Tried to order a take out order of french fries and asked the woman that answered the phone what size order of french fries they sold and she said they only had one size of fries for sale and I asked how many people the size of fries would feed, she said she didn't know and I asked how many fries were in an order to determine if they were enough for 2 people she had a nasty attitude and said they didn't count the fries! What a witch! Instead of being helpful, she had an attitude and because of that, I won't spend my money at Sonny's. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience? read more

It's hard to go wrong with Sonnys anywhere. They are a local chain that has expanded throughout Florida and up to Atlanta. The food is always consistent and fast. The service is good too. I had the ribs and sliced pork combo that comes with 2 sides. Pulled pork is also an option but I prefer sliced. It was aii served fresh in about 5 minutes after I ordered. The server checked in at my table regularly and was very friendly. This one is very good. read more

Not good with a follow up phone call I made. When I returned home with my drive thru order and checked my receipt I discovered they had added a "tip" on my charge. I did not add a tip on my order because I was not happy with the employee at the window. I normally do tip but this time I purposely did not authorize a tip. The woman I spoke with adamantly argued with me that I had left the tip and refused to take it off my bill. I live very close to this Sonny 's and have been a loyal customer many years. My family and I (5) were trying to grab dinner at Sonny's but we were highly disappointed in the lack of service on tonight. It started with us being skipped over when we first got there. Then we were finally seated and then TOTALLY FORGOTTEN ABOUT! No one, came to take our drink order. No one even greeted us. After sitting there for about 25 minutes, we finally just got up and walked out. Even if they were understaffed, they could have at least greeted us. We will not step foot in that place again!!! We get Sonny's take out every year on my birthday. I've always loved Sonny's food, and my husband is ill, so we always get take out. We had some appetizers, including onion rings. My husband had the 3 sliders with a baked sweet potato side. I had a combo of some sort, brisket, pulled pork, chicken, French fries, and pork and beans. The trip home took less than 10 minutes after picking up my food. For a Friday at 4:30, traffic was good. I got home, immediately served the food. The food was all cold! Seriously cold! I don't feel that I should have to microwave our meals 10 minutes after picking them up! And the baked sweet potato they sold my husband was the most pathetic thing ever. I took a picture with a teaspoon for scale. Sonny's is not the only barbecue in town. For what we paid, I at least expected hot food and a normal sized potato. I got the sampler: The ribs were tasty but tough. The pulled pork was OK but definitely not lean enough for my liking! The brisket was extremely fatty and was wasted. Chicken (white meat) was over-done and tough. Baked beans & BBQ Dirty rice was good. My daughter got the Brisket Grilled Cheese. Her first bite had her spitting out a mouthful of fat. She opened it up and started trying to rake out all the fat. She ended up wasting the whole thing. I could see that it was ridiculously fat. My wife got the pulled pork: She complained that it was way too fatty. Service was good & friendly. The store was clean and smelled good and looked nice. We love Sonny's BBQ, however this location has really slipped in terms of quality and value. We have stopped at this location on trips to and from St Augustine, FL through the years. We have dog so we need to go to the drive-thru. On the last several visits, including one on 12/30/23, the food has not been good. Very dry turkey and tasteless sliced pork. On this last visit the sliced pork had a grey color and looked like it had been sitting in water. In addition the sandwiches were very small. We get two big deal specials and this last trip we paid almost $30 for two fast food lunches, served in plastic containers. Not a very good value. read more

Sonny's BBQ was right next to my hotel. Perfect to stop in for dinner. Immediately I was greeted by friendly staff. Ambiance was what you would expect of a BBQ place. Good spot to watch sports events. I was sat at a table that was in the direct line of the sun shining through the window. My server, Dawn, was so considerate and put up a bunch of menus on the window to block the sun. That act of kindness was the reason I gave three stars as opposed to two stars. Service was great. It was slow while I was there so I don't know how it would be on a busy night. Now, let's get to the food, I mean after all that IS what really matters. I ordered the "three meat" plate that comes with two sides for $17.99. Then they add .25 for "sliced brisket." Made no sense to me but whatever. I chose mac&cheese and baked beans as my sides. For meat I chose brisket, smoked chicken and sliced pork. Food came out. Presentation lacked. The dishes, well plastic ware to be more accurate, looked old and used. Time to update. Meat comes out with no BBQ sauce as it is at the table. The brisket was good, a little thin, but good. However, the chicken and pork was not good. The chicken was so dry, I could not eat it, no matter how much BBQ sauce I poured on it. The pork just did not seem well cooked and I also did not eat it. The Sweet Tea was good and I ordered the Banana Pudding. It was ok. Overall, you're not missing much by skipping this place. let me start by saying we do love this place, every time we come back for Jax we always stop and get the St Louis Rib dinners to go..(we live 48 miles N of them). We picked up two orders on Dec 26 heading home...when we got home and sat down to eat this is what was in one of the orders..notice that one of the ribs it nothing but a bbq bone with no meat one it...we live to far to go back so we have to live with...in the future I will always check my order before leaving....so disappointed...you know the person who filled the box knew what they were doing...So sad!! read more

I truly hate to leave a negative review, but I feel as if I have no choice. We were on our way to Florida from NC and stopped here for dinner. I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich knowing it would have some fat in it because that's when it is good! However it was all fat and I realized it after spitting out 2 bites. I took everything out of my sandwich to see it was all fat. I was grossed out and told the waitress and she said I'd have to pay for different meet and they could not compensate me for my meal. I'm sorry but I'm truly appalled. It was clear I had not had half of my sandwich and there was no edible meet on it. Waitress was nice enough other than that but I think it was only to get a tip. During college I worked in the food industry and I know for a fact that was fixable and they chose not to, probably because we were not red neck locals. Oh and also, my fiancé ordered the same thing I did and his was meat and fat the way it's supposed to be!! Everyone else's food was edible, not good but edible. I'm not mad at ya Sonny's! We love some BBQ and we had a ton of great ones before this. Sonny's looks like an older family owned spot. For lunch you can get a pulled sandwich, side, cornbread and drink for about $10. Pretty good deal. 4 sauces on the table and full salad bar. We were just driving though so we were in and out quick. We arrived at opening, shortly after 11. By 11:30 it was pretty filled little spot. I thought the pork portion on my sandwich was a little small, but I left full, so, that's okay. Mac n cheese was good. Beans were a little on the sweet side for me. The cornbread gets all the praise. Delicious. Son had kids chicken fingers and fries. Husband had brisket. I was 20 mins away from the restaurant by the time I got the call so this added 40 mins to my drive with only a measly "sorry". Worst bbq in town. For starters, I didn't expect much from a "chain restaurant" but my food experience was disappointing. As a pit master, I know what's "real bbq" and what's not. Got a sampler platter with ribs, brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was rubbery and grey, no smoke ring to be seen. Ribs were just ok, tough with no smoke flavor. And the pork was unseasoned and dry. Kinda sad to see all the wood and "slowed smoked" decor in the building when the food doesn't taste like it. Curious on why people eat here a lot. We are serious Sonny's fans and this one did not disappoint. Once upon a time we were able to feed our Sonny's addiction as often as we wanted but we live up north now and DC doesn't know about really good BBQ yet. On a recent visit to Savannah we drove an hour south just so we could have Sonny's. I was a little worried because of the reviews but had to try. WINNER WINNER! Amazing. The sliced pork was tender and moist and so was the chicken. Ribs fell off the bone. French fries were piping hot and cooked perfectly. The best part?? The service. Our server was fabulous. Friendly and quick and attentive. Obviously there are other addicts in the area since I heard the servers greeting several of the customers by name. After 20+ minutes the manager arrived took my order and served me a beverage! So how long should sliced brisket, sliced Turkey and two sides take 10-15 minutes? I had to come home for my father's funeral and the thought of cooking anything at a time like this was unbearable. I happened to drive by and decided to stop in. At first I was going to place a small order but I looked at the menu and everything looked delicious. I ordered a sampler meal which was reasonably priced thinking it would hold over me, my sister, and mother at least for dinner. What I got was a mountain of food a full chicken cut into qtrs a rack of ribs and a couple of ponds of brisket, accompanied with sides and drinks. We have been eating on this for the last two days in between planning and making arrangements.
