Last Friday I attended a Soulful Sound Bath with Melanie of Soulful Fox, hosted at The Yoga Center, and it was such a beautiful experience from beginning to end.
I had never been to The Yoga Center before and was immediately struck by how beautiful the space was. Natural light poured through the building, and live plants filled the space, creating a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere before even walking into the room where the event would be held.
The room comfortably held about a dozen participants, with yoga mats already set up and ready for us. Each space included two blankets, a headrest, and a thoughtful gift--a small amethyst crystal accompanied by a card explaining its properties and ways to work with it.
Shoes were removed at the door, which added to the feeling of entering a sacred and intentional space.
Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by Dr. Gaffney and Melanie. There were oracle cards laid out for anyone who felt called to pull a message, and of course I couldn't resist
Before the sound bath began, Melanie guided us through breathwork and a grounding meditation. Her words were intentionally spoken, and her voice was incredibly soothing. Once we settled in, Dr. Gaffney quietly moved throughout the room, gently touching our shoulders before placing acupuncture pins so no one would be startled while resting.
I chose to use the lavender eye pillow and mouth tape they provided, which helped me relax even deeper into the experience. At one point, I had a fascinating sensation of viewing the room from a completely different perspective, almost as if I had stepped outside of myself for a moment. It was such an interesting experience.
The sound bath itself was deeply relaxing. I drifted in and out of short naps, and judging by the gentle snoring around the room, I wasn't the only one
I've attended two other sound baths in the past, and while those were wonderful experiences as well, each one has been completely unique. This combination of sound healing, guided meditation, and acupuncture created an experience unlike any other.
I already see Dr. Gaffney regularly for acupuncture, which is how I learned about this event, and I'm so grateful I attended. If you've ever been curious about sound baths or simply giving yourself permission to deeply rest, I highly recommend experiencing one for yourself.
