Came back here yesterday with my friend to have yummy food!. So we got there and they are still using the staging area, but there was only 2 cars infront of us, but the wait in that area was only 5 min. The time from ordering and getting the food was about 5 min and of course it was amazing!! My new favorite drink is ocean water, its so freaking good!!! Wow I'm sadden that there are so many bad reviews, but I can't blame anyone. I grew up where there was a Sonic around every corner. Always good food and good service. I've been waiting for Sonic to come out here. So far the one at Santee has been ok, but not great. I would have given the place 5 stars just because it's Sonic, but the location hasn't been that great. Our food has been good, but misunderstood orders. Like mistaking a grape slush for a grape cream slush. Don't know how they got the word 'cream' from our order. They were nice in trying to correct the mistake, but we decided to try the cream slush and liked it. They nearly gave us another cream slush, so whenever I order I speak up and make sure they can't mistake slush for cream slush. Then there was the time they gave me tator tots instead of fries. No big deal, I ate the tots. Found out after years of not eating tator tots, I still like fries better. The best things to order at Sonic are the conies, chili cheese fries, and chicken strip dinner. I just like their chicken in general, but the dinner is my favorite. The slushies and other desserts are tasty and lots of varieties. One thing that does bother me is the stage lines when it's getting dark. It's hard to see who the employee is waving to when you've got two lines. It would be nice if they'd walk over. I nearly went when the guy was pointing to the other line. I'm sure it's frustrating for them as it is for some of the drivers. read more

I remember when this place was first opening up. I waited three months before even attempting to try it. I would drive by and see the line and keep driving past it. I've only been to Sonic a handful of times. I'm not impressed with their burgers or fries. I feel like it is just a step above McDonald's. I think what they have going for them are their drinks. I go to this Sonic a lot. Let's break it down to tell you why I only gave it 4 stars. First: Service...5 stars! Carhops are friendly & helpful...always willing to skate in & get you an extra sauce or something special. Please remember to tip them...I wouldn't want to have to carry a tray full of food & drinks on roller shates! Second:Happy Hour...5 stars! Half price drinks everyday from 2pm-4pm! What a deal! Third:Variety of drinks...5 stars! If you can't find something you want to drink,you aren't thirsty! Fourth:Ice Cream Treats...5 stars! What's not to like?! Fifth:Food...4 stars! Here's the problem...inconsistant food! Especially,temperature...all I ask for is HOT food! Oh,& please get the toppings right! If I ask for no mayo...don't also leave off the ketchup...I wanted it! The only good thing that came from this was that the onion rings were good. I personally love Sonic but this was one of the worst experiences I've had. They took forever to take our order and when they did we had to repeat it several times. They were also out of lots of things such as tater-tots and blue coconut cream slushes. That was REALLY disappointing. They forgot to add in a lot of other things that was supposed to come with the meal anyways. The parking was horrible too. It was crowded and tightly spaced for a Sunday night. This was a disappointing Sonic experience, and I expected more from one of the California ones. read more

This location is always hit and miss. Service can be very slow, whether they are busy or not. I have never had a problem with the food and the shakes are always great. Especially after 8pm when they are 1/2 price! read more

Went for dinner with the family tonight. On the menu was a special for the boneless chicken wings. Said buy one order get one free. So we ordered the 24 pack, then we were told that that special expired on the 1st. The lady taking our order came outside to look. We showed her where the advertisement is, she then said that she was just an employee and couldn't do anything. We asked to speak to a manager and she told us that he was really busy inside. I explained that they need to honor the sale that was posted. She then apologized once again and said that they have been really busy to change the ad and once again said "I'm only an employee" as she continued to ignore us and walked back inside. We pressed the button again and asked for the manager, a few seconds later he came out and we explained that the ad was still out and needs to be honored. The manager explained that he is just the night time manager and can't do anything. When we drove into Sonic's they only had 2 customers and a staff of about 10. Not sure how they have been to busy to change the signage since the 1st. today is the 4th and around 8:30 pm. read more

Worst service. Waited over 30 minutes for 2 shakes. Pressed the button again to ask if my shakes were on the way yet only to be told "well Jesus might not be here but your shakes still are" only to sit waiting another 10+ minutes. Finally able to talk to a manager and had nothing to say but ya he'll get in trouble later. read more

Originally I rated this as 2 stars but it got a 3rd because of the drinks. I think its the only thing worth getting here. The food is mediocre at best but I love the drinks. I would have to say that my favorite is the limeades and Route 44 Ocean Water. But the worst part of this place is its location. It is so far from anything unless you live that inland. I guess I would only complain cause I live by the coast. read more

After multiple bad experiences here, I decided I would make one last effort and then review for a fair chance and my experience was expected. Ten dollars gets me a burger side drink and a shake, the tots were cold just as the fries normally are, and the burger was delicious yet left me feeling sick an hour later which is what I expect because for some reason this is how their burgers make me feel but I wanted to give a fair review. Also, the employees completely were ignoring customers in the drive thru not even telling anybody wether or not it was closed. All in all, drive down the street another block for in and out it is well worth it I would never recommend sonic to anybody read more

I try this place every once in a great while, and it's always a mistake. I grew up in Texas, where Sonic is AWESOME. This Sonic is crap. The burgers have a dog-food like consistency, are never hot, juicy, or anything you'd want a burger to be. The only thing I've ever had here that was decent were the jalapeno poppers. THOSE are so hot they're impossible to eat for at least 10 minutes. Today I went for the BLT, tater tots, and a cherry limeade. in the drive thru. Window girl asks if I want ketchup or sauces, and I asked for ketchup. She hands me my bag and says "Have a nice day." No limeade until I gave her a questioning look as to where my drink was. Glad I didn't drive off without it. Then I get home and discover I don't have any ketchup for my cold tater tots. Dry tater tots suck. Not any napkins, either. The sandwich was small and pretty pathetic. Their version of Texas toast is just sad. Thin, not buttery. Good Texas toast is a slice of heaven, pretty much the opposite of this. The whole sandwich was relatively flavorless. Didn't really taste like bacon, either. Pretty hard to mess up something as great as bacon. Even the cherry limeade that Sonic is known for didn't taste quite right. I think I'm done. read more

Sonic is my go-to place if I want to spend quality time with my friends and family pigging out in the car[: Every time I go to Sonic it is a must have that I leave with a 44 oz strawberry slush in my hands (and extra for my friends). It's actually the reason why I go to Sonic at all, the rest of the food there is just the cherry on top. Their prices are reasonable and the burgers are quite large and filling, but nothing out of the ordinary that I would make a long drive for. Well actually, you can get toasted bread instead of a bun, I prefer a little crunch to my food, but that's about it. Service has also been great every time I've gone. I'm not high maintenance in any way, but there was an instance where I ordered a real ice cream peanut butter shake with bacon added in. I'm a bacon lover, but the mixed in bacon bits were so burnt that I could hardly taste any bacon or even peanut butter. They ended up replacing my shake with a peanut butter banana and I was happy once again. I haven't and prob wont ever get bacon in my shake ever again though. Oh, and my boyfriend LOVES how thick and creamy the shakes are, it's practically soft ice cream that your unable to sip through a straw in the beginning, but it's very yummy[: Overall I'm happy with all my experiences and I'll be back soon for another real fruit strawberry slush. read more

This place has messed up my order three consecutive times now. My first trip, resulted in having two orders that weren't ours come out to our car, and had to send them back to find the right car. Then I received a snickers waffle cone instead of a brownie blast when my order came out. I understand mistakes happen, but 3 mistakes in a row on one visit? Come on guys. Order was corrected, and I was on my way. Now on my final attempt here, I order a chocolate oreo blast. I received a chocolate shake sitting on top of oreo crumbles and chocolate syrup. Not mixed at all. Got out my car and found an employee, who said, "Oh, they must have not mixed it all the way. Sorry." and walked inside. Didn't offer to fix it at all. Being raised in Texas, Sonic has been a big part of my life. When this Sonic in Santee opened, I was ecstatic! Since then, I have been bitterly dissapointed. I normally get a chicken strip basket which comes with gravy, fries, texas toast, and chicken. About a month ago, I ordered my favoite meal there, I opened up my box and the gravy was unmixed. I could still see the powder! It was completely inedible. I called their hotline and talked to a nice lady about the issue. They sent me a postcard in the mail for a free sandwich. The other day, I decided to give this place a try... Maybe it got better.. Well it did not! I ordered extra gravy, which I never got. When I told the carhop asked how our meal was, I told her that I had a problem with the gravy. She said, "Is it disgusting?" I said yes, and told her that it was thick and salty. She took it back and thinned it out, but it was still awful! I told her not to worry about it beacuse I was so frustrated. I will not be spending my money here again. They've obviously had this complaint before and have not done anything to fix it! read more

bought the chocolate malt and the new Campfire Blast. The malt was...a malt but I was eager to try the new Campfire Blast. The first bite was sweet and really tasty. You could definitely taste the graham crackers with the rest of the chocolate and whip cream. It has to be eaten more like a sundae than a milkshake so I would not recommend buying it through the drive through. About half way through the campfire blast the sweet, rich, taste catches up and it becomes overwhelming. It may be something better to share than to try to consume all on your lonesome. read more

First time I have been there, Went with the Classic double bacon cheeseburger w tots. This burger was very greasy and not much flavor, If I had to guess its classic frozen burger that you pay way to much for. My advice is drive another two blocks and pick up In-and Out. read more
