From cool to kitsch, from funny to puzzling, Ida Red's has it all. I will confess to Ida's not being the kind of place I would envision myself shopping at, but that's because I'm old, stodgy and a general curmudgeon. So I was pleasantly surprised and amused with Ida's. Overall, a really neat place with TONS of local craft merchandise. Now that I have a better idea of their offerings, I can plan a trip back, knowing what I'm looking for.

I believe it was the owner who helped us at the register and he was really nice. Someone asked him if the Christmas event brought extra business to the shop and he lit up and said something like "it has been outstanding," looking so genuinely happy for every customer waking in the door, which I thought was really cool to see. As you walk in to your left is a cotton candy shelf, straight ahead is the cashier, macaroons, cupcakes, specialty chocolatea, ice cream and, to the right is all kind of bulk candy, modern and old fashioned candies. After walking around the shop that was nicely decorated, smelled good, and had a cute seating area in a bay window that looked out to the restaurants and other shops in the downtown Tulsa. I chose the cookies n'cream cupcake. So cute. The cupcake was moist and soft and had good flavor throughout the cupcake. The topping wasn't overbearing with being too much or too sweet. I've taken several photos of the shop and what it offers. After eating my cupcake, I went to look for goodies for my little one. When I went to pay, I was surprised to see how much I paid for two small items. To me, it was costly. Especially for one of them. I t was alright as they were gifts. Surprisingly, I didn't see any of the basic gelato flavors. Instead, they had more specialized flavors! I got to try the strawberry cheesecake Gelato, and I gotta say, this is it. Usually, cheesecake flavors are a hit or miss with the flavors, but this place does it well. The gelato had CHUNKS of cheesecake inside. These were actual pieces of cheesecake that had been frozen inside the gelato, and it kept its own consistency. The gelato itself was already very dense, but combining the two really made the gelato stand out!
