I'm fairly new in town, and had had bad luck trying to get a particular Swiss-made guitar amplifier fixed. By word of mouth, after trying several local repairmen, I got wind of "Shon" at Sound Town. He combed over the amp tooth and nail, and finally solved the problem for me, a problem that turned out to be not so much a broken component (my guess) as operator error, a change-over from an active to passive guitar, and the need for a suitable pre-amp to boost the signal . It took a lot of testing and reading of manuals and schematics, before Sean figured out what was going on. He went so far as to compare my sound-levels with those of other amps in the stores and he was quite patient and thorough in every regard. I made several trips to the store, and became acquainted with three key people there, all of whom were very nice, and I got a feeling for their special niche in the music world, which is the supplying of sound systems and various components, whether for rentals-out or for purchase. They keep a fair supply of guitar needs and are happy to order anything you might want at a fair price. Though Guitar Center and places like Kolacny's and Flesher-Hinton all have their place, I'll always begin by shopping here because of their patience and kindness. It is a special kind of store with special kind of people, and it always feels good to be patronizing a locally owned business of modest proportions. Bravo! read more

Let me just say one thing: if you're looking to get speakers in Denver, look no further than Sound Town. Not only was Sound Town extremely professional and polite, they truly went above and beyond. Example: When I told them I was throwing a huge tailgate party for Kenny Chesney, one of the gentlemen literally brought his own gas can from his HOME just to make sure we'd have enough gas in the generator to keep the party going all day (and check out the pictures, it was a hell of a party.) We rented the full package--generator, 2 speakers, speaker stands, sub woofers, sound board, the whole thing. Extremely reasonable price and everyone had a blast. I WILL BE BACK. I took a guitar here years ago. It was an electric guitar -- the electronics were faulty, or old, and when the guitar cord was moved through normal movement, the sound either dropped out or became spotty and crackling. This soundled like a simple repair: clean the pots, or re-solder what must be a broken connection inside the body of the guitar. This took three visits. I was charged twice. When I picked up the guitar after the first visit, there was no improvement in the guitar's electronics - there was still that crackling, spotty sound... I took the guitar back, and the technician expressed that he was not willing to take the guitar completely apart, and would instead try a quick-fix... Well, this quick-fix didn't work, either. I took the guitar back a third time, and talked to Mark this time. When he looked up my account on his 30-year-old computer, he determined, by his records, that I had not paid for the repair the first time. This was false, and I tried to express that the shop would never have let me just walk out of the store with my guitar, after it had been worked on by one of their technicians.... He vowed that it would be fixed finally, for good, this third time. A week later, I was called. The guitar was ready for me to pick up again. They were going to charge me $25 for the job! When I protested, they knocked it down to $12, trying to make me feel good that the $12 only covered the technician's time. Like they were doing me a favor. I won't go back. I haven't played the guitar yet, and there's still a chance that three visits still didn't fix the guitar. read more

We needed a rental for a sound system for my father-in-laws funeral on a football field. Emotions are high, decisions are coming in from multiple avenues, and it is last minute on a holiday weekend. I had called and talked to Mark (funny side notes there are multiple M's working there... two Matt's, a Mathew and a Michael) and given him the run down of what we were trying to accomplish. Mark was beyond helpful and ran through a couple different options they had. He kept in constant contact with us via text, email and calls as we narrowed down to the event. We opted for him to do delivery, set up, and take down (which I highly recommend). Mark showed up on time, allowing plenty of time before the start of the event to make sure we could test the system. The sound quality was perfect. The microphone set up delivered crisp sound. We are all in agreement the use of Sound Town's system and Mark's expertise was one of the best vendors we have used. Also the billing and invoicing was simple to use too. All around this was a wonderful experience for the use of Sound Town for our event celebrating a wonderful man. Thank you. read more

Mark and the crew at Sound Town were amazing to work with on upgrading my school's sound system! They provided a free diagnostic/estimate on site, listened to our needs, and didn't try to upsell us on unnecessary equipment. Mark was willing to go through the process to become a preferred vendor in my school district. We needed equipment for an outdoor wedding ceremony that was outdoors with no access to electricity, as well as an indoor speaker/turntables/mixer etc. for DJ Chicken George who was coming in from Austin TX to play for our reception. We booked 10-days before, booked for delivery and pickup and everything went great. The equipment was delivered early on our wedding day, everything was as requested, for the battery operated equipment everything was fully charged and ready to go. They even included an additional cable to attach an MP3 player for music. After the evening reception, we packed up the equipment and left it. Soundtown arranged to collect on the Sunday. My mobile DJ company had a gig in Denver over Memorial day weekend. Because we were flying in, I needed to rent a PA and lights. Unfortunately, our airline lost our bags so at the last minute, I needed to add on some equipment (headphones, microphones and some cables I had in that bag). Fortunately, my controller and laptop were kept with us as carry on. Long story short, Sound Town was able to step up and make sure we had EVERYTHING we needed for that gig. And on top of that, it was all set up and ready to go by the time we got there (late due to dealing with bags and having to by emergency wedding clothing). An incredible find and the perfect example of why shopping at a locally owned business is so much better. The shop was like walking into a Harry Potter set, filled to the brim with all of the sound equipment I needed. They worked with me to create an amazing system for my venue at a really fair price! We rented a PA system and wireless mic for a wedding. Not only was the price competitive, the staff were very helpful and instructive. The sound quality was great and everything worked. If we have any need for a sound system again, we'll be returning to Sound Town. read more

Meh... I Googled options for powered speakers in the Denver area and Sound Town's website came up. On the site it says "Our large showroom speaks for itself." I finally made it over there and was really disappointed. Large showroom? No... There were some guitars, amps, mixers and speakers, but not much. It was a small room just packed with gear. Not much room to move around and a group of guys renting speakers were blocking one side of the store. The man at the register didn't even acknowledge me for a long time. Once the guys renting speakers got out of there, the employee told me they didn't have what I was looking for and kept saying he'd order whatever I wanted. He then said he just buys stuff on Amazon for his customers anyway, which I can do myself. It was a waste of gas and time. Oh well. read more

For my wedding the DJ I had previously was unreliable and I was in a bind. I found Soundtown online and rented DJ package #1. I was very impressed with the quality of the equipment and that they had an I pod hookup available (it's only 2 bucks to add on). When they delivered it, they made sure to use one of our ipods to hook up and did a sound check to make sure it worked before leaving. They also have really good customer service which reassured me for the big day (can't have a wedding without music... lol). read more

We booked SoundTown for an outdoor lecture downtown for a nonprofit organization. They were super helpful over the phone and delivery/setup of two speakers, three microphones, and PA system was a breeze. Everything worked great--the volume and speakers were clear, even despite traffic noise, etc. They stayed during the lecture and broke down everything quickly and efficiently when the event was over. They are a local business that offered a competitive price. I would definitely hire them again for future events! Highly recommend! read more
