Not sure how many people are staffed here, but it felt like there were only 1-2 ppl actually working. When it was our turn to order, the guy taking our order had attitude asking us if we wanted to order anything else. Once ordered, the wait for our food didn't take long at all. So... Probably one of the worst sonic locations on earth. It's always dirty, the staff looks miserable and the food is always always terrible. I keep trying to give them chances but always end up disappointed. Usually they have their drinks to fall back on but even the milkshakes were watery and just gross today. The extra star is only because the staff, although looking miserable we're trying their best and the cheddar peppers were ok. I hate to make a complaint when it's not the food or service that I'm complaining about. It's the ownership. Have they no pride in the only Sonics we have within miles of the next one?! The property is dirty. The drive-thru order box is tagged with graffiti. The walls of the building are dirty. The windows and doors are filthy. The outside tables and chairs are always dingy. The stalls are either broken, damaged, or just not in use. I'd hate to see what the inside looks likes but the exterior needs some power-washing. It's been like this for years now. Always come to this location when I'm near by. The workers and customer service are on point. I will always order from the eat in your car booth. They still roll out with their skates to deliver your order. The one in Tracy don't take your order out on roller skates anymore which a bummer. Come after 8 that's when you can get some items discounted. Their slushes are really tasty. I wish they have one in San Jose so I don't have to drive far. A little adventure don't hurt. read more

So this time we went to the drive in , we sat there for ever trying to order and then they told us they are only accepting cash so we walked over to the gas station to get cash and came back git in the car and tried to order and the girl goes. Like someone said before there is always something wrong here. I worked in retail and in food service before so i get it stuff happens, but come on. They constantly only have 1 or 2 employees working here. I get it for slow days but this isn't really a slow spot,they get a lot of business. The lines constantly wrapped around the block they tell you at the car hop its drive through only. After waiting 25 mins in the drive through they tell you they are out of ice cream. We often drive from the Bay Area and in tears past we would look forward to our stop - double burger - milkshake - tater tots. However the last two times we stopped here: 1. The service is beyond bad 2. The food was cold and tasted old 3. The milkshake had no taste We tried again three days ago and after moving spots and pressing the red service button multiple times and after twenty minutes, we finally got back in our car and drove off. Literally no staff responded. The parking is filthy dirty and I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. The drive thru was long, so we went to the drive-in. We had a big order (7 people), and let them know ahead of time. It took them 5 trips to bring all of our food because they kept forgetting stuff. The server looked at the receipt and tried to say he brought out all the Sonic Blasts, but he only brought 2. We ordered 5. The 2 that were brought out were the wrong ones. Three of us have severe peanut allergies, and they brought out a Reese's blast, which we did not order. We had to push the button again after getting half our order to have another employee to try and get the order right. We sent back a cheeseburger and 2 blasts. Oh wow, I just love this place so much! Their menu is as diverse as it comes (well, in terms of a "drive-in")! They have so many flavorful drinks with different candy fix-ins like nerds and pop rocks- YUM! Their french fries are tasty, their onion rings are even better, and they have ranch and bbq sauce if you ask for it! I love their cheeseburgers as well. They always have specials available like 2 for $9.99 options, different drinks, desserts, and sides. I gotta say though - this place is very, very not healthy! But, it's still tasty. Their drinks are super sweet. You may want to share a drink if you want to limit your sugar intake! They also have ice cream funnels with cups of ice cream like snickers or reese's and you can add a "chocolate" syrup or a "caramel" funnel...this was one of the largest servings of ice cream I ever had! It's like a blizzard from Dairy Queen or a McFlurry from McDonald's. But even bigger! Pretty efficient service with the food coming right out to the car, and great place to stop, get a bite to eat, and jump right back on the freeway, or make your move to shop over at the Gilroy Outlets. Just stopped by during a slow time, there weren't many cars in the lot. We ordered three meals and a few shakes, we waited over 40 minutes for nothing. With a toddler and an infant in the car after a long road trip, it should not take that long to get food. The attendant who answered the intercom sounded under the influence & did not answer after we dinged to check in about the wait time. This establishment deserves to close if the owners don't check this behavior. I can see why there aren't more of these around. Every time we come here, there's an issue. Their latest move? Let you sit at the stall with your red order light blinking for 20+ minutes. Take the order from the guy next to you and bring him his order. Still not take your order. Then, come on the speaker to tell you it's suddenly drive thru only. Never mind that you've been there longer than the current drive thru line. They refuse to take your order and have you get it at the drive thru window. The service is slow, when you press the red button you have to wait awhile before you can order and have to wait quite some time to get your food. If you're in a hurry please use the drive through. Also, we got an uncooked corn dog in one of our orders. July 13, 2019 I've been so unhappy with their service. I ordered a strawberry limeade and a cookie dough sonic blast. On Saturday at 12:55 PM 11/12/22 My husband and I parked in one of the booths to eat our lunch. We waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken. Then after waiting 20 more minutes a message came up on our screen saying someone named Alfredo was on the way with our food. After waiting 15 more minutes we chose to leave and eat elsewhere. I'm following up with my last review which was over a year ago, and it wasn't a great experience either. Nothing has changed. Service still sucks. I ordered this time via their in the drive thru line. After I placed my order from the microphone, it took no joke almost 30 freaken minutes to get my food. What the hell is wrong with this place? The carports look like trash and are falling apart. Missing parts, dents, etc. Employees pile up drinks, food, etc. near the door they walk out of and are not delivering anything to people waiting in carports. So by the time they are done working on the 20th order going out to carports, your food or whatever you ordered is cold, melted. Etc. Don't go here, you will be disappointed. Clearly management doesn't care about their customers, employees, etc. this place needs to be sold. Every time I've come to sonic it always get worse. Just don't go here. Side Note: their milk shakes are basically whipped cream on top, whipped cream mixed with ice cream. Hardly any topping in the middle. Too many toppings on the bottom with more whipped cream and no way your getting all those toppings through a straw. read more

My girlfriend and I ordered and paid at one of the stalls at 9:30pm. The card was immediately charged. After 30 minutes go by, I wanted to see if there were any updates on our order. I pressed the red button and before I can even speak, one of the workers gets on the speaker and tells us "sorry, the stalls are closed, you can order at the drive thru." Yet we had already placed our order half an hour ago, was charged, and other stalls had received their orders by that time. I had to get out of the car, walk to the drive-thru window in order to inform one of the workers that at that point we had been waiting 45 minutes for a relatively small order, for us to actually get our food. Lo and behold, a minute later, we finally get our food (which was cold) and our (now melted) Oreo blast to our car. Almost as if it had just been sitting around for nearly an hour. To summarize, the team members here have absolutely no clue what they're doing. There's also an obvious, complete lack of customer service skills that desperately needs improvement. I guess when you never eat at a place very often, you look forward to it that much more when you do get it. Whenever my family taka a Disney trip we always stop here on the way up. The food is alright at best, but their popcorn chicken is pretty good. I always get a large order and their jalapeño poppers. They have a pretty extensive menu with something for everyone. I also like they have a big dessert menu. Mostly shakes, malts and slushees. If you're driving a mini van or something similar the bays where you park to order your food can seem a little small so if you have a larger car then I would park in the tractor store lot and eat at one of their tables outside. Or go drive thru and park and eat. The staff is always super friendly when we come and we've never had a problem with anything when we come, except the bathrooms being closed one time;) read more

We've never been at this location and were passing by during our road trip. Definitely not coming back. The Sonic commericals make the food to die for. Every stoner's dream. But, when you actually try it, it's just alright. I had gone here a couple years ago when they first opened, on the way back to LA. I had a puppy then, so we opted to sit outside, and not have the real drive-in experience. Plus, since they had just opened, there weren't any drive in's available on a late Sunday night. Had a burger and the tater tots. The burger was average, and sitting in the cold and trying to have the pup be settled probably didnt help either. The tater tots are good, but how can you go wrong with these tots? I was told its the drinks that make Sonic's food, so will have to try that next time, and enjoy it in the luxury of the car, while having the servers bring it by on roller skates. :) read more

Came here with my brother again during Happy Hour to take advantage of the drink specials and for him to have his first Coney Dog! We ordered one Coney Dog, Ched R Peppers, Watermelon Slush and a Pineapple Shake. My brother loved his Coney Dog, Peppers and Watermelon Slush and I totally agree- the Coney Dog is good and the Peppers are pretty damn delicious ... especially with ranch! Woo! The Slush is just the right consistency of ice and flavor, you don't get chunks of ice sans flavoring at the bottom of your cup. My Pineapple Shake made my tummy feel funny though, something about the chunks of pineapples and very Vanilla-y flavored ice cream didn't work right. Will be back, when I have a day free of plans and in need of a delicious slush and some food delivered via car hops. P.S. 3.5 stars After all the hype from The Simple Life and a new location in Gilroy, I thought Sonic's was A OK. It is more of a novelty type place with the food to be just alright. I had the chicken tenders along with the onion rings and I found them to be average and nothing special. Sonic's is cheap but there is nothing more I can say about it. Something interesting, my friend and I were joking about what if a guy came out on roller skates and delivered our food to us? We laughed about it and when our food came out, it was a guy who rolled out on skates and gave us our food. His name was Cesar and man, we were having a blast laughing cause they actually do have male skaters. I like how you can pay and eat in the car without having to leave your vehicle but it's not worth it when the food is alright. I've been here quite a few times. I love coming during happy hour because the drinks and the food are always a little cheaper. I also love that you can sit in your car and eat or sit at the tables outside. The drinks are always refreshing, especially in the summer. And the food is always pretty tasty. I love trying the different burgers they have but have fell in love with their chili and cheese tater tots. The tater tots are covered very generously with very hot (temperature) chili and cheese. The service is a hit or miss. I've had very fast service but I've also experienced having to wait quite a while in my car for the food to be done. For example, today's service was a little slow. My boyfriend and I ordered a cherry limeade, chili and cheese tater tots, and a corn dog as a small snack on the road.
