The prices are fair, the menu is standard (offers standard dishes you want to try in Milan.) The veal milano was too heavy, I'd prefer the ones in Vienna. Maybe because it's fried in butter. 6/10 my family said. Didn't finish it. The Osso Buco was fair. Small portion didn't finish either. The appetizer of Scallops was fine, a bit too salty. We had a hard time deciding where to eat tonight because there are so many restaurants in this plaza, but based upon reviews we decided on this spot, and I think we made a good choice. Prices were fair, and the staff was very attentive. We were able to get some good Italian music and food here. The four cheese pizza is the da bomb. The best choice for a meal after an opera at La Scala. Wow - I was surprised this was good, but we got there at 11:15pm, right after the opera, we were seated and so many folks from the opera were there, including the singers! I thought the food was going to be very mid - similar to Fiorello's in NYC - but it was absolutely great! The tuna carpaccio was absolutely amazing and then cacio e pepe was better than any cacio e pepe i've ever had in NYC. The pizza was more than decent, though not an outstanding piece. Decent meal and good service in an area with lots of tourist traps. This is probably the best choice of the restaurants in the galleria area. Came by myself (no reservation) and got seated in about ten minutes. I would definitely recommend a reservation for two or more. I ordered the scallop gratin and bolognese pasta. First I will say that this place brings you a lot gratis. Like three kinds of bread (roll, breadsticks, and like a super thin marinara pizza or such). Also a shrimp hors d'oeuvre. The waiter was super friendly and the whole staff good, which was nice because I had so much bad service in my time in Milan. The scallop was not what I was expecting and a little pricy for what it was. Three scallops in some breading. Not the greatest, but ok. The bolognese was awesome. Kind of a small place, but nice. The best part of the restaurant is the ambiance. You're right in the middle of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, what inspired the gallery gourmet from the movie Wonka (which I love) so you have great people watching if you're out front, as we were, and beautiful storefronts and the iron and glass rafters. The next best part of this restaurant is the service, they were operating as a well oiled machine and took care us with extreme care. Lastly the food. Don't read that as the food is bad, as it's not. It's just not the best part. The food is adequate, I tried the Veal Milanese and some of my wife's Risotto Milanese, as those are Milan's signature dishes. For dessert we got the tiramisu and the chocolate pear torte. The tiramisu was fine but the torte was pretty great. We came here for lunch on a Thursday amid a long shopping day. The restaurant is in the middle of the galleria with both indoor and "outdoor" seating. We sat inside where it was moderately air conditioned. For lunch I ordered the chicken and vegetables and my husband ordered the diavolo pizza. I think the service was some of the best I have gotten in Milan. However the food was just good and I was a bit disappointed with the dessert. I had the polenta with cod as a appetizer. This was something I wouldn't get again, it felt like they got fish dip and threw it on the polenta. The ossobuco with risotto was was the star of the show but it left me wanting more. Our first night ended at Galleria and it wasn't disappointed. We all had different meals and all were good with the exception of the lamb special. I personally can't eat lasagna in America, hate the cheese portions. This lasagna was made with a bechamel and bolognese and it was delicious. They offer several bread options with a thin pizza for snacks. Good wine selection. Great wait staff. They noticed the uneaten lamb and removed it from the bill. I would like to complement their service attitude. However, surprises are coming non-stop. First, there's no sign says minimum order, yet we were asked to order an entree per person at 3:00pm while the restaurant was not crowded. (The pizza is 12inch) The server told us it's a very good restaurant we should not come in only order shared foods. When we asked if we could order appetizers or desserts. The server had to emphasize again that they usually ask to order entrees because it's a very crowded restaurant. Even when I asked if I could decide later because I didn't want to order whatever and waste foods when no one had any ideas of what to order, they kept pushing till I said we can go to other place. Don't be fooled. I'm here to tell you that it's really no different than the quality of the food in the United States. There are impeccable dining experiences to be had in both countries, and a whole lot of mediocrity that is all too easy to find. As an example, Milan's famous Galleria shopping strip is filled with touristy restaurants of low quality, including this one named after the shopping facility itself. It's just awful Italian food. Milan is known for its veal cutlet, but there version might just be the worst in the city! The bread isn't even good, and it's difficult to mess up bread! All of the food is truly uninspired. Worst of all, smoking is allowed outside. If you don't get seated inside the restaurant, be prepared for toxic smoke to ruin your meal. read more

Out with family visiting Europe, it's our third day of the pasta so expectations are high. We are a troublesome bunch with picky eaters and Celiacs but dive in. Menu isn't too large, but they have a separate menu for my daughter who has Celiacs. Big points that the waiter knew what could and couldn't be added to her meal. We ended up with the GF penne pesto Pizza Diavolo Lasagna Tagliatelle Bolognese Shortly after ordering we received the complementary bread, very small portion compared to other places. They were individual rolls that were tasty and not much to talk about. I prefer a rustic slice of bread but it was fine. The bigger issue was my daughter received no Gluten free bread. I had read reviews other places where they did this without asking. Food took standard European time to arrive. It's within expectation and very normal, but we were all hangry by then and this didn't help. It was brought out and placed on a separate table and then left there for two minutes for some reason. GL Penne The sauce was plentiful and delicious, more than enough for our 11yr old. Pizza - exactly what you would expect from Italian pizza. They advertise a wood oven and it looks the part. Toppings and everything were on point with great balance. Lasagna was smaller than normal and my expensive teenage boy was begging off everyone else's plates shortly after. I would say avoid this one but maybe leave the teenage boy at home instead :) Tagliatelle - wonderful. The meat sauce was perfect and the noodles exactly as they should be. The presentation/twirl of the food makes it look deceptively small. This was a full belly meal. All in all I would eat again, with the only real detractor being the price. Never before have I had such heavy, filling, but delicious pasta. If youre an Italian foodie like me, the gnochetti is to die for. It has just enough potato and cheese and believe me, even a small serving size is enough for one person. In this duomo villa, I also tried a wide array and variety of gelato, my favorite of which were....all of them. They were all genuinely tasty and reasonably affordable for a little snack; it also helped that the Duomo is a very entertaining walk with many things to see. A good pizza On my arrival to Italy several days ago and when I had my first pizza, I whined how flimsy the bottom crust was, and now after many more pizzas, I like it. That's the kind of pizza I had at Galleria, crispy crust along the edge, no support from the bottom crust at all. I'm learning how to cut it, hold it, and enjoy it. I certainly liked the Diavola pizza I had a few days ago. I also liked the service, professional and accessible. Some places I've visited have servers not as accessible. It may have been where we were sitting inside that helped. They have a great location, inside the long Emanuele II mall off the Piazza del Doumo. They have outdoor seating where you can watch the crowd. We sat inside by choice, the try to keep away from smokers. I thought the price for the pizza was fine for a place that would be catering to tourists. My 7 euro coke zero in a bottle I thought was ridiculously high. American restaurants also make much of their money on drinks, alcoholic or not, but 7 euro was quite a markup. Still, overall, it was better than I expected and I left happy. read more

After touring the Duomo and La Scala and taking a lucky spin on the bull's balls in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II we settled down for late lunch at this quintessential Italian restaurant in the Galleria. While the prices were somewhat higher than surrounding places, as befits a really touristy area, we were more than wowed by the level of service and the little extra touches that were added by our most professional of waiters. These included a complimentary and delicious pre-meal amuse-bouche of a cheesy arancini, and a finale presenting an assortment of three buttery and crispy pastries. The pizzas were very good, but the highlight of the meal was tagliatelle with shaved truffles and butter sauce. Perfectly al dente tagliatelle with a generous helping of shaved truffles for €22 makes the expense of a trip to Italy all the more worthwhile. After Covid, we watched as the waiters meticulously polished every piece of glassware until it sparkled and were very sensitive about proximity during their service. This was a most pleasant experience after a very warm afternoon of trudging through Milano. read more

We were seated outside in a corner, but I had a clear view of the center of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
