I'm a relative novice when it comes to Sonic Drive-In. Since it primarily exists in Indy's suburbs rather than directly in Indy, I'm seldom near one with the exception of when I'm out and about for work or other obligations. This location is almost smack dab on the line between Avon and Indy. It's set off to the side of Meijer's parking lot, though it has a decent-sized space once you get there. Sonic is known for its "drive-in" option - the ability to pull up with a retro-vibed ordering screen and carhops who will bring the food to your car. There's also a drive-thru, which I utilized, for those in a bit of a hurry. Because I seldom make it to Sonic, I always forget how it works. The drive-thru made it pretty simple, though in retrospect I kind of wish I'd gone for the Sonic experience. I really only wanted a snack, in this case tater tots, and a drink. In this case, I opted for a large iced coffee. While Sonic is generally known for being economical, I thought it was a bit high (I honestly don't remember the exact price - I just remember thinking it was more than expected). The employees were friendly. The line moved a tad slow, though it wasn't bad. I thought the iced coffee was a bit chintzy - yes, I'm glad there was lots of ice, however, it definitely wasn't close to filled to the top. You had to really put the straw in there to get to the coffee. The tater tots, a Sonic fave, were delicious. I ordered a medium order. Overall, this was a solid mid-range experience for me. Would I return? Sure. Would I go out of my way to return? Probably not. Sonic has a menu that is both somewhat traditional in terms of fast food and a bit unique in terms of defining its place in the fast food world. Now that I know this is here, and I missed it for a long time, I'll no doubt return when I'm in the mood for more than a snack. read more

EVERYTIME I give them another chance service is BEYOND slow and reminds me why I shouldn't come back. 20 minutes for 2 shakes that were melted and warm....really? Only a few other cars were there and it took so long for what seemed no reason. When we got our order taken we could hear people yelling and talking on the intercom then a worker shouted "what's up baby what are you getting" and silence until another person said what can we get you. Took my kids there to order ice cream after dinner at a restaurant. Thought it would be a quick trip so we stopped and sat at the tables and ordered our three mini blasts. They are very good and are economical. Sometimes I go through just to grab an order for a snack. Connie dog and tater tots are always my go to. Love the taste of their Coney and nothing like a just rice crispy tater tot. The line moves a little slow at this location so make sure you have a little extra patience and time to spare. Staff is friendly and we enjoy stopping by every now and then. There are carhop areas you can pull in and order from the screen. And they will bring the food to your car. They also have a drive-through you're in a hurry and don't have time to just sit and relax and eat your meal. I hadn't eaten at Sonic for a few years but when we lived in Texas, we loved going to Sonic. My wife's favorite drink is the diet cherry limeade. We were excited to go to the store today, we live in Fishers so it's a long drive. I ordered my favorite burger, double cheese burger with lettuce, mayonnaise, and extra pickles, and a side of French fries. My wife got a chili cheese dog with mustard and tater tots. We both got diet cherry limeades. The food was at our window in less than 5 minutes, we asked for some extra ketchup and mayonnaise, while the waitress was gone I tried my fries, they were cold. When she got back, I told her they were cold and she went to get new ones. Then I opened my burger, it was colder than the fry's. She brought back the fry's, they tasted like they refried hem, and told her the burger was cold. She went back, brought another burger with everything on it, not what I ordered. The burger was terrible. Threw it away. My wife's chile cheese had no cheese, didn't bother telling them that. I may never go back to Sonic, your standards are non-existent. Came here today for lunch with my hubby. I was craving chili cheese tots, so that's what I got but I also wanted to try the BLT toaster. The tots were great but the BLT sandwich sucked. There was one piece of sad lettuce, that wasn't even big enough to cover the piece of toast. The bread felt kind of hard and not fresh. Just over all not very appetizing and definitely looks nothing like the picture. The bacon was good, i ate that off the sandwich but didn't eat the rest of it. My boyfriend said the ice cream had no flavor and wasn't very good. Just be wary of what you get. I used to work at sonic and presentation of the food was important. The managers need to up the standards on the presentation of the meals before sending it out to the customers. This was by far the best Sonic I think I have ever been to! I love that it's also one of the locations where the servers still rollerblade/skate to your car! It has been a long time since I've had Sonic but a few months ago I had some pretty great tasting churro bites so I wanted to stop in and grab a bite and do some shopping while in the area. Upon arrival I glanced over the menu and realized they no longer have the churro bites but they had warm cookie dough bites alamode... oh my goodness., the vanilla ice cream was so creamy and rich. Perfect vanilla flavor, not super sweet and the perfect compliment to the warm cookie dough. It was worth all of the calories that I will work off at the gym later.. There are multiple ways to order which makes it super convenient. There's the traditional pull up where you order and your food/beverages are brought out by someone on skates. There's a drive-thru for those in a hurry. They have a walk up window and even a couple of tables where someone will come take your order. It's awesome! The employees are generally polite and friendly. I'm always greeted with a smile and a thank you. We love coming in the warmer months for after school treats with the kids! They love all the variations with candy and ice cream flavors. Heck, who am I kidding?! I love them too. There's M&M, snickers, Reese's, and Oreo, just to name a few.
