From entire orders being completely wrong to old dry over cooked food and even having to repeat your order several times at the speaker. I will never be back. I'd rather have McDonald's. More on the specific items I ordered today: pickle fries - these are new to promote the big dill burger. They are supposed to be long dill pickles sliced and fried. Instead I got the little quarter circle pickles that go on the burgers fried & burnt. Disgusting. Then I ordered a simple corn dog, couldn't even eat it because it was cooked so long the hot dog was poking through the breading at the top. I don't live in this city but every time I am in Smithfield I stop by sonic to grab a drink and usually a quick snack. The last couple times I've been I've had really bad experiences. Last time I went the machine froze on me mid payment and wouldn't let me finish paying so I had to call someone out to help and it took them 20 min to get payment from me. Then I went today and had a large order so out of respect of the people in drive thru- I chose to go to a stall. When the carhop got to my car she said "next time you order this go to the drive thru so I don't have to carry this. It's heavy." Uhhhhh....that's your job? Make two trips? Ask for help? Don't shame me. Not to mention I had my screaming baby in the backseat and I had to get out to give her a bottle while I waited for my order..,can't really do that in the drive thru. Then, once I finally got my order, I drove off and was almost home before I open the bag and open my sandwich and it was completely wrong. A whole different sandwich than what I ordered. Literally no meat on it. They just piled a bunch of mayonnaise and bacon on it and called it a sandwich. Good thing I paid six dollars for some soggy toast and bacon. This is my 3rd visit to this location. While my husband will give them 20 golden stars for being a dine-in Sonic ... I must give them one sad pathetic star for failing to make my burger correctly all 3 visits.it is beyond my comprehension why they cannot manage to make a cheeseburger with only one topping. Its slow as molasses in there and freezing summer and winter. The meat temperature was like warm at best on all 3 visits as well. This is a place I come to frequently for slushees. I'll start off with the bad and end with the good. Before leaving for college, I was looking a place to work to earn some extra money. When scheduling an interview with the manager, I asked her where would she feel comfortable carrying out the interview (COVID-19 had just come about during this time, and I wasn't sure if she'd feel comfortable interviewing indoors or outdoors for her own safety). The manager exploded on me over the phone when I asked her this, degrading me and asking me if I knew anything about fast food and asking me why would I ask her that when "obviously I would be around people at the job anyways". I have years of experience in fast food, and found this degrading when I was only looking out for her and trying to be polite. Second off, my boyfriend and I came here one day and she was smoking something in the back with a bunch of other employees. I have heard numerous stories of employees here being degraded by her. Glad I dodged the bullet on that "wonderful" exemplary manger representing Sonic. Absolutely unprofessional. Second off, though, the young teens who work here are always super nice. They deserve better than the treatment they receive from the sorry excuse of a manager they work for. They're always super nice to me, and if the order is wrong they always get it fixed as soon as possible. The only problem here is the management. read more

I'm reviewing the staff and customers of this location. Several months ago, we stopped here for Sonic food. About an hour after leaving, I realized I'd left my purse there! I called right away and the guy that answered went to the table we'd used and retrieved my purse from one of the chairs. OMG that was the first amazing thing. The second was that when I returned to get it, everything was intact including my credit cards and cash! Pulled up to outside drive through ordering kiosk as person in front of me pulled up. After waiting almost 5 minutes, a car pulls up to the inside ordering kiosk and her order is taken right away. I blow horn, a second car pulls up to the inside and they take his order and a third. I yell to speaker and finally someone says can I help you. I tell them I was waiting for 5 minutes and they took orders for 3 people that came after me but no response. I ask if they are there, still no response. I finally back up to the side door and ask a waitress for a manager. No one comes out so after a minute or 2 I go in and a young girl who doesn't look old enough to work there tells me the manager sent her because they are soooo busy and I should be calm because I am an adult. I tell her again I want to speak to the manager and she tries to tells me he sent her. I then leave letting her know I am going to leave poor reviews on line and she says go ahead. Manager appears clueless. This is how sonic treats customers. They rarely get their orders right and have no use for the customers that pay their salaries. We were one of two cars in stalls and no one in drive-thru. Carhop forgot condiments and only brought out one straw for two drinks. She was going back in to make correction and bring us our ordered items. ( that were on receipt) when we opened and looked at our order we found on of the drinks was also incorrect. Food getting cold we started to eat. Never saw carhop again. Really tired of paying for items you never get. The only winner here is sonic. Where did customer service go? Asked for a large chili cheese wrap at $2.99 instead they brought out 2 junior size at 99 cents - now that math does not add up - should have gotten three to make up the cost difference. I worked here for 6 months they extorted me I will be reporting, they worked me last legal times, they had cockroaches they are a terrible business they think it's ok to treat employees like crap on my last day of work I killed a cockroach probably an inch long and very wide. If I could give the Smithfield store 0 stars I would. The young guy behind the counter was very unprofessional and needs to be retrained on customer service. I ordered my children some after school snacks and he proceeds to hand me the bag upside down causing the tots to fall out and all over the place and then hands me a cup of water with the lid half off causing it to spill all over my arm. No biggie it's just water but then he looks at me like it was my fault and then says "what the F"$&!" Seriously if y'all can't hire better employees than this you should consider closing up shop.
