We signed up for the one-time adult pottery class and had a great experience at the Laguna Beach studio! For $50 the class includes the opportunity to make one hand built item, one wheel-thrown item, and the chance to come back and glaze your pieces! Parking is quite limited but it's in a very central location with lots of options for shopping and food nearby after class. The instructors are super helpful and knowledgeable, and the class sizes are small (capped at 5 participants I think) so we received lots of personalized and hands-on guidance. The glaze colors that they offer are also gorgeous, and microwave/dishwasher safe!

Fantastic! My better half booked this pottery class for the two of us and two of our friends as none of us ever threw pottery like this. Anika was instrumental in properly instructing us and making sure we were on track. Yes, an hour only and quite intense but 100% worth it. Highly recommended!

Came here with my girlfriend for the spinning wheel class and had a lot of fun. I didn't know what to expect but I'm glad I went Our instructor Cora was very friendly and made it fun

Pieces we made for beginner class.

So quiet and close quarters so it's easier to learn and follow along. Very beginner friendly but also very easy to build on for more advanced techniques. The option to come back and paint your pieces for the beginner class is amazing too. Loved it, will be purchasing another class.

Love love love this place. Have gone twice now, once with a friend and once with my daughter. I wish we lived closer as I would be very interested in their membership! Highly recommend. Great space and great teachers

What a fun time I had at my very first pottery workshop! It was something I always wanted to do and I'm so glad I did. I appreciate all the pre-class communication, the clear instructions and that our instructor even laughed at my stupid jokes. Thanks for taking photos and helping make the afternoon memorable. I'm certain I'll be back!

There's metered parking on the street but I parked in the public lot 12. Luckily on my way to pay for my spot a couple gave me their all day parking. Passed it forward and gave my parking stub for all day to another family when I came back. If you cross the street from the lot and make a right and continue down left you'll find the pottery studio. You can buy pottery but I was there for a 1 hour class that was gifted to me and my partner. The class didn't start away since the pottery teacher was still working with a couple from the previous class. We didn't have a long wait though. Prior to class starting there's a rack where you can hang your jacket, bags, etc. You'll put on an apron next to the rack because it can get messy but I was able to leave clothes unscathed. It takes months to get good at the pottery but the process was fun. We kneaded the clay to prevent air bubbles. A second clay is pre-kneaded. We made a planter and plate in one hour. Nicole was really helpful explaining and helping us fix issues that arose during the process. It'll take 4 weeks before you can pick up your pieces. You get to pick the glaze (color). It's a very soothing process even if you botch your pottery. Don't expect perfection the first time around. I would recommend this experience to anyone who wants to try something new.

SO COOOOL! This experience was gifted to me for my birthday. It was $45 for a one hour session in which you were able to create a small bowl and a cup. We got to make the cup on the wheel which was awesome. After 2-3 weeks you're able to return to paint your pieces and it is included in the initial price. The instructor was very sweet and attentive (I can't remember her name but she was blonde and had cute green eyeliner lol). The class was with another couple, so four people total. It made for an intimate experience. The price was incredible. Similar experiences were easily over $100 per person. Would definitely go back.

Taking a pottery class had been at the top of my list of hobbies to try out for the longest time and I'm beyond glad that I went with ARTime Barro!! My friend and I took an early morning class to make small planters and dishes. It ended up just being the two of us and we had the best time! Our instructor was super welcoming, funny, and informative. For our particular class, we got to pick a glaze color and they glazed and fired it for us. It was ready for pick up a few weeks later. A great deal for such a hands-on class! Couldn't have asked for a better first experience. The studio itself is really cute, but on the smaller side. Parking can also be quite the challenge. If you're lucky, there are a few spots out front, but they tend to get snatched up pretty fast.

What a wonderful experience. I took my granddaughters to the Laguna Beach location. Robert, their instructor was amazing! He was very helpful, knowledgeable and patient with all their questions. They were each able to create two designs of their own .. one on the wheel and one by hand. I highly recommend ARTime Barro for all ages. We plan to go back!

1st on the spinner thingy, not bad!

We loved it! So much fun! The instructor and staff were so friendly. We liked the two couples we were with, laughed a lot. Awesome date night. Really loved seeing my hubby's creative side come out!! We liked it so much that we will take our moms with us next time. My hubby wants another crack at the spinning thing! Highly recommended.

Showed up at the wrong location, but they were able to still accommodate me. It was my birthday. I had an awesome time making a bowl and a plate. I'm super excited to see how it's going to turn out when they're done glazing it definitely going back again and again it is so relaxing and fun. It was my very first time here and the instructor was pretty stoked at how well I did.

We took a pottery class and made a bowl + plate for our succulents! Great instructor! So much fun.

I've been to the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach probably three or four times now between the…read moresummer and winter festivals and despite the crowds, the traffic, and the absurd lines... I keep going back! I usually attend with a close friend and while she's more of the purchaser, I tend to be a window shopper and craft admirer soaking it all in while seeing what surprises the booths contain. Though last monthI did pick up a few Christmas gifts for friends and family even though there wasn't much holiday specific merchandise. It felt great to support local artists and find some unique pieces. The winter festival decor is especially great with the cozy lights, festive touches, and plenty of spots that are great photo ops for both adults and families. The whole place is whimsical and creative and part of the fun is simply wandering without a plan and seeing what you find! Now for the realities: parking is insane, traffic can be really bad, and the lines for entry, food, and sometimes even the restrooms can really test your patience. The food lines in particular are ridiculous, so I usually eat before and/or plan dinner outside the festival (it's cheaper and less crazy). Pro tip: buy your ticket online and show it at the door. Do not wait in line to purchase tickets on site unless you enjoy unnecessary suffering!! All that said, the Sawdust Festival remains uniquely Laguna and there's always that sense of mystery about what you'll discover. Overall, four stars from me!

We went on December 21st, which was apparently the last day of the Sawdust Winter Fantasy event in…read moreLaguna Hills. This was our first, and possibly our last time that we will be attending one of these events. The parking situation was insane. We sat in bad traffic (caused by the festival as well as the construction being done on the highway) heading to Lot 16, only to find out after 35 minutes of slowly creeping and lapping down the minimal amount of lanes of parking (along with many other drivers doing the same thing) that we should just turn around and head back to Irvine for their free temporary lot instead. So we sat in major traffic again now headed back to Irvine to hopefully catch a trolley from there. (There went about an hour of our lives wasted.) So we get back to that lot and wait another 20 minutes or so only to find out that the next trolley that pulled up leaking all kinds of stuff, and the driver telling everyone that the trolley is out of commission and that the group would have to wait for the next one. Oy! So at this point we would have called it quits and cancelled this option for the day, BUT we had already prepaid online for our tickets... So we decided to spring for an uber instead. We were originally FIRST in line, but because the trolley pulled up to the stop and just parked there (blocking) broken down, everyone turned and faced the other way and now we would have been the absolute LAST loading the next trolley. (There was a huge crowd by then.) Our uber experience was much more pleasant, but there we were once again sitting in heavier traffic heading back in the direction we were originally that morning. What a day... Long story short, we get in and there are just crowds EVERYWHERE. It was so tight at times trying to walk past the individual booths, and hearing people (including multiple vendors) just hacking and sneezing away WAS NOT helping. Our family had managed to remain healthy and disease free all Winter, and we were definitely not planning on getting the flu, COVID or whatever as this seemed like a true disease spreader event. The food and drinks area were much worse, and once we got our food we ended up squeezing ourselves into a little pocket of an area and stood to drink our drinks and eat our quick meals. After perusing the entire proximity and spending a little time chatting with a few of the vendors, we took a few photos by the central Christmas tree and a little scenery (trying my best not to get any crowds into our shots), and headed our way out to the trolley. As we passed the ticket booth, we asked a young gal which direction the trolleys would be picking up and she just rudely shrugged and said she didn't know. The afternoon and evening ended up being quite long because of all the parking hassles and crowds. I don't feel it was worth our time for that day.
