worked out and I got on the train no problem. The ride was very enjoyable! I liked sitting back and looking out the window and winding through the neighborhoods. I was impressed with how efficient the system seemed to be. Very clean and people were friendly. I didn't see any shady characters which I was wondering about. Maybe it would be different at night vs. early morning. I would definitely use the Light Rail again next time I go to the airport! At $2.50 one way from Westlake Center to Sea-Tac the price can't be beat. read more

I took the rail for the first time. I'm glad the police are at the rail watching over as there are a lot of homeless or derelict people walking around. The rail is fast and I would definitely use the rail as transportation around Seattle. read more

Finally took the Light Rail for the first time today and I'm a big fan! There is a station about a 10 minute walk from my house and now that I've done it, I don't think I'll ever drive downtown again. Here are some reasons I loved it.: 1. It made me feel like I was in Europe. 2. It's super easy. 3. It's clean. 4. I didn't get harassed. 5. It's obviously better to take it downtown than taking your car and paying for parking. Now all we need is for the city build more routes so it goes to other desirable places. Or are they doing that? I have no idea. They need to do that! Tax us some more! read more

I am writing a review of the Light Rail as someone who was visiting Seattle and it was incredibly inexpensive and convenient using it to get to downtown Seattle. An associate of mine told me about the light rail and they saved me from either spending $50 for a cab from the SeaTac airport to downtown or renting a car at $100 a day which I was considering before I heard about the light rail. Instead I paid $2.75 for the light rail which has a station at the end of the airport's parking lot and I took a 35 minute ride to downtown Seattle which also avoided any traffic that I would have encountered with a cab or a rental. I didn't get a chance to utilize any other forms of public transportation around Seattle but it's overall a very well run and organized city and very easy to get around with plenty of inexpensive options. read more

I so enjoy this option for transportation. I admit I am smitten with it for reasons that may not matter to the rest of the world: 1. There is a station very close to my house, I am hoping that this bit of actual city life will improve my neighborhood (and subsequently property values) 2. I love riding into downtown on it and not having to park 3. I am entranced by the computerized voice on the train 4. Convenient transportation to and from the airport to the downtown area. Much cheaper than hiring a taxi and quicker than using the bus system. We also used the light rail to visit the International District one evening. As a sidenote, we're glad that we utilized Seattle's various means of public transportation. Our son & his girlfriend visited last year and rented a car from one of the airport vendors. When he told us how outrageously high the combined fees were (in addition to parking fees at their hotel and around town), that convinced us to do our exploring using the different travel options. Gotta say that we had pleasant experiences and that it added to our Seattle adventure! read more

Oh light rail, I love you so much! I've become completely dedicated to riding you whenever possible instead of the buses. You get me places so much quicker, the seating is better, and your stops aren't nearly as scary as some of my bus stops! Your drivers tend to be quite good and keep the trains from being too jerky. I like that my Orca card makes you so easy to ride. I look forward to your eventual expansion through the city! A few things which prevented you from getting a 5 star review: Finding an *actual* schedule of when you'll arrive is a pain. I get that you come every 7-15 minutes, but when I have no idea when the last train came, that isn't so helpful. On the same note, would it be too difficult to add to the signs when the next train would be arriving? Your creators put in scrolling signs of "thank you for riding," so why not use them for something more useful? You don't quite run late enough for me. You leave Westlake usually at 12:30 at the latest, the bars stay open until 2. Really, I'd like you to leave at 2:30 instead. Thanks! read more

One of the best things about flying into Sea-Tac is the light rail. It's right next to the airport and goes to downtown Seattle. The light rail is cheap, clean, and fun. Only $2.75 (cash or card) from Sea-Tac to downtown Seattle! The train ride to University Street took about 35 minutes. That's way cheaper (and faster during rush hour, I imagine) than taking a cab or renting a car. It's also easy to navigate -- there's one train coming and one train going on the platform. The train people come through and check each ticket one-by-one, so make sure you don't misplace your ticket after you buy it. read more

This stop is great! Right next to Chinatown!! My Fav food on this planet!! Its under the tunnel so you have to take stairs/elevator/escalator to get up/down this station, but its very accessible! You get let off at about 3rd and Jackson-ish and soon as you get to the surface you can walk to get food/drink/store all within 1-2 blocks! Also this stop is a good one if you want to get to the NORTH entrance of Qwest feild, instead of getting off at the "Stadium station", this is also a good alternative. I mainly use this station when leaving a game so that I can get on before the rest of the crowd does which most people get on at the stadium station. read more

The Link Light Rail was probably the MVP of my trip to Seattle. It's about as uncomplicated as it gets - one train line that runs all the way from Angle Lake (south of the airport, not far from Tacoma) north to the University of Washington. You can get to many of the major areas of Seattle (SeaTac, Tukwila, Rainier Beach, Beacon Hill, the stadiums, Chinatown, Pioneer Square, etc.), all within about a 30-45 minute ride, give or take 5-10 minutes depending on where you're stopping and starting. The fare is $3 one-way. I never once felt unsafe on the train. Just about everyone observes the unwritten rules of public trans - don't engage other riders unless there's a reason to, don't block seats when the train is crowded, don't sit in the disabled person seats, don't block the doors, don't talk loud or play loud music, etc. The trains run every 10-15 minutes, which makes them ultra convenient. They're quick. My nearly daily commute between Rainier Beach and most of the stops in Seattle proper took about 35 minutes. One heads up about the stadiums. First, there is a stadium stop (appropriately called Stadium). It's really best used for T-Mobile Park, the baseball field. The next stop, International District/Chinatown, is closer to CenturyLink Field, the football stadium. You can get to the Seahawks game from the Stadium stop, but it's a pretty good distance away. Second, the Stadium stop still involves some walking to the baseball park, and the stop can be hard to find in the dark after the game. Not much is marked in terms of signage (one of my big pet peeves). Best thing to do is stay inside the stadium after the game and walk to the center field gate. It lets out onto Royal Brougham Way, and you want to take that east. You'll follow it down some steps and a curved ramp, and you'll end up at the intersection of Royal Brougham and 4th Avenue. You'll see some bus stops that say Stadium on them. Unless you really want to take the bus, ignore them, cross 4th and you'll get to the light rail platform. The Metro will sometimes run extra shuttles to and from the stadium during games so you rarely have to wait very long, although if the game was very well attended (not a problem lately, as the Mariners are not very good), it can be very crowded. So take your time and let a couple super crowded trains go so you don't have to be packed into one like a sardine in a tin can. read more
