We ordered a digital piano from Classic Pianos while there was a worldwide chip shortage, which meant no ETA from the manufacturer. During the one year wait, Bob and Megan handled my status update inquiries with grace. Bob offered a loaner that was the same model as the one we ordered at no charge , so we still had a piano to play while we waited. In addition, it helped confirm that the piano we ordered was the right one for us. I was very impressed with the quality and quantity of the inventory of Classic Pianos in Denver. I own a Kawaii Grand that I play daily and need a small digital piano for my vacation home. I've heard wonderful things about the Yamaha Clavinova line of digital pianos and was quite pleased with the sounds of the various instruments at Classic Pianos. I was on the verge of buying a Clavinova in the $6,000 range but unfortunately had a sales person who knew next to nothing about the Clavinova line. He admitted that he is a guitarist and didn't play the piano which would be ok by me, but someone should have given this gentleman some training as he was unable to answer many of my most basic questions. read more

I cannot recommend Classic Pianos highly enough! I dealt with Bob and his team in May--at a point in the pandemic when businesses were still 'trying their best' to navigate these weird times. I was able to schedule a one on one appointment, and through visiting the business to having the piano delivered everyone was very professional and clearly had everyone's comfort and safety in mind. Bob was super friendly and helpful, and the delivery process went without a hitch, even with some dubious dimensions at hand regarding a piano and a door frame--truly, kudos to those guys for making it work. I have been shopping fir my first gran piano for months. I visited all of the piano shops around Denver to get educated on how to evaluate and decide to buy a grand piano which is a big investment. Classic pianos has a huge assortment of both new and used pianos. I was first interested in buying used but ended up getting a new piano! He then gave me a sample of the tonal qualities of each by sitting and playing several pieces. He was amazing!! My mother-in-law's Steinway is about 50 years old and had never had a serious servicing. Onofrio replaced the hammers and did some other technical maintenance items at their shop. I can't believe how much better it sounds. Amazing. Their technicians have great operational skills. Sounds better than a new piano. You might need to be patient for them to order the maintenance parts, but it was well worth the wait! They also do a light refinishing of the case and that turned out well. Seemed to be a good value. The only caveat from a five star review is that they aren't too proactive in their customer service. You'll probably want to note on the calendar to follow up with them, as they tend not to call you when work is complete. Hopefully we're the exception, not the rule. In the process of returning the piano, our bench was misplaced. I'm not sure we're going to get it back, but the owner was very accommodating about getting us another bench to make up for it. His heart is in the right place; just a little disorganized. read more

I stopped in a bit ago to check out a few pianos. My wife and I have been looking for a while. I wasn't super impressed with the customer service when I walked in. I had to really try to get their attention. Maybe they thought that since I wasn't a gray hair grizzled old guy that I couldn't afford a piano. Well, no problem, I get it. They showed me a few instruments, but everything just seemed so overpriced compared to what I can find on craigslist. Yes, I understand the instruments are cleaned, tuned, serviced, etc. However, if I bought a piano off craigslist and had it serviced, tuned, and all that, I'd still come in under what they price their pianos at. I just, I don't know. I would hate to be in the piano business. It seems like pianos are a dime a dozen wherever I look. I wish these guys good luck, but they've got to improve their customer service and pianos they offer if they want my business. I won't go back. read more

Great experience while buying a Clavinova during a liquidation sale. The price was great, especially considering people are trying to sell their 10-year old models on Craigslist for not much less. I have been to another piano dealer in Denver and came away feeling pressured by the salesman, who was a self-proclaimed guitar guy selling pianos. In contrast, I appreciated that Don read me well as a customer. Don knew when to leave me alone to noodle around on the different models and when to check in and answer questions. Although he knew I wasn't going to buy one, he also spent a lot of time talking Steinways with me (Onofrio is a Yamaha dealer), showing me some of the heirlooms on the sales floor. He also suggested voices on the Clavinova that I would like, based on the kind of piano I like. When I'm finally set up to buy an grand old Steinway, I hope I'll get lucky and hit on one at Onofrio. I went into Classic Pianos looking to buy a "beginner" piano for my granddaughter to take lessons. While there, I was "educated" by Chris Ranney. Chris was patient, thorough and answered all of my questions. After showing me all the painos within my price range and availability, he asked me if I had considered a digital piano. Quite frankly, I hadn't...primarily because my son thought all digital pianos were just glorified "keyboards." I discovered how very wrong my son was. Chris demonstrated by playing a beautiful song on the nicest Yahama Grand Piano I have ever seen. I listened and loved the piece. He then led me to a Yamaha CLP-535. He suggested that I close my eyes and listen. He played the same piece as he did on the Grand Piano. I honestly could not distinguish the difference. Then Chris explained all the various features...and there were quite a few. Knowing that my very bright and digitally-capable granddaughter would learn and know how to use all of the CLP's features in the future, I could easily visualize the CLP being the better choice. And I wasn't wrong. My granddaughter was ecstatic and immediately began testing the options. I am very confident that Chris Ranney guided me to the very best decision I could have made. Add to the fact that the upgrade policy of Classic Piano is exceptional and that the price beat the internet...even with delivery, I was sold. Thank you to Chris for spending the time with me and helping me make a long term decision that I will never regret. I looked at other music stores before venturing into Classic Piano. We purchased a new piano from Classic Pianos about 6 months ago. The piano has been great and the salesperson Bob was quite knowledgable. We did not realize the piano would need to be tuned 3-4 times in the first year alone. We asked Classic Pianos to recommend a piano tuner. They suggested Jackson Piano Service to tune the piano. Michael Jackson - no, not that Michael Jackson- is the piano tuner that came to our house. While he was a competent piano tuner, he was more than happy to tell us about his 45 years of experience and that our piano basically sounded like crap when I asked if the entire piano needed tuning or just a select few keys. He acted like a know it all and charged us $150 for his 30 minutes of work. I am not sure if that is a fair price or not. His attitude was a bit much for my taste. read more

I can't recommend based on my experience. While the company's webpage indicates that in addition to sales, they also are in the business of purchasing and consigning pianos. I did not find this to be true. Something to consider when buying one from them if they use that they do as part of the sales pitch. First, I left several messages that went unreturned. When I finally was able to make an appointment for a technician to evaluate our Steinway and Sons, he did not show up, nor call to cancel or explain why. I called back after a few days and finally was able to get a technician to assess the piano. He found relatively little wrong, certainly nothing I wouldn't have been prepared to address in order to sell the piano. Again, after not hearing from Classic Pianos I called to take next steps. I again left a message only to be called back by their receptionist that they had no interest in buying nor consigning the piano. In a customer focused business the manager or buyer would make that call to me, not someone who didn't know the reasons. While declining to purchase or consign is within the business's right, unprofessional communication and conduct needlessly prolonged my pursuing Classic Pianos as an option. An option I only pursued due to the overall favorable customer service reviews. From my experience as a seller, my one star review might be a caution to those who may be a potential buyer and values service after the sale. If your looking to sell or consign a piano, don't waste significant time as I did. read more
