This place exceeded my expectations! I am so excited that Milwaukee finally has a revolving sushi bar. Usually, I would have to go out of town for that sort of thing. Revolving sushi bars are always a fun experience. I especially love that I get to sample different types of sushi. You can actually see what each type of item looks like and grab what you like to your heart's desire. If you don't like the options they have on the conveyor belt, you can also order items on the iPad. This was super convenient, and it was delivered pretty quickly on a cool little mobile train. The sushi options are all varied, so I feel like there really is something for everyone. They had some unique choices like a sweet and savory caramel roll along with a spicy one with hot Cheetos on top. They also had sushi bowls and sushi sandwiches. For dessert, they had crepe cakes, which I absolutely loved. It wasn't overly sweet, which is good. Each plate color corresponds to a different price point. This does add up quickly, so just keep that in mind. I was a little impulsive and kept grabbing whatever looked good, but this ended up being a bit pricey at the end! Totally worth the experience, though! Our server was very friendly and attentive, which I was pleasantly surprised by. Parking can be a little tricky because it's downtown, but they have metered spots in that area. You may just need to walk a couple blocks. Overall, this was a wonderful restaurant experience. It is a bit kitschy, but that's part of its charm. They have everything set up to serve you with modern technology, yet you still receive "attentive" service from a server. We've been there four times and would rate it as a decent sushi restaurant. The experience reminds us somewhat of sushi spots in Sydney, NSW, Australia, although we found the sushi there to be more flavourful. That said, we'd love to see more sushi featuring fish sourced from our own waters in Lake Michigan. read more

We didn't have a reservation and although we were seated right away the place was getting really busy! The experience was really fun and we loved being able to take sushi dishes right from the conveyor belt. We also ordered a few other items that were delivered via robot! Everything we ate was really good. You get what you pay for! If you are looking for super artisanal, hand rolled sushi this probably isn't your spot. We found there sushi to be high quality and delicious at the price point we were paying. We stayed for about an hour to try various rolls and finish our drinks but this is a spot where you could be in and out in about 30 minutes if you needed to be. This is a new sushi place downtown Milwaukee. I feel like Milwaukee needs more Sushi restaurants and this is in such a good location. I was shocked that they had such a nice bar but honestly it's perfect for stopping there before going out on Water Street in the evening. They had so many different varieties of things to try and I went there as soon as they open for the lunch hour, and they were already getting things going on the conveyor belt. Service was great and there's a lot of self-serve options that you can use an iPad for which I thought was really cool. If you order an appetizer, it comes around on a little train. Conveyor belt sushi in Milwaukee?? Yes please! We hit Sooshibay for lunch on a Saturday before heading to a musical. They had just opened shortly before our arrival. But there were several patrons already in the restaurant. It was kind of fun to watch the conveyor fill as we sat at our table. We ordered the gyoza dumplings as an appetizer and they were brought out to our table on a little robot so fun! Between the three of us we tried several different types of sushi and shared them so we could get a good sampling of lots of different things. We came to Sooshibay within the first or second week of opening and they know what they are doing. Our server was super nice and gave us a great breakdown of how the conveyor worked so we were ready to start digging in. The seating options are great as they have single chairs and booths. It was just myself and my friend so we got the chairs but it gave us a great view of the restaurant where they have lights like look like waves and a screen with an aquarium video on it. The restaurant was super clean and if you wanted to watch the bucks game they did have it on. We started with the crabmeat Rangoons and it was delivered to us from the train that's on the conveyor belt on the top. We tried Volcano Maki which had Spicy salmon. avocado, cucumber, spicy crabmeat. Flamin' Hot Cheetos, & sesame seeds with sriracha this has the best flavor profile. My second favorite was Yam Maki which had Tempura-fried sweet potato & sesame seeds. We had the Garlic Steak Nigiri Medium rare New York steak, it was a little chewy but tasted good. We also had the fiesta roll which had Spicy crabmeat, avocado, crabmeat, eel sauce, fried onion, & sesame seeds, w/ spicy mayo. Overall it was great and I can't wait to come again. Very new and clean restaurant. Theres parking in the empty lot designated for Sooshibay so you don't need to deal with street parking. All the sushi we tried was good quality. The fish portions are okay. The prices are a bit hefty. Majority of prices are green plates (5.50) with either 2 nigiri pieces or half a roll (4 pieces). You can also order on their tablets for ramen, soups, appetizers etc. Be careful of parties of 6+. They automatically add 18% tip first and then they do taxes afterwards. So you'll pay extra as taxes on tips/service fee. 39 plates for $280 Food is overall decent and well made. Prices are just steeper for what it is. read more

Food comes on the belt pretty consistently but be careful because if you miss something it will take a while to see it again (just order it in that case). Tokyo sandwhich was pretty good. Sooshibay is the place to go if you are looking for a fun dining experience! They have cute robots that deliver food, the restaurant has tasteful Japanese decorations, and of course their sushi belt is the highlight of the restaurant itself. They give you an iPad which you can use to order food if you don't get anything from the sushi conveyor belt, making service fast & efficient. I got their Chicken Ramen which tasted decent but felt that the broth could have been more flavorful. The meat also felt a bit dry and stringy. Not a bad bowl of ramen however I expected a bit more as this was a new spot in town. The conveyor belt options had a good assortment of cooked, raw, and vegetarian rolls. There were also several dessert options. Anything ordered off the menu comes to you via a train or robot. Came back for their dinner and was even better the second time! We made a point to try more hot food from ordering thru tablet and the appetizers we tried like shumai and calamari was super good!! It was also very packed on a Saturday night so had to wait a bit. Tried new things like pickled mackerel and it was delicious. My favorite was the Surf n Turf roll, loved the steak and crab meat in it!! I got to try the green tea crepe too that was pretty tasty. Only downside was we never got our drinks and by the time we asked for the check after finishing, thats when she tried to give us them and told us she 'didnt know how' to make them, thats why we never got it right away (sake bombs). Fun place with yummy food! This was my first time to Sooshibay and enjoyed all of it! My husband was looking for a conveyor belt sushi experience like he had while visiting Japan. There are many things to enjoy with this style of dining. 1. The portions on the conveyor belt are perfect for sharing (only if you want to!). You typically get 2-4 pieces of sushi per plate, so its a great way to try many things without having to order a full portion or pay a full price. 2. Fast and efficient! The conveyor belt is being replenished regularly, so you can grab more delicious food anytime you are ready for it. No waiting like in traditional sushi restaurants. If you happen to miss the plate you wanted to try, no worries. It will be back around quickly! 3. Traditional options, such as goyza and ramen are also available on the regular menu. Those items are delivered by a robot which reminded me of Rosie from the Jetson's. Great fun, great food. I'll be back! read more

Sushi's great customer service isn't the best. I've only done pickup as I live in the area. They forgot my extra ginger. I got 3 rolls the serving size of ginger for to go is so small. I was charged yet they didn't throw in even one extra ginger when I had 3 rolls. When speaking to someone be aware them telling you they will fix a problem is slim. I was told to come back came back in 5 minutes for them to not open the door. If you're going to order pickup and it's past 9:45 just be mindful although they are slow they will likely still mess up the order. For me. Sushi without ginger isn't great. Although it's been great in the past i definitely recommend checking your order before you leave. read more

We were so excited for a conveyor belt sushi option to come to Milwaukee. The restaurant has a good atmosphere that fits a date night or a family outing. My 9 year old loves that she can grab things from the belt, but can also have things delivered to her by train. The robots are a fun feature; reminded my daughter of one of het games! Everything was fresh and tasted amazing. The staff was friendly and they were helpful in explaining the ordering process. I love that the prices vary, so it can match almost any budget. Good news first. Because it's novel and sort of fun with the conveyor belt, my 13yo son had sashimi for the first time and he loved it after many years of going to sushi restaurants. Now the rest. The sushi is barely better than grocery store sushi. It's too cold so it's quite flavorless. If you taste anything it is sauces and spreads and toppings. Not the fish. The sushi pieces are inexpensive but they are also very small. Seaweed wrap was completely soggy and rubbery. Not crispy and flavorful as it should be. Typical for Milwaukee too many "clever" and creative rolls and combinations and not enough attention to the fish quality. read more

Went on a Sunday night with my friend, we got seated at the very end of the sushi rotation and immediately after sitting down we realized all the sushi was dry. The sauce and mayo on the presented sushi looked like hard cheese and the nigiri was so dry it was crumbling. It felt very overpriced for what was being served.
