Stopped by for lunch with the family. I wanted to give this one a 5 stars but unfortunately my chili tasted really odd. My family and I ordered tap drinks, delicious! My dad got the french dip sandwich with tater tots and loved it. My husband got the bbq lunch sandwich and loved it. I got the chili nachos and mine did not taste great. Crap service. Used to love this place. Probably will just go to the bar from now on. Sat in there for 15 minutes basically being ignored while staff trained an oafish intern who constantly bumped his butt into peoples' tables. Never had a chance for food or drink. Watching these folks get lost and stumble on around made me want to bring lawn chairs, my own drinks and laugh at them. Pathetic. The bartenders are generally good. It had been a while since I've paid a visit to the CDH. My wife actually suggested it for the nice open dining room and the great atmosphere. We brought along my 85 year old mother in law this time. I have many favorites on the menu here and she asked if we've ever had the fish and chips. I said "heck yeah" as it is one of my favorites. The fish is as big and long as the plate. She and I both ordered the fish and chips while my wife ordered the grilled shrimp and some steamed broccoli. The shrimp were grilled to perfection and the fish was hot, flaky, and succulent. The tartar sauce isn't overpowering and the cole slaw is balanced well also. I hate to see people unhappy when they come here as I have only had great experiences with the food and service. I don't understand how this place has such a low rating on yelp. We've been coming here for years, and the service is always on point, the food is always delicious! Comfort food at its finest! The steak pita is delicious and has always been my go to, but my most recent visit I had a hankering for some meatloaf. I'm picky about my meatloaf and had asked if they had good meatloaf. The waitress said they did. I told her for the first time ever I was ordering something different off the menu so it better be lol! Don't you know this is the best dang meatloaf I've ever had in my life?! I'll never have to make it again. And the slab they brought out was gigantic. I could barely eat half of it. When I got home, I threw it on the scale and it was still a full half pound! Took it home and my daughter and I shared the rest for lunch. Mashed taters were great. No instant potatoes here! I love this place. It might not be your typical five star dining experience with fancy this and that, which is typically what I think when I think of 5 Stars, but for comfort food? Update to my last review. Came in Monday afternoon with my wife and had a very pleasant lunch. It was apparent staff was lacking because the manager was serving the entire dining room but despite the apparent frenzy we could tell that he was very courteous and polite to all the tables. The fish and chips were a huge portion as always and my wife's meatloaf tasted better than she makes (her words, not mine). This is Claytons largest sports bar. One can get a lot done here, whether it be sitting at the LARGE bar, playing pool and darts, or just having dinner. It's all here all here at the Cleveland Draft House. I would say the entrees here are impressively tasty yet filling and clearly house made. They do offer some great comfort food options, with the meatloaf being one of my favorites so far. Well-seasoned, moist and partnered with mashed potatoes and FRESH green beans. The dining room seems a bit understaffed at times, resulting in a bit of a wait, so bring your patience. It's a casual environment, almost feels like a casino, not to loud and everyone is just enjoying themselves without any signs of drama. Cheers! read more

Good place to grab some good bar food. Conveniently located on Highway 70 in Clayton. I've been a few times since moving to Clayton and it's always a good experience. When you arrive you can choose to sit in the dining area or the bar area. The bar area has plenty of games and pool tables. There's also a large patio area adjacent to the bar area. This place is large and spacious! I haven't had any of the cocktails, but the beer selection is great for beer drinkers and there is a full bar. All of the food I've ever had here is great! Some of my favorites are the pretzel and the buffalo chicken dip! My mom ordered the chicken sandwich last time I went and it was HUGE. Servers and staff are friendly. We went this past Saturday evening around 5:45 PM. We were seated after table found, about a minute. It took at few minutes for the waitress to come to our table and get our drink orders. About 5 minutes. She took our order of Fish and Chips and Bang Bang Shrimp. The wait for the food was a little long about 20 minutes. There were several large parties that were there so I guess that was the wait for the food. So why the four stars and not one? The food was fresh. It had not set in a window waiting for someone to come and get it. It was served as soon as it was ready. It was delicious! This is probably my 6th or 7th time here and either me or my fiancé get the Fish and Chips and it is always great! Oh, we also ordered appetizer of fried onion rings. Amazing! That took a long time to get but it was great when I finally got it. Then I ran out of iced tea. I couldn't find our server. I was out of tea for 15 minutes before I got another server to come. She disappeared for 10 min then I got my refill. By that time any liquid would have been welcomed. The decor is always a bit lacking in the dining area, but the food is fairly good. Extensive menu. I got the Reuben, which was a good portion. The best potato soup that I've ever had. I'd never had chopped ham in a potato soup before, and it was phenomenal. I'll definitely add ham to my homemade potato soup instead of bacon from now on. Not only was the soup excellent, it was an entire bowl, quite a good portion. The real reason we were there was for drinks. I had a few vodka and cranberries and they weren't stingy on the vodka either. My husband was happy with the craft beer selection. Over all the food, drink and service. were five stars. We sat out on the covered patio area that also dubs as a smoking area for patrons and employees. If that cigarette smoke bothers you, don't sit in the patio area. Zero social distancing and hardly anyone was wearing masks. Even some of the employees weren't wearing masks. If that sort of thing bothers you in the midst of a pandemic, don't come to North Carolina. That seems to be the norm all over NC, so I can't fault one restaurant too much for not following the recommended guideline. read more

When I walked in this place I was not expecting to see the pool tables but liked what I saw. The cool thing that I didn't realize is that the bar area (with all the pool tables) is on the left side but they have the restaurant on the right side. Both sides serve the same food but the right side is more family sit down style. They do have a covered patio and several other tables outside that are not covered too. They have several selections of beer on tap. I cannot really comment on the food other than the chili that I had and it was just okay not bad but nothing memorial. read more

Can I just say that this business is doing a great job with Covid-19 and the window pick up. They staff was friendly/fast service. My food was ready when I arrived. I was craving a burger. I have been here before but I have never ordered a burger here. I've had their fish and chips - very good and some of their special plates. Every time the food was great! I got the bear burger! And ohhh man was that beef patty big and delicious!! As I was eating I kept telling my husband "man this is such a good burger!" I will be ordering again real soon!! Nooooo. No. No. Nooo. Legit, this place hasn't even been open that long and it's already begging for a visit from Bar Rescue. It's dirty. The bartenders are very friendly, but they aren't given a whole lot to work with when it comes to their menu. The beer menu is large, but almost every beer my husband requested was no longer available. They do have a great beer selection, assuming that the beer that you request is actually there. I happened to have a fly land in my beer and needed to have a refill. Seriously just poured. There are flies everywhere. The bartender said that it is unusual for them to have flies in the bar, but judging by the way the employees acted as if it was normal, I have a feeling he wasn't being honest. We didn't bother ordering food. They were trying to push some Chilean sea bass, which was $17 a plate, and judging by the cleanliness of their bar, plus the surplus of flies, that's not something we wanted to try. The area doesn't have much else to choose from, so I guess most people become regulars of the draft house, but next time we are in town we will venture out a little further. read more

The service at a bar was terrible. My waitress only came to our table TWICE during the 45min we were there and that was to take our drink order and bring us drinks. Because of this, a member of my party went to request a shot a from the bar. The male bartender told her "can you get something else because thats fucking annoying" and walked off. I personally tried to get a waitress' and female bartender's attention because a couple was trying to sit at a table and needed it cleaned off. *Note: The female bartender was helping the waitresses! This is important* I asked the female bartender to assist the couple with cleaning the table so they could sit down. She said "yea we'll get to it" and walked off. She walked past that couple TWICE over the next 15min and did not once assist. I then asked a waitress (not mine because she was nowhere to be found) and she literally said to me "well im cleaning off other tables right now" and picked up THREE glasses from the table and walked off, leaving the couple sitting there for another 15min. (That couple stood for about 20min and then sat at that dirty table until someone finally came which was when we walked out the door). At that point I asked our waitress, because she finally came back, for our checks. The female bartender brought them to us. When we told her what the male bartender said to a member of our party, she replied "well we cant make that shot anyway we dont have whipped cream." She didn't apologize for what was said, she didn't acknowledge what was said, she just gave another excuse. She then walked away and said "well its a busy night". As we left, we asked to speak to the manager. One man came out to talk to us. While telling him what happened, the bartender walked by and laughed. Showed no remorse whatsoever. Never apologized. Then another manager came up and when we told him what happened, he surprisingly had the same reaction as the first guy - both of them rolled their eyes (as if this wasnt the first time this has happened) and then acted like it wasnt anything new. So basically they didnt care. He then proceeded to say, "give them a gift card, i gotta pee" and walked off. We didnt accept the gift card. The manager apologized for what happened but then said "it was a busy night though". They didnt care. He didnt even flinch when i spoke up and said that we saw multiple tables get up and leave because of the service. Never coming here again. read more

This place was on our weekly visits for lunch. I guess we were not regulars enough. The last straw was when we were pretty much ignored upon our arrival. The sad part was there were 3 people behind the bar and we had to wait while they attended to the single person sitting at the bar. Then the liquor salesman comes in and they ignore us again. We had to wave one down to order something to drink, so Miss Busybody had a bit of an attitude when she got us our drinks but never got us menus , they know we come there for lunch. 10 minutes later as we were about to leave and go somewhere else we get menus. We order, get our food and we then turned invisible, my water was empty, one other was looking to get a beer and the other had no tea. Then we had to pretty much shout at the 3 to stop talking to the salesperson so we could pay and leave. We shall find another place for our Thursday lunch stop. I guess they don't need new customers by the way they treat the "non regulars", once a week for 6 months does not make one a regular in this place so they won't miss us, and we surely won't miss them. read more
