When Dante wrote The Purgatorio he failed to include a section about this Sonora Quest location, but surely he intended to add it to later editions. You will be greeted by a room full of people, a closed reception window (opaque with lowered blast-shield), and a greasy iPad on a wobbling stand. You can enter your name and it will appear on a large, wall-mounted TV. Your name will sit there, unmoving, for hours, just like all the people in the waiting room. You will wait for so long that you can see gravity working on the people, crushing them into puddles of despair--despair so deep that smartphones cannot save them. Sometimes new people will arrive in the the waiting room, add their finger-grease to the iPad, and their names will appear in front of yours. They made appointments, and even the appointments are massively delayed. You will wait longer. Perhaps until tomorrow. A sad old woman paws at the closed door to the lab, saying that she forgot her car keys inside during her appointment. Nobody inside hears her and she knocks and scrabbles for ten minutes before the door opens, coincidentally, to finally admit someone. The old woman and the patient enter, tearfully overjoyed. Their suffering shall finally end. For those in the waiting room, another hour. read more

I always love coming here for routine labs and urine tests as they make scheduling online easy and are usually on time/friendly However this time the " lead gal" ( self described) was a bit testy and prickly trying to say I didn't have an order and she'd talk to the other gals. short cut to she was wrong but never apologized and quickly brushed off my address ( I'm from another state) I give folks grace as maybe she was having a bad day but the results come back fast and I truly like this place read more

Even though this location on Alvernon is closest to me I might have to give up on it. There's always some issue here. Last time they didn't call me back until half an hour after my appointment. It seems you have to arrive a half an hour early if you want to be seen at your appointment time and then that's not guaranteed. Btw, I did arrive before my appointment time. There was one person at the front desk and she appeared to also be a phlebotomist. Running back and forth. Couldn't find my doctor even though she is not new in tucson. Had to pull out my card and show her. My tests have not come back for two weeks now. Tried to call and find out where they were. This office never answers or calls you back. I went to Orange Grove office once and it was much better. And I think why bother with a review because they obviously never read them. read more

Quite possibly THE least friendly and most unwelcoming receptionist in Tucson. If you don't like your job why make us all suffer ? Multiple people (including myself) kept waiting an excessively long time because we all apparently didn't use the kiosk properly, funny that so many people had the same issue yet we have no problems operating our cars and smartphones. This place is completely unsanitary. The waiting area smelled like poop because they make everybody sign into a kiosk whether they're doing a lab or drop off. They provide no complementary mask at the door and require you to wait 30 minutes to drop your poop off. It was so embarrassing and disgusting. Everybody in that waiting room was very ill and they did nothing to ensure any kind of courtesy to folks just trying to drop the poop off. I was very impressed with the amazing service I received from Naudia and Hannah. My Dr. orders were not received. They both put me at ease by jumping onto the situation immediately. They were very pleasant and personable and kept assuring me this would all be handled and resolved quickly. I had another apt. the other side of town and needed to be there. Yes indeed....they resolved the issue and my testing was done in an expedient manner. I was most amazed with the personal attention they each gave to me. Made me feel valued. Absolutely the worst. They insist you make an appointment through there impossible to navigate and use their NOT user-friendly website. You can not make an appointment in person at one of their locations. It is an exercise in frustration to try and make one over the phone. And just to complicate matters and raise obstacles you have to check in at a kiosk. So what are your front desk employees doing? Just letting the phlebotomists know you're in the waiting room? This outfit is unprofessional, totally lacks anything resembling "customer service" and is nothing but frustrating and aggravating to deal with. It is always a drag getting blood drawn, however as I say that, today I had the BEST experience ever! First of all the atmosphere is friendly and the office is neat and clean. The best part was Jamie who did such an amazing job that I couldn't believe how quick the process was and it didn't hurt. This is the place to come if you need blood work done. I'm super happy right now because I'm drinking coffee as I write this! One other benefit is there is a lot of parking and easy access to Alvernon. read more

I took a Covid19 test on July 11, 2020, through Next care, which uses Sonora Quest. It is now July 25 and no results. Which I understand is a well known issue. The reason for the one star rating is the fact I have called Sonora Quest 3 times this week with no return phone call. I am already registered with the Sonora Quest portal. The portal shows no Covid19 test results. I called the Sonora Quest HIMS office 7/20, 7/24 and 7/25, just to confirm that my test was received. No answer and no call back. The recording says they will try and give a call back between 24-48 hours of receipt of message, and that they are using voicemail messages to manage their phone calls. Meanwhile the Sonora Quest website changes daily to reflect how many days results are being returned, which is not acurate according to my experience. I was very sick and quarantined at home despite no results. Thankfully my significant other tested using another lab and received news that he tested positive within 48 hours. This timeline on receiving test results, serves only to report statistics. It has no real life value to help prevent spread of this virus, especially in the case of asymptomatic patients. read more

As soon as we walked in we heard a yelling voice from behind the counter to check in at the kiosks. So we did. This was a walk in. So my name kept getting pushed to the bottom which is understandable since I did not have an appointment. But how long does it take to get called to the front desk? And how long does it take to draw blood even with a single person doing the blood draws??! Then when I went to ask how long it will be she said 30-45 minutes on top of the 45 minutes we were there already. The rude receptionist with freaky eyes needs to learn customer service and normal social graces before interfacing with people. And they need to speed up their service on top of that for blood draws. I went to another location and I did the kiosk check. They had many more ppl waiting but I was called to the front register within 5 minutes of my arrival. Single person at the desk so same staffing. And I was on my way out in less time that I waited at this horrible place. Something is seriously wrong with this location and how it is run!!! AVOID AT ALL COST. Drive a bit farther and u will still be done earlier and treated much nicer!!! read more

Billing issue! Sonoma Quest billed for costs following insurance payments. We paid by check by the due date. The check was mutilated in process, unfortunately resulting in a Return Check Fee of $25. On the list that was provided showing the reason for an additional charge, the checked item indicated that it was NOT one of the reasons they would charge a Return Check Fee. But, they added it anyhow! There was an image of the check also provided that showed how it had been mutilated. The office was called twice to clear the $25 after a new check was mailed in -- and got processed successfully. The first call was confusing, angering, and treated as an NSF check -- which it was not. The second call was more positive and sounded like the $25 would be removed, and that a note would be placed on our record. The $25 billing continues (for several months) at $.68+ each time. Is a collection agency next? Never again, Sonora Quest! Their office management is really poor, as experienced here. read more

I had my PCP in Phoenix fax orders for blood work to this location as I live here in Tucson for the majority of the year. I was able to find a location easily, make an appt online and come in the next morning. The building is nice and Sonora Quest is easy to find. I checked in and was seen in a few minutes. The girls are the front are super friendly and funny. They had my orders ready and got me back quickly. I was in and out in 20 minutes. They'll send my results to my PCP and I can also view them online. 10/10 best way to get lab work done. read more

Front desk can never find your lab orders. You'd think they'd pull them the day prior since patients make appointments but they do not and it's always a 15-20 minute delay while they try and find them and then ask the patient what tests the doctor wants done like we're supposed to know. There's no point in scheduling an appointment because you will never be seen at that time due to them either being unprepared or letting a bunch of walk ins ahead of you. I am hoping other locations are better organized because this one is run by an inept front desk. read more

"Write a review not a rant....write a review, not a rant..." Maybe if I say it enough times, it will actually come to fruition. Nah, probably not. Let the eye rolling commence. We received a call from my three-year-old son's pediatrician late Friday night that we needed to get follow up blood work done immediately because high levels of blah blah blah were found in my son's last blood test. We chose this location because it is open on Saturdays and accepts walk-ins. My son started howling the minute we walked in the door; he's been to enough of these places to know the drill. No, the phlebotomist didn't jab my son nor did blood start spurting out everywhere. Instead, she informed me that we had an unpaid bill in the amount of $2,600 from March 2013 and she therefore couldn't draw the blood. I asked her how it was that he was able to get blood drawn last week, and several times over the last year and half without this issue coming up. The explanation was that they'd been mailing the bill to the wrong address in California, had already turned it over to a collection agency, and "nobody must have looked too closely until now." The bill is probably legit, but what a cluster F. Good karma to me for not getting too bitchy, because she whispered to me to go to LabCorp (the competition), who also accepts walk-in Saturday appointments until noon. That's why I'm giving Sonora Quest two stars - instead of zero - for the gentle advice to a terrified mother. read more

I dread having my blood drawn because I have not had good experiences the last few times. Like when I had blood drawn at the ER last year and told the nurse I felt like fainting to which she coldly replied, "You're sitting down." Thankfully, my experience at Sonora today may have helped me kick my fear. Everyone here was so nice but the phlebotomist who drew my blood was the best! She made small talk with me through the entire procedure, taking my mind off what was going on. She was so quick and distracted me so well that I couldn't believe when she said she was done. I didn't feel a thing! Minus one star for the wait. I would definitely make an appointment next time. I noticed people who had an appointment only waited about 5 minutes, but as a walk-in, I waited almost 45, even though I got there first thing in the morning. While, it's never fun to get poked and prodded by needles, if you do have to have some tests done, I definitely recommend this particular location. read more

Well managed! I made the appointment online for this Alvernon and Sixth Street location and printed off the details. Arriving ten minutes early, the friendly receptionists directed my to sign in at the kiosk. I did not wait as Anna was quick to usher me back, professionally and cheerfully caring for me as my phlebotomist. This welcoming, clean office had ample parking on a Saturday morning for my 10:00 appointment. I usually visit the Wilmot location during the week, but this was such a positive experience that I will drive to this location for future draws when I am able. The results were posted online quickly, by Monday noon; my doctor received the same response. I will return. read more

Takes forever to even get called to the front desk for check in. Then forever again to go back even though there's not a lot of people in the lobby. Then when they draw your blood it hurts more than it should and left a mark for days. When I've got it done at other places it hurts a little as to be expected but not as much as it did here. Any time I can get lab work done with only one stick is a great day! It typically takes at least three tries to get a vein. This is the first time at this location. The phlebotomist listened to my experience and rather than just doing what she normally would do, she followed my suggestion. For me, that's using a pediatric size needle. I've had many who will not listen and will try "their way" first. Which, of course results in a 4 stick minimum event. The front office folks were also competent and friendly. I had an appointment and I was taken back right on time. I used the online scheduling process, which worked great. The location is clean and well kept. I even had a worker who asked where I was headed when u arrived and escorted me right to the suite where the lab is located. read more

I came here on Friday to have blood drawn. I was asked for paperwork and insurance card. As I have Tricare, I handed over my military ID card which he took and I told him that my order should have been faxed over so he went to look. When he told me he didn't have an order for me, I went to call my Dr's office. As they were closed, I went back to the counter and told the guy I would have to reschedule. The next time I opened my wallet I realized my military ID had not been handed back to me. As it was the weekend, I got my Dr's office to fax over another order today and I made another appointment for this afternoon. When I arrived, I was once again asked for my insurance card and paperwork, this time by a female however the guy that took my card on Friday walked into the reception area. I pointed to the guy and explained to the lady that he had taken my military ID card on Friday and I hadn't got it back. She immediately pulled out a little box and looked in it but when she didn't find my card, both she and the guy got very defensive and started saying that they wouldn't keep my card, they would have no reason to take my card and then suggested I retrace my steps! Even after they made me feel like I was being unreasonable, (which I was not), I was still going to get my blood drawn. Of course the guy that called me back was the same guy who had taken my card on Friday! Still I went with him to a back room. The last straw was when we were walking into the room and he said to me " I didn't take your card, I don't know why you would say that". The fact was he asked for and took my card because it was in lieu of an insurance card. I certainly was not accusing him of keeping it on purpose but I am positive he did not hand it back to me. Awful experience here! The girl working the front desk was incredibly rude. My husband told her he did NOT want his military ID copied as it's not allowed and she gave him attitude. Her exact response, because I was there sitting in the waiting area but still heard her, "Yeah, I know, but they all do it anyways." Uh, if you KNOW it's not allowed, then why do you still ask them to do it? Then, she copped an even bigger attitude when my husband asked her NOT to announce his social security number. Excuse me, but the kind of people sitting around here don't exactly seem like the type to respect your privacy and quite honestly, some of the people were sketchy. I'd be pissed too if my SSN was announced to the room. Then, they had a massive breakdown of communication and did not verify his name, date of birth, sample type, date of sampled, etc. We are pretty sure they effed up the results of the test he was having done and we will NEVER come ba to this little clinic for anything if we can help it. read more

The lab experience itself was fine but they have been hounding me for a bill that should have been billed to insurance, and now threatening with collections. I have called, written, now about to call again. No way to communicate with these people. UPDATE: I got a response from the billing office, who went pretty far out of the way to re-submit my claim. The original problem was with AZ Blue Cross Blue Shield but left me with no recourse. I really appreciate the efforts of the billing department here, and so I am changing the review. The Alvernon and 5th location is the best of the Sonora Quest labs that I have visited. I always make an appointment and they do well to keep to appointment times. On my latest visit, Clarissa and Jamie went over the top to help me with my paperwork issues and helped me arrange to come back. They also both do an excellent job of drawing blood from my small veins on the first try. I see many people who walk in without an appointment and complain when they don't understand why they drop down on the waiting list due to the appointments. It's so easy to make an appointment online so I highly encourage it! read more

What can you say of a place that draws blood or your semen? Okay, granted, you bring the semen in a cup inside a bag. But aside, it's like most places... Slower, faster than others? No. You stand in line usually, you wait a while, you get called back and give your name and some info about your health insurance and sign something- what did you just sign? It could be anything. You assume you signed something useful, that will just make this hurry up and go. Nobody behind the desk said anything like "no" and with luck, they didn't charge you a second time for anything. In that case, you are golden. You sit there and thumb through an old magazine or something about Caitlyn Jenner in People. You check your phone, often, you complain about waiting, or how weird the other people are, or that someone is coughing. Or that everyone else has gone ahead of you. And finally you go in. And in my case, I was treated well, taken care of. Nothing special, nothing crazy wild. Just, it is what it is. I think once my labs never even made it to my doctor. Yes, I know this for a fact, because there I am again, doing it all over, having blood siphoned out of me like a mosquito. But hey, it's all going to be okay in the end. Because what other choice do we have when it comes to this stuff aside from patience and enormous faith and trust in the system? read more
