We enjoyed a group lunch at Signorvino adjacent to Duomo de Milan after a private tour of the cathedral. The food and service were good, and the wine selection was very good. The second floor provided a more quiet setting than the first floor, which is really more part of the outside sidewalk seating... nice people watching, but very noisy! LOL The pre-set menu we had included a meat and appetizer tray, pasta, chicken cutlet, dessert and cappuccino ... we returned to the restaurant a second time for a quick bite when back in Milan before our trip home. We were skeptical when our hotel concierge recommended a chain restaurant, but this was one of our best meals in Milan! This location is convenient to many tourist sites and has a view of the back side of Duomo. I want to advise that the restaurant directly next to Signorvino was very pushy and practically pulled us to sit down at one of their tables. Upon being seated and seeing the menu we realized we were sitting in the wrong place. It is very deceiving, as the outdoor seating spaces for the two restaurants are practically connected. I suspect that many of the poor reviews written here are for that restaurant (especially the reviews that mention "pictures on the menu" - Signorvino menu does not have pictures). Once we realized our mistake, we were shown to an indoor table at Signorvino. We were walked through a very impressive wine shop to get to the restaurant on the second floor. The ambiance is very nice, with big windows and lots of natural light. I ordered the Tomato and Burrata Spaghetti - simple but very delicious, and one of my favorite spaghetti dishes of the entire trip! The sauce was very fresh and tasty. The rudest place you can take a glass of wine on the plaza or possibly all of Milano ... in fact , as a customer when you try to order a 'common' Italian sparkling wine and the waiter first acknowledges you and your order and then says , 'What ?!' So loudly to you no less than 3x .. take that as a sign to leave. Since it's a common aperitif here and nothing he didn't understand, I knew it wasn't my poor Italian..& I even spoke my broken Franglish when I ordered the 4th time; yet my husband who ordered a KEEOHNTEE in perfect English got no sass from this waiter yet a awful glass of Chianti when it was served along with my stale Prosecco. This waiter was just a chauvinist jerk. This place is not only rude , it's smoke filled and awful to the people who are it's bread and butter off the plaza - tourists. They are seated in the back or the side. Some refuse and get up and take tables at the front which annoy the rude waiter. I could not drink my gross Prosecco so I asked for the check .. which I asked my husband to pay while I was off to the water closet. That was another slap- the ONLY nice person here works inside by the WC - he advised me someone was in the WC- a few moments later the younger of the two waiters we had appeared to yell at me to 'wait here lady!' - ha , I was in the way! It gets better - I returned to collect our stuff and be on our way to somewhere nicer with better service - wine - staff and food & notice that our bill had a $2.50 'service charge ' attached !!!! We were so excited to visit this wine bar since it was steps away from the Duomo and had a warm ambiance. Unfortunately, the staff ruined that excitement for us. They were so rude and never made it over to our table. We ended up leaving after sitting there for almost 20 minutes while the waiter (who looked dirty & had his underwear exposed) ignored us the entire time. It felt as if he wanted us to leave. We rarely pull the race card but it certainly crossed our minds. This is such a great place - please improve your service & tell your staff to pull up their pants! This was a rest stop after taking a tour on the rooftop of the Duomo. I thought it was going to be just a few spritz, but hunger crept in and I got the bruschetta as well. We ordered Lasagna, spaghetti that were very delicious and we ordered the risotto that was very bad, inedible and I asked to return it or change it, they said yes. So we ordered The spicy Penni that was very good. The portions are very small and the prices were very expensive. We had a little leftovers so we asked to take it with is. The bill came and they charged us for the risotto and they charged us €1.50 to take the leftovers and they charged us €4 for the sit down in the restaurant. Each dish was €14. So the bill came to €63.50. When we asked why were we charged for the risotto they became very offensive. They were very rude and started yelling at us. Again, the food was very delicious except for the risotto, the prices were expensive and they it was a rip off, not to mention how rude they were. read more

Signorvino is a very good italian restaurant behind the Duomo. As the name suggests their basic business is wine and believe me they have a lot. All regions of Italy are represented and the wines grouped per region. The place is like a big discovery place for wine lovers. Obviously you can buy all wines at reasonable prices or/and taste them directly on site. A few tables are set up among the many bottles of wines, which makes the place quite unique. Now you can't just drink, so Signorvino offers a small food menu that goes from cold cuts to several choices of pasta. Often in these places food is average as they are specialists in wine. Not so in Signorvino, above all the pasta is incredibly good and made in house. Good portions at a very good price. All in all we had a lovely evening at Signovino and I can certainly recommend the place. If they'd be a bit better organized among the waiters and may enhance a little bit the experience while seated I'd give them the fifth start! read more

Buy the wine if you want, sit and have a glass but don't eat here. It's just a tourist dive. Expected it but the restaurant is close to exit to the Duomo with a nice view and we were tired. Ordered safe and had the plate of assorted meats and a plate of cheeses. The waiter informed us that the picture on the menu of the cheese plate, 16€, did not include the Mozzarella shown and it would cost 10€ extra. I went for it. Waste of money. The Mozzarella was a small round, not creamy and not fresh. The other cheeses were ok but not a 25€ plate. Avoid this place and find someplace in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. read more

I sat at the bar with my husband in the afternoon/early evening and the service is really, really slow. They don't pay much attention to you at all. Super cute spot for our first dinner in Milano! This place was recommended to us by a friendly salesman in Prada - and he did good! There was a minor 20 minute wait around 7:30pm for dinner on a Saturday evening. We were seated after 15 minutes! The dining tables are smack in the center of the wine shop ... so if eating while people are shopping for vino around you isn't your thing, you might wanna skip out. They also have an outdoors dining area on the ground level, but with such a nice evening, the wait for that was quite long. We ordered a red from the region as well as osso bucco and some freshly made pasta. The food was delictable and the wine was great! The meal itself wasn't insanely priced either for being in the Duomo district. The only odd thing I noticed was that our waiter switched throughout the meal. That, and he wasn't very friendly, but that's what I hear about the waitstaff throughout much of Europe, so no harm no foul! read more

Good location, in front of the cathedral, that is pretty much it. The service is not particularly friendly, they need to do their figures obviously. The second day we tried to go, we were refused seating because we only wanted to get a quick coffee due to freezing out asses off in the line to the cathedral rooftop. Great spot! This place was recommended by another restaurant since we were looking for wines to bring back home. We walk up the stairs and we are immediately shocked that it isnt a regular wine stores. Its a full blown restaurant in the evenings i suppose or maybe all day. Theirs tables between all the wine and along the foyer of the stairwell, the place is Live! So we were worried that there is no way we are going tk get any help selecting wines to bring home. So as we were searching for different wines a gentleman comes up to greet us and was super nice and knowledgeable. He educated us briefly on differences of regions and flavors of wi es we had tried and wanted to try. He wrapped all our wines safely for our travel back to the states. Again i was impressed with the attention he gave us considering how busy and packed they were. I believe we purchased 7 bottles that evening. read more

This is the worst restaurant ever. We were a big family on holiday, we had order worth of Euro216 but the staff were terrible, there was no AC we were melting and when we moved table because the ac was slightly better, 5 waiters suddenly came to our table saying we are going to impose a double service charge on you worth of Euro5 additional. When we asked to talk to the manager she started screaming on us in Italian and said they stick to this policy. When we asked to speak to her supervisor she and all other waiters told us no other supervisor exist and tried to avoid us when we asked for an email address for us to address our complaint in writing. Stumbled upon here by chance on a weekend trip to Milan. Seems pretty touristy because it's situated right at the duomo but it really has a great selection of wines and the finger food and cheese platter is deelish! I tend to avoid all kinds of places around touristic sites because there's a very good chance it turns out to be a tourist trap, you'll be ripped of and food will taste like plastic and won't be characteristic at all. Well, Signorvino proved me wrong! It is right behing the Duomo, next to Intimissimi, it is owned by the Benetton Group, actually (the owners of Benetton, Calzedonia, Intimissimi but also the horrible Autogrills), so that was another thing that didn't make me think it would be a good option for food/aperitivo - again, I was wrong. However, there are some tables outside, where you can have a nice aperitivo in these hot summer days (an Aperol Spritz with a small dish of olives and few things to nibble is €6), but if you're planning on having lunch, dine or have a drink in a quieter atmosphere, you might want to go upstairs (there's also a lift). The decor is nice, with bottles and bottles of wine everywhere and some windows overlooking the Duomo. Service is quite fast and friendly enough. Food is good (I love their Carbonara!) with specialties from the different Italian regions and lots of wines by the glass or bottle to pair your meal with. You can also buy wine to bring home and I must say prices aren't as high as you might expect in a place like this. Food & drinks prices are average for Milan, but considering you're right behind the Duomo on the main shopping street then they aren't really that high. Be sure to book a table because it gets crowded at lunch, aperitivo & dinner. read more

We had our first dinner in Italy at Signorvino. It is directly across the street from the Milano Duomo. Food was great, wine was wonderful and our waiter was very nice. We had a window table with a view of the Duomo. Not super pricey and had a large assortment of wines. I would recommend that you don't pay your bill until you are ready to leave the restaurant. We paid our bill and were enjoying the last of our wine when another waitress (not our nice waiter) came over and asked to leave so they could seat another guest at the table. We think it's must just be a cultural difference, so to be safe...don't pay until you are completely finished :-) read more

This place is pretty awesome. They have a great selection of wines and we asked the staff to recommend us one. They were super knowledgeable and their recommendation was right on point. We bought the wine and ordered the magnum plate (cold cuts) absolutely out of this world. We liked it so much we came two days in a row. The second day we ordered the summer plate and the cheese selection yummy! We asked the staff for a different wine and they were again right on point. The only tough part, we sat outside. The outside part is surrounded with crystal and smokers can smoke outside. However, since a part of the patio is surrounded with glass the smoke will concentrate at the corners so be mindful of that...you may want to sit inside.
