Friday nights meant pulling into a stall, hanging out with friends or going on a date, and getting that unmistakable drink in the iconic cup, a burger wrapped in the silver Sonic paper, and hot, crispy fries. It wasn't just a meal it was an experience. Unfortunately, this visit felt like that experience has been stripped away. The fries were cold, my drink came in a plain plastic cup instead of the classic Sonic cup, and my burger was tossed into a generic box instead of the familiar silver Sonic wrapper. Individually, those might seem like small details. But together, they're the very things that made Sonic feel like Sonic. Branding isn't just a logo it's the memories people attach to it. When you change all the little touches that generations grew up with, you lose part of what made the brand special. People who served me my food had an attitude from when i was ordering to when i received my order. It did take about 15 minutes just to get my drinks and milkshakes. After we did receive our drinks our drink order was wrong but it had already took too long to get them we ended up driving off. Unfortunately the last few times I've come here I've dealt with rude staff and stale food, while this afternoon I didn't have to deal with bad food, the service of the staff was incredibly off. I usually will substitute a base for ice cream when getting iced drinks, and today I wanted to try the new unicorn slush. I was told "I have to have it as it comes, they have to make it that way" which is not true at all. When getting to the window the lady was very abrupt with me and upon handing my food did so with a silent thrust and a shut of the window. Gods always good. One time I asked for extra fudge and mnms and got neither. This most recent time I ordered online it took forever to actually come out to us. I'm a big fan of leaving reviews on low star locations. Not sure what all the fuss is about. Sonic is sonic. You get what's expected. Drive thru was empty, only took a few minutes to get my chili cheese coney combo with a medium flavored Dr Pepper. Parked and ate at an empty stall without a kiosk. Someone pulled up to an ordering stall next to me and was able to order very timely, got their food just as fast. Sonic is fast garbage food, compared to the one in sparks this location actually tastes less dehydratingly salty. The only real bummer about this spot is the location itself. The building and signage is looking rough, there's a lot of old stickers and paper signs on the drive thru window that feel kinda grungy. The driveway from mc carran into the parking lot has a massive pot hole and there's active construction behind the building. That's the only downside. The food isn't gourmet, but it's sonic drive in for gods sake. Reviewers should be a little more realistic about what they're ordering. read more

I am doordashing. It says in the pickup instructions to wait at stall and push button. I was sitting there for 12 minutes before someone asked for my order. I told them pickup for DoorDash. They said I need to go to drive thru! That's not what the app said. So then I had to sit in drive thru for another 10 min. That's over a 20 minute wait. I'm doing this for money and the customers said they almost cancelled their order. Which meant I would have driven 20 minutes without getting paid for it! Sonic is a holdover from living several years in Oklahoma. Love their Cherry Limeades! Today I ordered burgers, tots, cherry limeades, and breakfast burritos for tomorrow so I can focus on my holiday baking and not worry about fixing breakfast or dinner tonite. Burgers are consistently good, not great but good for fast food. Breakfast burritos , however, are excellent. Meaty, cheese, tots all rolled into a flour burrito. Usually access through the back, but today it was closed and locked. I had to drive through the oil change place and maneuver to the front entrance. 1.5.24 update: I tried to give this Sonic another chance, but it's a no-go. I mobile ordered ahead and pulled into a stall when I arrived and checked-in. After waiting over 5 minutes, it said my order was coming out. I waited and waited and waited. I finally pushed the button to talk to someone and explained the situation, to which they told me to wait in the Drive-Thru line when I shouldn't have had to do so. Now after waiting 20 minutes in the Drive-Thru line I get up to the window and ask for a refund and explain that my food should have been ready 25 minutes ago. They would not honor a refund but offered to re-make my food fresh, threw in a small shake, and gave me a coupon for a free limeade and tater tots. Even though they re-made the food, it was warm at best and the pickled fries were soggy, the mozzarella sticks were gummy, and the hot dog wasn't hot and they put way too much relish on it. I'm really not one to complain, but the food was terrible. From beginning to end, I spent 45 minutes there. Yet again Ive not learned my lesson. Tried this location and it was terrible. Good: Not busy at the 12pm hour, easy access off McCarran Blvd Bad: CC terminal at the unit did not work, gentleman had to take it inside for payment, he was rude about it. Fries were hard as wood, cold . Hamburger was okay however looks like they just slapped it together. Dry. No mayo or mustard or anything on it. No napkins No Straw. Use caution if ordering on the Sonic App. Will state that the store is open till midnight on weekdays but they close at 11pm. So if you order food in that one hour window you will arrive to find no lights on and no one to explain the issue. One would expect the store's official app for online ordering to have accurate hours but this is for a fast food chain whose entire gimmick is being stuck in the past. I've been in Reno for about 7 years and this is the first time I've eaten at Sonic. From what I observed there was an outdoor eating area, and a couple of stalls where you can park your car to order when ready. My roommate and I looked throughout the menu and we both agreed that we were going to order some type of slushy drink; that's what Sonic is known for! Not to mentioned we arrived around 10pm so Sonic was having their "half price after 8pm" special. That's half price on any shakes, floats, and ice cream slushes! With these hot summer nights, a slushy sounded so appeasing. So we ordered a large Barq's Root Beer Float and a large Strawberry Real Fruit Slush. Now as always, my favorite part, the food. I'm not a huge fast food type of guy, however we were both very hungry and ordered the Crispy Tender Dinner, a small sized mozzarella sticks, a Chili Cheese Coney, a Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger and a small sized popcorn chicken. The order was successfully executed and delivered. My highlight was that Barq's Root Beer Float. Night Shift Manager sent me on my way with threats when all I wanted was my complete order or information on how to get a refund. Ice cream machine was broken and that was not communicated when order was dropped off. I had a vanilla ice cream in a cup only $2.16. I was told by another employee to wait he'll give me a small vanilla shake. I waited for a while no shake. This Sonic location is very hit or miss. Every time I have gone on my own I have had no issues and the only mistake has been a hot dog instead of a corn dog in a kids meal. It has been delivered in a timely manner and the workers have been very polite. I have ordered through the app every time. Contrasted with every time my husband goes something is wrong. He also orders through the app every time. The order is wrong, either having the wrong food or it is missing some thing that was supposed to in it. We came for 1/2 price shakes for a Valentines promo. We ordered on the Sonic app, which was easy to use. And once you arrive you let them know which stall you're in, and they bring out your food. The menu screen even gets loaded with a hello message with your name on it and lets you know your server's name and when the order is on the way. I got the Oreo Cheesecake shake and loved every bit of it. My husband got the salted caramel shake which was equally as tasty, but I always prefer cookie or a little crunch in the shake, rather than just smooth ice cream. It was a good experience. We have eaten here a few times for hot dogs and burgers, slushes, and shakes. Endless varieties of drinks. It's so hard to choose. I like the Chicago dogs. And the tots. We don't get over to Sonic as often anymore, living across town. But it's worth the drive every so often. You eat in your car and order at a menu in a stall.
