I was un decisive on where I wanted to spend my 30 th birthday this year. The club and party scene is still fun however, I wanted to try something different. After looking into Soul Land, I immediately knew I had found the right place. I gathered a group of my closest friends (approximately 15) and didn't notify them on what we were about to do. Making Reservations with Soul Land was incredibly easy and self explanatory. Their website was super cute and very informative. Not overwhelming at all!! The day of my birthday, my best friend came in a bit earlier than the scheduled reservation and decorated our area for my birthday it was super cute!! When I got there, I was greeted by my friends and Mike Salas (Owner). Mike was super cool and funny! I immediately felt at home. The vibe was LIT! Me and my girls had so much fun!! The music was amazing. I was asked for song requests which made me feel special. The girls (staff) were soo cool. They met the vibe and were so out going! They helped me get my pottery experience on. Although I was a newbie, I think I did a great job! I was excited with the turn out. Last but definitely not the least, the catering experience was remarkable. Definitely the cherry on top. It's a must try! Overall 10/10 experience. I will be returning for more memories. I want to experience the Tote bag painting and definitely the open mic event! I've been to Soulland Lab twice already and love it so much, I've already set a third date. The shop has a fun vibrant vibe with many options to choose from for your project. The staff is friendly, open and they give great advice. It's wonderful for a group because there are so many projects you can do... so there is something for everyone. You can even bring snacks and drinks. If you paint a pottery piece, they glaze it and then text you a cute picture when it's ready to pick up in about 2 weeks. If you are thinking about checking it out, go for it! You won't regret it. read more

My friend and I came here per my request, since I walk in Old Towne in the mornings and the place looks like it has a cool vibe. We got to choose from either ceramics, canvas tote bag, or a paint by number canvas with a selection of acrylic or ceramic paints. My 3 stars are because the customer service was poor and there were other things that could be improved upon. The selection of canvas bags and ceramics was very limited. We ended up doing ceramics and the paint came in these little tiny round plastic containers in which I needed 4 to paint the outside of a mug. There were 3 girls working there, but the most helpful one disappeared for a significant amount of time and the other 2 were doing something in the back, so anytime we had a question or needed more paint, we had to get up and go ask, which took up time of the 2 hours we paid for. It was our 1st time there, which they asked, and I didn't see til the end that they had bigger paint brushes, so I was disappointed that I used an hour to paint the outside of my cup with a small paintbrush and wasn't offered a bigger one. The upside is the music was good. They have a modern electronic jukebox where if you want to pay to play music, you can, but I did enjoy the music they were playing. Also, they allow to bring in food. Someone was having a birthday party and that looked like it may be fun as well. Overall, we spent 2 hours and paid almost $50 each to paint a ceramic mug, which I think is comparable to Color Me Mine, but we decided next time we will go to Color Me Mine because you get more paint in one sitting and the staff is way more attentive. I hope management or owner take heed to my review because I love new small shops in Old Towne Orange, but it could use many improvements to make it worth my while. read more

Never leave bad reviews but we had a horrible experience here (11/09/23 from 4-6pm). Studio not transparent about prices of items to paint until you grab them. $19+tax to paint an outlet cover?? Asked for canvas options and employee told us that the one we chose was $10. We were asked once during the 2 hours if we needed more paint, while the employee sat on her phone. When we got to the register, were told "actually those were $20/each not $10" when we could've been made aware for 2hrs. We did not complain the whole time but I had to speak up and say that it was unfair that we would pay price not mentioned. Was given a small discount and then asked for tip. Told us we would get a photo but she walked away after we paid. Wish I could give 0 stars tbh. read more

I will start by saying that the concept of this business is very cool and I love the idea, however they do NOT have a handle on it. I took 7 people to celebrate my birthday since they offered many different projects. One person picked out a paint by number canvas and the rest of us picked out pottery to paint. The paint for the paint by numbers project did not match the colors in the reference image (very different shades), so the finished project just did not come out in a way they hoped. In regard to the pottery; They do not have sample tiles for the ceramics, nor do they have all the colors you may want. We were told a timeframe of one week for firing our finished pieces and we would receive calls so that we could come back to pick them up (spoilers it was twice that). After a week passed and no call, I had to try several numbers listed for the business (the one on the website is incorrect). I finally got through and I was told my pieces were ready for pick up and that I could come in the next day. I attempted to pick up the next day only to find that they closed early. (They do not have officially posted hours, and both apple and google have different/ incorrect hours) After this someone else from my party made a second attempt to pick up and they were told only a few of the pieces were ready. After a few more days I had to reach out again to see if the remaining pieces were now actually ready, to which I was told yes. Once I arrived there was no staff in the front of the business, just customers painting. After a few minutes they came out and were able to give the pieces to me, however one was damaged. The solution that they came up with was to paint several of the same piece on my friend's behalf and hope that their recreation was good enough. All in all, I think an update to their business practices is needed.. they don't know what they are doing and you can really feel it as a customer. If you want a stress free experience I'd find a different studio. read more

Cannot recommend enough!! Truly the best spot in OC for a night out to do something different. As a small business owner, I'm always looking to support people who also run small businesses and give back. I first found Soulland when they were hosting their events in different locations. I was super excited to visit their location in the Orange Circle. The layout of this studio is immaculate. You can't help but have fun the moment you step in to all the color, good music, and friendly workers. Even better, the resident puppy! I got to hang out with Gunner while I painted. I have zero artistic ability but the paint by numbers options makes the process way more within my capabilities. I actually reached out to Soulland and had them custom a piece for me to paint of my dog! It came out so accurate and I was able to take it home to finish since I wanted to make sure it was perfect. HIGHLY recommend spending time here and tuning in to their events. You will have a blast and feel so welcomed. read more

When your hours show that your open from 10-5pm and there are individuals inside and a customer standing outside trying to open the door one should be polite and come to the door and let them know maybe there not open at the moment. That's first, next would be the inconsiderate treatment of a potential customer who now is standing outside calling the business to kindly ask about a painting they are interested in, now you see the person standing outside and you still don't get up to acknowledge them, which again I was ok with because I really wanted to know the price for this painting. The woman takes down my information name and email and said she would send me all the information on it. Fast forward to today which this all occurred Friday and I still never received anything so I found the artist myself in the end and got the information. Do better with customer service because that entire experience was a mess. read more

Just left this place and what a disaster! We were so excited about finding this place and getting to paint since this a huge hobby of ours. Everything was great until check out... when checking out the gal working Hudson rung us didn't tell us the price and just handed us the receipt... $109.00. When the pricing on the wall called $29.00... If we would have known the price we would have left. I think it's super unprofessional you don't tell us pricing when ringing us up then when we ask after you just say no that's the price and not even being helpful! This place I will never ever go to and will not refer anyone to! I know a lot of locals that live in the area and love to paint won't recommend! Do better! read more

Just celebrated my 26th bday at Soul+Land with 10 of my closest friends here and absolutely loved everything about my experience with Soul+Land. From the consultation process to the actual paint & sip event, the owners and the entire team went above and beyond to accommodate our large group and make this the most enjoyable experience . Communication was always fast and attentive. I was sent my own personalized flyer designed by Soul+Land, with a link to send over to my friends for them to buy their tickets individually. I also was able to bring in my bday cake to share here. The positive energy & passion overflows here. One of the owners, Mike and his adorable pup greeted us upon arriving & his team got us started straight away with drinks, music, & our paintings. The girls that were hosting us through that night were so fun, sweet and attentive, they kept the drinks flowing and vibes high! The aesthetics here are on point, from the studio, the glass drink flutes, to the restrooms.
