Two stars because when I get food, it's delicious, but the shakes, or blasts as they call them, are on my last nerve. I've gotten more than one with a handful of candy on top, but no candy throughout. I originally called the store and asked the manager if that was normal, he apologized and I went back for a replacement which was made correctly (candy throughout). I went back like a month or so later and the same thing happened. I didn't bother going back for a replacement or calling. Today I went through the drive thru, wend I asked before I ordered of the can't went throughout asmr it was confirmed that candy went through the whole shake so I ordered one. Alright, so Sonic isn't exactly a classy place, nor is it anything special. But this was the first time that I've ever went to one before, and it was decent enough to want to review it, so here it is! We decided to stop here on the way to Trader Joe's, so we sat and ate it in our car. They have these neat little car ports if you will, where you can pull up and order, and then they deliver your food to you on roller skates. Not a job I could do as I would undoubtedly fall and get milk shake all over everywhere. --Food: We both ordered Crispy Chicken Tenders and Fries. I had mine with a side of Honey Mustard and she had her's with BBQ. The chicken was super crunchy and rather tasty. The fries were alright, nothing spectacular, but not bad either. The dipping sauce was good, but we only got one packet each, and with 5 tenders and an order of fries, it's not really enough. The combos we got also came with a drink or choice, and we both got a type of limeade. I went with a plain ole' original Limeade, which was tasty and refreshing, and she had a cherry limeade, which was also good and more cherryer. Cherrier. Cherryer? More cherry. --Cost: If it weren't for the price, I probably would be more inclined to give the Sonic a 3, but let's face it, $14 for two large combos with chicken tenders, fries, and a choice of specialty drink really is quite affordable. I've paid more for less. --Atmosphere: There is a place to sit down with about 7 tables outside, about 10 or so carports, and a drive through lane. No indoor seating. It is located right behind Home Depot in the nicer part of Short Pump. --Service: No complaints. Our food was delivered to us in Roller Skates. I have a hard enough time not delivering food on Roller Skates. --Overall: This was my first time at a Sonic, and probably not my last. This is not the first time I have had issues with this sonic. I drive 30+ mins just to order food from there. I went to sonic and pulled in the stall ordered the food, it said it would be ready by 9:51-9:57. I was like okay well I'm already here so I checked in like it told me to.. they brought out the food no drinks so I asked if he was bringing the rest back. He said yes. I waited 5 mins until I hit the button for assistance. The first man I did not understand. The Second Lady I could barely understand, and she told me I had to pull around to the front door. I was like why ? She proceeds to tell me that they don't have anyone to bring stuff out to cars after 10. (At this time it was exactly 10... ) I said "why do I need to go all the way around the building and get out of my car to get my drinks when he brought out my food already. I was here before the time said it was going to be ready and I have to get out my car ?!?!? That was the whole point of me doing that, so that I did not have to get out of my car..." she tells me I have to either come to the door or get in the drive through line. ( Which had 6 cars in the line) I pull around the building trying to calm my anger, park in the parking spot, and walk up to the door. There is already a man standing there arguing with a lady. There is a guy taking out the trash and asked what did I need? I told him I was picking up my drinks. He goes inside for a minute and then comes back out. Says it'll be out in a minute. ( which frustrates me because they should've already been ready !!) after the Hispanic lady finishes arguing with the guy and he walks away. She asked me what I needed so I told her I was picking up my drinks as I'm talking to her explaining the whole situation and how I'm frustrated someone brings out my drinks. All I get from her is a "oh ! I'll talk to him about it." I didn't even get an. I'm sorry or anything so I just simply told her this is not the first time I've had an issue here and I will no longer be coming back. Worst service broken down order pull up to self serve kiosks not Deaf/deaf or HOH friendly either. Twice in the past month I went bc in the past we loved their shakes and burgers but the last two times were awful. Wrong food and drinks and I mean everything the first time. We drove off they were busy. By the time we realized we were too far away. We tried again yesterday hoping we had a bad crew but nope, first we tried to order ourselves but they could not hear us and said get in line. So back to the end of the line we went. Then we had a simple order but as we came up to the order speaker every time I spoke they would talk real fast and say is it that after each item before I could even complete my sentence. I told them I have Cochlear implants and am deaf but can hear but I hoh even with my processors on and needed them to let me finish my order before asking after each item. This did not change after getting up to the car behind the window out comes the same guy who did this same thing last time and he remembered me and I said what do you need he mumbled something went back inside. Got to the window there he was. I said you remember me? He did not speak. I said last time I bought $33.00 of food and got $15 nothing I ordered was right. Again he did not speak. I said can you get a manager he did, another kid. I ask this kid to repeat my order and surprisingly It was right. We check the order paid and left but no offer to reimburse me from the last order. If I could give a 0 I would. Stopped by on a relatively slow Monday afternoon (03/07/2021 around 2 pm) for some food. As I was in the drive thru, I could tell the car in front of us was upset with whoever was working at the window. We initially felt bad for whoever who was there but once we went to get our order it was apparent why the previous customer had been upset. Our order had a few issues . The drinks ( L cherry limeade & M strawberry lemonade) were wrong. We mentioned it to her and she said no she only had two medium drinks, a cherry limeade and a strawberry lemonade. We said OK that's fine but both of the drinks have lime in them. She said "yeah a cherry and strawberry limeade" when she had literally just said something else. We corrected her and she eventually took the drink back and remade the strawberry lemonade. OK. No big deal. When my husband received his food he asked for some ketchup and was told it was in the bag. He looks and see 1 packet so he asks for some more ketchup. She says "you never asked for ketchup" and he's like yes I did and you just told me it's in the bag. She then says "you asked just now". Needless to say her whole demeanor was just rude and nonchalant. Obviously people make mistakes and that's fine but the fact that she kept arguing about the mistakes instead of just acknowledging it and fixing it didn't sit right with us. Stopped here for lunch while out in the Short Pump area, mostly for nostalgic purposes, and to see if the sweet potato tots were still happening so i could try them. Ordered a burger, popcorn chicken and tots. Burger looked sad and unimpressive--tasted okay, but not spectacular. It looked like a shitty McDonald's burger circa the 90s. Popcorn chicken was alright, but the tots--my main hankering--were terrible. There was crunch, yes, but absolutely tasteless and unenjoyable. Use to go to Sonic all the time as a kid in the summer for slushies and limeades, and the tots, etc. They have a happy hour from 2-4 where drinks are half off. Didn't order any slushies at this visit, so I don't know if those still rule supreme. But I've learned my lesson: don't order food from Sonic, especially the tots. Don't go to sonic if you need drive thru service. This is not their strength. Great place if you are going to park to get food. The drive in menu font is too small to read. The servers are rude and not helpful when you point that out and ask for help. Service is extremely slow. It would be faster to park, order, let them bring your food and you take it to go. BTW...try calling the customer support number to give feedback. There were so many options, I gave up and decided to post my comments here. Sonic have French toast sticks to burgers. You can order breakfast all day. The breakfast is my favorite. The flavored drinks are tasty. You can add fruit flavors to any drink on the menu. The burgers and chili cheese tots are solid. I usually dont like fast food restuarant milkshakes but Sonic milkshakes are good. Sonic has a walk up window, drive-thru and sections where you park to order from your vehicle. This location is busy on weekend nights (Fri & Sat).The service is fast. New location! I am happy to see a Sonic close to my work, there was a time when Sonic was a road trip away. We parked and ordered from the board, though there are plenty of spaces to pull up and order. I got the Crispy Chicken sandwich and I liked it. Very simple (mayo, lettuce, tomato) but it hit the spot. Ryan (my constant companion) got the Texas Toast burger, with beer battered onion rings and BBQ sauce. Major sandwich envy. Tots on the side, which were like little hash brown bites, crunchy, warm and salty. When the server brought our food he pretended part of our order was missing, smiling big to let on he was joking. A little awkward... The tables out front are a nice alternative to eating in your car, even if it was a bit cold. The food warms you up! :) read more

Who doesn't like fast food brought to their car by a skating carhop? :-) The new location on Broad St is much more convenient to go to, so I have been a few times. With all of the different flavor combinations of drinks available it's impossible to find something you don't like. I like that they cycle their menu with key new items every so often. But I do wish they would bring back the sweet potato tots to Sonic!! They have everything you could expect from a drive-in food joint: from burgers, fries, and the normal fried/greasy fare, to sandwiches, burritos, breakfast fare and milkshakes. The Chipotle Breakfast burrito was the business! The price is always right, and the food always comes out quick. read more

Never had a problem here. Quick service with nice workers. Prices can be a little pricey for fast food but food is good enough. Addicted to the cherry limeade slushee so I have to make sure I come during happy hour to get 50% off. Happy hour makes it all worth it :) read more

The best thing about this Sonic is that it's fast, both when you pull up and when you go through the drive thru. The carhops on skates help. The only negative experience I've had here is that they put about 9 million ounces of caramel syrup in my iced coffee one morning which rendered it undrinkable. I like sugar, but it was unbearable. Unfortunately, I was in the drive thru and not the other side so by the time I tried it, I was too far gone to turn around. Living in NoVa, I make sure to stop here every time I'm in Richmond. You know, sometimes I'm just in the mood for Sonic. Be it that poppy seed hot dog bun, a huge burger with onion rings on texas toast, or that ocean water, sometimes you just need a sonic. I visited last night for this same fix and got it. Just what I expected, with one fatal flaw: sweet potato tots are no more... Don't let this sway you though, as it did not sway me. My review would be 3 stars either way. Ended up getting the #3 - half pound burger with cheese sticks. Pricey for fast food, just over $7.00 - but man was I full. The fiance got regular tots, but asked for them well done. Believe it or not, they actually came nice and crispy, well done. Okay Sonic, I'll raise you one star.... But they can never remember the condiments. I specifically asked for katchup and honey mustard for the fiance's chicken tenders and they forgot, had to push the button again. This is a frequent occurrence (DO NOT DRIVE AWAY UNTIL YOU CHECK YOU BAG). Sorry Sonic, back to three stars. Let's face it, if you're going to do fast food (and I usually don't), Sonic is the bee's knees. All the same prices as your basic chain joint, but the food, in my opinion, is significantly better. I visited the new location in Short Pump yesterday and was first in awe of how juicy my cheeseburger was. A fast food cheeseburger in a foil wrapper was LITERALLY dripping. YUM. That never happens (unless you go to Five Guys, but that's another review). I love all the choices and everything is good! Good chili on the Coney Dog, tasty tots, fresh onion rings. I love all the flavors you can add to your soda, and the way you can mix up milkshake flavors for a combo milkshake. KIds will love watching the carhops roller skate over with meals. My daughter continually talked about how much she LOVED eating in the car. For a tasty, quick meal that's a little quirky and fun, stop through Sonic. There's almost always a problem with my order. The drive-up service is not a reliable speed. I've ordered a lot and gotten my food in 5 minutes, and I've ordered a milkshake and it's taken over 20 minutes. I honestly don't know why I continue to go back. If there's an issue with your order and you paid thru the app, you have to call customer service for a refund because the restaurant says they can't help you with any app orders or issues. read more

Decided to grab some dinner here with the family. This Sonic is fairly new and I have fond memories of Sonic from my high school days so why not introduce the next generation! Since we had two cars with us (different story), we decided to eat at the picnic tables they have out front. This method did make it easier for each of the kids to figure out what they wanted before we placed our order, always a struggle with kids! placing the order was easy and they took it accurately. My favorite part of the order process is being able to pay with my debit card at the screen, saves having to deal directly with the server. When the food arrived, one of the orders was wrong (brought a single burger when I ordered a double). They quickly fixed it and brought out the correct sandwich, all with a friendly demeanor. Later in the meal, they somehow wound up with an extra chocolate shake so they brought it out to us and asked if we wanted it. I thought that was very considerate of them. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was pretty good for a fast food establishment. We'll definitely be back if we find ourselves in the area again. read more
