What a great restaurant!!…read more We were looking for a place to eat before going to the opera at La Scala. The challenge is that most nice restaurants do not start serving until 7:00 PM and the opera starts at 8:00 PM. The few who specialize in opera dinners are pricey and we're booked out. This was a great find. It is a 10 min walk from La Scala and offered a fantastic diner, great service, and nice ambiance. There are really two parts to the restaurant, one offers street service and is located to the front, and the other is more formal and is down stairs. We were lucky enough to find a place downstairs. I would suggest asking for this. There are also two menus, one short menu, and a second full menu with starts at 7:00 PM (too late for the opera). The short menu was great. We charged and appetizer and two mains (one risotto and a roasted veal cutlet). Both were fantastic! The restaurant did a cocktail pairing (their creation) with dinner which we enjoyed as well. The service was excellent, maybe because we were so early. I would love to go back just for the full dinner on an occasion without the need to go early, in time for the opera. I loved this place and would highly recommend it.

The waiter told me as I was leaving "I hope you won't leave us a bad review" and I'm like bro you just screwed us both so....yeah bad review incoming. He's making the claim he had the right to charge us this this because it "wasn't on the menu" and I'm like well if it's not on the menu then maybe don't f****** serve it or tell us how much it costs. I pointed out to this asshat at the time, too, that he didn't tell us that it was going to be that much, which is AT THE LEAST a courtesy. I don't think my friend could afford it, but I could, and that's pretty unfortunate considering that he really screwed us over, and I did not expect to spend $60 on dinner tonight for 3 glasses of wine and a pizza with a TINY glass of grappa at the end. If you must stop, only for glass of wine or 2, but don't do anything more because apparently you will definitely get FUCKED on the bill, so definitely make sure you read your bill before you leave too.... You know what, in hindsight I just wouldn't come here. But I didn't get dessert that probably would of cost me $20 more. Luxury dining prices with McDonald's quality, shame because the evening started out so promising, but the female bartender left and that made it a man's world with single female diners. Poor dude is just sad to be going home alone after he heard I was single. Enjoy your blue-balls asshole, you can use the money you charged us, probably as a tip, to buy some smokes once you're done with your right hand. And yeah, here's my negative review you cheap SOB. Damn if you weren't the worst waiter in my 7 weeks of vacation. Enjoy and by the way congratulations because you're the first waiter in 7 weeks that has actually charged me for grappa. Everyone else has just been excited to share their culture but you saw dollar signs. What goes around comes around, son. At least I'm not you. Also, as an American, I still tip for good service. You could've gotten an honest tip, but you're just a douchebag who couldn't give two girls the heads up that you were going to charge us the equivalent of a cocktail for what was basically a shot. At least I made friend, everything else was a crapshoot.

I would recommend making a reservation during prime hours and sitting outside if they have space there. The pizzas are the thin crust Roman style and very solid - the classic Margherita is the one to get as the execution is fantastic. You get the flavor of a NYC slice made with better ingredients and with a great thin crust. This reminds me of Marta in NYC which closed during COVID. The classic entrees are made in the comfort food style - solid flavors, generous portions, and good ingredients. Be sure to try the costelleta or ossobucco. The cutlet is perfectly tender with a crispy crust served with fantastic roasted potatoes. The ossobucco itself is just okay but the risotto is very satisfying especially with the bone marrow. If you are by the Duomo or Galleria and want comfort food this is a great option.

We also ordered the fried zucchini flower... yes I understood it would be fried but it is such a delicate food, I didn't think it would be heavily coated and cooked to a crisp. Too heavy a preparation for such a beautifully delicate vegetable. My friend loved the Norma, so that must have been good. It was a mix of arugula-style greens with beet and watermelon that hit sweet, savory, and salty all at once. The chicken with fresh peaches was equally great. Everything tasted like it belonged together on the plate. Then the panna cotta. This was the grand finale. Easily the best I have ever had. Smooth and creamy with that texture that is just barely set, still a little loose. It came with what I believe was a grape must sauce and I am still thinking about it.
