These folks were able to accommodate a whole bunch of us on a Sunday afternoon in late May. They set up a room for us and we had terrific food, drinks and Service. Having never been to this Clayton restaurant before, we were all impressed and appreciative that they were able to make room for us at fairly the last minute. The menu has a nice variety. Definitely recommend sharing the Collard Jalapeno Dip and the Buffalo Cauliflower. Burgers were liked by all who had them. I was very happy with my Crab Cake Po-Boy (minus the bun) with a side salad. That's how long we waited. Friend's drink got messed up--sent it back untouched. They must've chugged it in the back and blacked out from the power trip, because they still tried to charge us for it. And speaking of charges--who's in charge here? Prices are higher than some of the staff probably are during shifts. You know that romantic comedy moment when the girl takes off her glasses and suddenly she's gorgeous? Well I could take my glasses off and still see how empty, overhyped, and checked-out this place has become. They lost the romance, and kept the comedy, because this place is a joke. Since moving here almost a year ago, I've been looking for a good bar with good food and drink. I'm still looking. Vinson's looked great when I walked in, decent bar, two TVs, crowded space. I sat at the bar and ordered a beer, six wings, and a salad. Wings were good, didn't know they came naked without sauce. Garlic Parm was on side. And I didn't see the blue cheese I'd asked for, or carrots or celery. The typical sides with wings, right? Disappointed. Salad was just okay. Some of the avocado was brown. I finished the wings and pushed them aside. The bar tender, who was nice, walked by the plate of eaten wings 4-5 times, never taking them. I later asked about gluten free options, which they don't have except gluten free buns, everything is cooked in the same pan. Why the buns? Finally, as I finish my salad and take the last sip of beer, I'm asked if I'd like dessert. Dessert on a Friday afternoon seemed like an odd ask. No inquiry about a second beer, just dessert. I decline dessert and before I can finish my beer, a check is dropped. Being new here, Vinson's feels like it's been here for a bit. People are familiar with it, but it could be a lot better. Better service, better food options, better beer and liquor options, etc etc. Again, disappointed. read more

Mahi tacos, iffy, too dry, spongy as if fish was frozen, not fresh. Avoid. I should have sent back. Housemade slaw, ok. Remoulade was tasty. Bourbon burger was thick, juicy, nice tomato slice, lettuce, cheddar, applewood bacon, bourbon mayo. Cooked to order, medium was more medium well, but was still ok. Onion rings overcooked, burned, server brought fresh after asking us if ok, SMH. If you hesitate to serve, or ask customer about their quality, go with YOUR gut feeling and don't serve them. If you're looking for a good place to dine outside and enjoy a great burger, this is a very good option. The dining room here is not my first choice, I would prefer to dine on the outside patio. Although they do have 2 patios, one enclosed for winter weather months, the open patio is much more relaxing. I found the enclosed patio to be quite loud. The pretzel rolls are a good starter, but very filling and definitely something that can feed the entire table. I really enjoyed the bourbon burger, it was cooked a bit on the rare side, just as I like and the applewood bacon is definitely a nice touch. Great burgers, great drinks and very friendly staff! Good bar to grab good food and drinks right in Downtown Clayton! I've eaten here quite a few times since I moved to Clayton in June 2020 and I've always been pleased every time. This is right near downtown Clayton easily accessed from Highway 70 or Flowers Plantation. There's a private parking lot as well as street parking. There's great drink and beer options. I'm not a beer drinker, but my neighbor is and the flight is a great option for tasting. They have a large variety of beers by the bottle and on tap. There's also some great liquor/wine options as well. Now to the important stuff...the FOOD. Really good!! I also love the options. Interesting dishes that you don't find on menus often. The Collard Jalapeño Dip sounds like it would be weird, but it is SOOOO GOOD. You can't really go wrong with anything on this menu honestly. I love the Cobb Salad as well as the chicken sandwich. The food is made well and fresh. If you're in the area, you should definitely try it out! read more

The business posted a 100.0 Health Inspection form. Took my mom for dinner at 6:30 on a Friday night, staff was handling the crowd pretty efficiently. We had a 5 minute wait then were seated on the outdoor patio. Our server was sweet and attentive. We had their pretzel appetizer which is enough for 6 ppl. The blackened burger was excellent. Came to Vinson on a cool Friday night as a party of 4 with a service dog. The place was jumping and we a had a small wait of 15-25 minutes. They text you with your wait status and number of parties before you. Nice feature! Our server was very courteous and greeted us with a smile. I hadn't been here in a while because they were only a 3-star place in prior two visits. We ordered Margaritas that were made very well; a great start! We ordered a variety of entrees. I ordered Fish N Chips and my wife got the Cobb Salad. The fish was very lightly battered, so the Cod was the start and did not disappoint. Very flaky with fresh flavor. My wife's salad looked great and she was quite satisfied as well. The others were both satisfied with their meals as well. The service here has always been great, but the issues were in the kitchen in the past. They seem to have worked out the kitchen kinks and roll out some pretty decent food. Great job Vinson's. My husband and I go there every Saturday night. This place has the best customer service. They make a point to get to know you and treat you like old friends. The managers there are great! The dark haired, Carolina I believe and the lighter haired will come and chat with you like you are sitting on old country porch. That is the atmosphere we love. The food is great, and they make sure you're meal is to your satisfaction. I highly recommend this place. This will be our every Saturday night tradition. Everyone in there needs a raise! read more

We visited on a weekday afternoon. It was nice outside so we requested to be seated on the patio. The chair was really uncomfortable lol. I impulsively ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer and I'm so glad I did. They were DELICIOUS. Lightly breaded with some seasonings that included garlic. Seriously had to make myself not devour the entire basket because I had a burger coming. They were served with ranch or blue cheese dressing. I ordered the classic burger which was cooked perfectly to medium well. It was good-- just a classic burger, as advertised. My wife ordered the jalapeño cheddar burger. She also ordered medium well but hers was cooked to well. She still enjoyed the burger. I tried a bite and loved the jalapeño kick. The beer cheese was just ok but I love beer cheese and my standards are pretty high. The fries were delicious. The onion rings were just ok in my opinion. They were on the sweet side, which isn't to my taste. The rings were big and not as cooked inside as I would have preferred. The wife liked them so I'm clearly an outlier as they're known for their onion rings. Service was slightly slow but we were the only people on the patio so we understood. My husband and I had dinner at Vinson's after we walked through the Clayton Harvest Festival. It's a cute little restaurant on the edge of downtown. The staff were great - I didn't get the name of our server, but she was really friendly and attentive. The food was good. I got a black and bleu burger with a side of homemade chips with ranch dressing. My husband got the bourbon burger, onion rings, and a pumpkin ale. I ordered a mixed cocktail that was made wrong with the wrong ingredients and brought it to our servers attention after one small sip. She took the drink away and apparently dumped it before contacting her manager. I was still charged $12 for the drink, and told there was nothing they could do. A manager that really cared about customers would not make excuses, and try and do something to make it right. All they did was lose a loyal customer. Won't go back, which is a shame because the food is pretty good and we used to enjoy the atmosphere. But this left me feeling not so great about this place. read more

So I'm a burger guy so my wife and I decided to try Vinson pub out. I'd heard they had good burgers and wanted to see for myself. So first thing the burger and fries looked delicious when it was served as you can see from the pictures. So I order a classic burger with cheddar cheese plain I like to taste it without other flavors interfering. I was not impressed it was alright but for a hand padded burger it tasted like a frozen one. I'm not sure if it wasn't seasoned enough or if the cheddar cheese didn't vide with my taste buds but it was just so plain tasting. So I asked for bbq sauce to see if that would help. It did not. The fries were not very tasty either almost as if the oil needed to be changed. Plus they were just like the ones you buy at every grocery store. Now if they would change that out with something more fresh and seasoned I believe people would be more inclined to rave about them. Just like how everyone likes the onion rings. Those were good but Clayton steakhouses are a bit better. Our server was a young guy and did a great job not to in our faces but just tentative enough. Sorry not sure his name been a few days. The ambiance was very nice matched the vibe of the place just right without being too much. Clayton Steakhouse could take notes from this place. It was a bit loud but it was a sports bar type place so it was what it is. The reason for a four instead of a three was because the general manager came by our table. We had a get talk with her and you could tell she was proud of the place and she was very personable. I'll be coming back soon to give the place another shot. I'll get American cheese this time! Ps. A great hangout place, especially either outside on the patio, or the outside room that is separate from the main dining room. Although the parking can be a challenge, we didn't mind the walk from a few doors down. We were seated right away for a Thursday night, and we ate on the patio. Although it took two asks for both the lemons for the iced tea and the small plate for the wings, the entire meal was delicious. My husband got the Shrimp and Grits entrée, and ate it all up. I had the Fish and Fries platter, and it was so good, I didn't leave a morsel behind. The fish batter was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. No fishiness at all. Just plain good. I believe they have a menu on line that you can look through. They have a variety of different offerings, and you can most likely afford these food items. Try the bone-in wings. I've been to Vinsons 3 times. The first time I went the food was great no complaints there and they had great drink specials. We had summer shandies for $3 each. But when it came time for the check it was incorrect on the bill. Apparently some of the staff was snickering about it. But if you are going to advertise something you should honor it and not make comments about it where you're customers can clearly see you. The next time we went to to Vinsons we just had drinks. No complaints this visit. Our waitress was nice and very attentive. I did get their German pie dessert. Although homemade the small slice was absolutely not worth $6. Will not order dessert from here again. The third time we decided to order Togo with the covid -19 going on right now. The food was good, I would recommend not getting fries as your side because they are soggy when you get home. Our wings were good. If you like hot the hot sausage is more like mild. And they're XXX hot is more like hot. I was craving a salad and with all the moms recommending salads from here i decided to give it a try. I got the salmon salad. I had high expectations for this salad. I was a bit disappointed when I got home and checked the boxes and there was no dressing! I don't know about you but I can't eat salad without dressing. And I was so looking forward to their cilantro lime. Also the red onion was cut too thick for my taste. Salmon was cooked well. If you are going to do curbside pick up... i would just recommend you go in to pick up. Easier that way. read more

Went back to see some buddies, a little apprehensive, but they picked the place... I am happy to say that although the service was busy, the server was very attentive, and checked back on us a few times. I had the philly with mushrooms and jalapeños. It was delicious, and the fries were crispy and hot. Everyone else at the table seemed to enjoy their food, and we all had a good time.
