. The service was definitely a 10/10. My car was delivered very quickly and on time, and you made sure to find me a good load at the price I was looking for. I really appreciate everything and would definitely recommend SONIC AUTO to my friends and family. Thanks again, and sorry for the late review! read more

Sonic is a broker, not a carrier. They'll quote you a low price, but expect it to rise 30-50%--that inflated number is the actual market rate. The initial quote is just an estimate; the final price is confirmed only after they contact a real driver. You need a very flexible schedule. Drivers may commit and then no-show, or promise a morning pickup but arrive at night. You'll have to stay on top of things yourself. That said, my agent Cameron was great. When the first driver ghosted me, Cameron quickly found a second driver (though this cost me a few days). Luckily, the second driver didn't raise the price--but note: if your first driver bails, your quote is essentially void, and the next driver will either keep or increase the price; a discount is highly unlikely. Cameron even set up a Plan B and kept looking for a third driver in case the second fell through. That proactive backup planning was excellent. One caveat: Cameron works 5 AM-2 PM PT. After-hours issues are hard to resolve--my first driver scheduled a 4 PM pickup, never showed, ignored calls, and Sonic's office was closed, leaving me waiting helplessly. That was frustrating. But if you accept Sonic as a matching service and have a realistic budget, it works. I shipped my car from Woodland(95776) to Irvine(92618) in an enclosed, fully insured trailer for $800--a fair price (though far from the initial $450 estimate). Tips: Give them a timeframe (e.g., 08/01-08/07). They'll find drivers and relay quotes. Research typical rates, tell Sonic your target price, and they'll usually match it. If no driver accepts within your timeframe, your deposit is refundable. But if you cancel or reject a driver that meets your price within that window, you may lose the deposit. Would I use Sonic again? Yes, but with more schedule buffer--and I'd ask my agent to keep hunting for backup drivers until my car is physically picked up, to avoid no-show disasters. read more

Overall, the administrative work was done very well and I ensure a smooth pickup and delivery. Victory Wenzel did a great job working with me to ensure everything went off without a hitch. My only gripe is that they REALLY need to provide more realistic prices. The original price I was quoted was $1500 and when it came time for the pickup window they couldn't find a carrier to accept that price (I was quoted on average by others in the 2300-2800 range). My price eventually shot up to $2500 in order to get actually picked up. Just realized that the end price will likely be around what everyone else is charging as well. read more

Potential customers: ask the owner these questions before trusting this company with your vehicle. A transparent and ethical business owner should have no problem answering reasonable questions about how the company operates. If the owner avoids the questions, changes the subject, or refuses to explain the company's policies, potential customers can draw their own conclusions. Our experience involves my wife's Mercedes being transported from New Jersey to California. We are paying good money for professional cross-country vehicle transportation. The delivery estimate has changed repeatedly. Delays can happen because of traffic, weather, mechanical problems, routing, and other circumstances. The bigger problem for us has been communication and accountability. When we call asking where the Mercedes is, we have been told that the company will contact the driver and find out. On multiple occasions, we then did not receive the promised follow-up. We have also been told to communicate directly with the driver ourselves. That raises some very basic questions I believe the owner should answer publicly: 1. Are you simply a broker who finds a carrier, or do you take responsibility for managing the customer's shipment through delivery? 2. Once the vehicle has been picked up, does your company have a system for determining where it currently is? 3. If a customer calls asking for the location of their vehicle, can your office contact the carrier or dispatcher and obtain that information? 4. Why should a customer who paid your company have to repeatedly chase the truck driver for basic status information? 5. When an employee promises, "We will find out and call you back," what is your policy when that follow-up does not happen? 6. When an estimated delivery date changes multiple times, does your company proactively notify the customer? 7. Who is responsible for communicating with the customer--the broker, carrier, dispatcher, or driver? 8. If the driver does not answer, what process does your company have for locating the vehicle and obtaining an update? 9. Can customers receive the name, USDOT/MC information, and insurance information for the carrier actually transporting their vehicle? 10. What exactly does your brokerage service include after the vehicle has been picked up? 11. What system do you have to prevent customers from being left wondering where an expensive vehicle is while it is traveling thousands of miles across the country? 12. Most importantly, once you accept a customer's business and arrange transportation, what responsibility does your company accept for that customer until the vehicle is delivered? I am not asking the company to guarantee that transportation delays will never happen. That would be unreasonable. I am asking the owner to explain how his company handles communication, tracking, follow-up, and accountability when delays do happen. My wife entrusted this company with her Mercedes for transportation across the country. We expect reasonable status updates and professional communication--not repeated delivery changes followed by the customer having to chase the driver to find out what is happening. Before doing business with Sonic Auto Transportation, I recommend interviewing the company first. Ask these questions and let the owner answer them publicly. Then decide for yourself whether those answers represent the level of service and accountability you expect when someone is transporting one of your most valuable possessions across the country. read more

We purchased a vehicle from an auto dealership in OH, to ship to Orange County, CA. There was definitely a learning curve in the auto-transport process, but now understand why I read so many reviews about quoting one-price, then paying another: The auto broker quotes a price based on similar prior routes. Different brokers quote different prices, but they ALL go on a central board. Drivers look at the board, and decide which vehicles they want to pick up, depending on a variety of factors, such as demand, space, and route. Clearly, the lower the price, the least attractive your vehicle is to them. Original quotes to move our vehicle ranged from $1,100-$4,200 between different auto brokers. We accepted Sonic's quote of $1,350. After a week of waiting for a driver to pick up our vehicle at $1,350, I increased our price to $1,900. We waited a couple more days, and still no driver picked it up. It was then that I realized that we were never going to ship our car for $1,350. It wouldn't have done any good to switch to another broker, since they all use the same centralized system. I finally accepted a price of $2,500 to ship our car--$1,150 more than our originally quoted price. However, it's important to know that Sonic (or any auto broker) does not set the price. The market sets the price. You might get lucky and a driver wanting to fill his last spot might pick up your vehicle for a low price--but that wasn't our experience. In the end, we didn't pay the lowest of all the quotes, but we didn't pay the highest, either. As far as the shipping goes, they took detailed photos of every angle of the vehicle upon pickup, and upon dropoff. They sent me a copy of the auto transporter's Certificate of Insurance. No one stayed in contact with me, however everyone (broker and transport) always answered their phones when I wanted a status update. They were professional, and delivered our vehicle perfectly. Once we agreed on a price, that was the price. They charged us $650 on a credit card at the time of booking, and the rest was paid in cash, Venmo, Cashier's Check, or Zelle. There was never any question of the driver asking for more money, or any other questionable practice. Our vehicle was a Ford F-350 XL, so we wondered if there would be a delivery "surcharge" for gas or size, due to the weight and length. There wasn't. Once I understood that they didn't change the price on me, but rather use an under-bidding tactic to get my business, I didn't really blame them. I was going to pay $2,500 to ship my vehicle all-along, and I just had to understand the process. I would use Sonic again. Albert was patient with me, and I know that I was annoying with a million questions. Not sure that I would buy a car out-of-state again, but if I do, I would not hesitate to use Sonic. They did a great job. read more

I used sonic transport to transport my vehicle from Houston, Texas to Columbus Ohio. I book my reservation a week in advance. The day of pickup I received a text from the driver they used telling me he won't be able to deliver my car because 4 other back out(This was a Saturday). The dispatcher from sonic assured me that she was looking for another driver. So after finding the driver I was told I had to pay an additional cost from $680 to $1050.00. I accept it. New driver communication was on point. He informed me that my vehicle will be there Monday. Monday came and the driver stated my vehicle will be delivered between 8a and 11am. Around 10:15am I received a text stating he would be here in 15 minutes. I was so happy about the delivery and noticed my vehicle was already parked in Hampton Inn parking lot because I had to walked to him based on the hotel location I was staying in. The driver was very nice and considered. The driver took pictures and sent it to my email. Once after payment, I received my keys, I noticed scratch marks on my vehicle at the rear by my pipes on my dodge challenger scat-pack. I gave a rating of a 4 because of service getting my vehicle to me in Ohio but not the changed cost and scratches on the rear of my vehicle. read more

I was satisfied with the actual delivery of my vehicle, but I was extremely disappointed with my overall experience with Sonic Auto Transport because of the poor communication and last-minute price increase. I booked my vehicle transport nearly three months in advance for $1,050. Despite booking that far ahead, I received very little communication as my pickup date approached. I called numerous times the day before pickup trying to get an update, but I still did not receive clear communication about what was happening. Then, at the last minute, the price jumped from $1,050 to $2,400--an increase of $1,350. At that point, I had very limited time to find another company or make different arrangements. After booking almost three months in advance, I expected Sonic Auto Transport to have sufficient time to secure a driver at or reasonably close to the price I was originally quoted. My vehicle was ultimately picked up and delivered successfully, and I was satisfied with the delivery itself. However, that does not make up for the lack of communication and the significant last-minute price increase. The way everything happened left me feeling misled and taken advantage of. When a customer books months in advance based on a quoted price, they should not find themselves at the last minute being asked to pay more than double that amount with very few alternatives. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone considering Sonic Auto Transport ask detailed questions about whether the quoted price is guaranteed and what happens if they cannot find a driver at that price. Get everything in writing and make sure you understand the possibility of a significant price increase before your scheduled pickup date. read more

I needed a car shipped from a used car dealership in Florida to my home in Indiana. If you don't know how vehicle shipping works, here's a primer: You don't normally deal with the shipping company/driver directly. You work with a broker who will give you the estimated cost of the job. When you accept their "offer", you pay a small down payment ($100?) and the broker posts your job for that price on a website (Central Dispatch) that all the shipping companies look at. Hopefully, a company accept the job at the price that your broker posted. If the price is too low, the shipping company will contact the broker and tell them "We will do this job for 'X' dollars instead". If you have a shady broker, they will accept the job at the new, higher price and wash their hands of the whole situation. That's where you hear the horror stories of drivers arriving at customers' homes and telling them they owe hundreds of dollars more than what the customer originally agreed to. If you have a good broker, they will first contact you to let you know that the price has changed and ask if you will accept the new price. That is exactly what happened to me with Sonic Auto. My job manager, Harper Jade, initially said that he could get my car to Indiana for $700. He said the deposit would be $250 and I gave him my credit card info. He posted my job on Central Dispatch and then I immediately started getting text messages from shipping companies that said "We saw that you need to have your car shipped from Florida to Indiana. No company will accept the job at the price posted. We can transport your car for $1600. Is that OK?" Of course that was not OK so I told them all to pound sand. I was going to hold out for a better price. A few hours later, Harper called me and said that a company accepted the job for $750. He was very apologetic about the price increase (from $700 to $750), but that was the best he could negotiate with the shipping company. I was grateful that he was able to get a price close to the original estimate. However, I reminded him that I had a $50 off coupon for messaging Sonic Auto on their Instagram page. Harper said because I had the coupon, the price was back down to the original $700. The driver picked up my vehicle the next afternoon and it arrived a few days later. The only breakdown in communication was that when the driver arrived with the vehicle, he asked for more than the $450 I thought I owed ($700 minus the $250 deposit). He said he needed $600. Confused, I contacted Harper via text and immediately got a response. It turned out that Sonic Auto only charged me a $100 deposit instead of $250 (without telling me about the reduced deposit). That's why the driver was owed $600. Fortunately, I had enough cash on hand to pay the difference. read more

Bad Experience with the sonic Transport Service I had a very disappointing experience with this car transport service. When I booked the transportation, I was clearly told that if the delivery did not happen, I would only be charged a partial amount. However, I was charged $150, which was not what I understood from the initial conversation. On top of that, the service and communication were not satisfactory. Luke, who was handling my booking, was not responsive and did not communicate properly when I tried to get clarification about the charges and delivery. I expected better communication and transparency regarding the charges. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this service unless they improve their communication and clearly explain their cancellation and payment policies upfront. read more

SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM. On September 1st I ordered a transportation for September 19. Two days later, September 3rd, I cancelled the order. Now I am told I have to pay a $200 cancellation fee because they already got drivers. I know for a FACT they did not order drivers. Kyrie, the loser I'm working with, is unable to provide the DOT numbers and contact information with the driver. In fact he said he schedule 3 drivers. 3 drivers but he's unable to provide information on any of them. The contract states that the order will be assigned 5 days before the actual date. I'm not the best at math but I can tell you that September 19 is not anywhere close to September 3. I have cancelled WELL before the due date. This is absolutely ridiculous. read more

I have worked with Sonic 2 times. the second time I work with Cameron, he was absolutely the best broker! he helped negotiate the price with the driver, something you wont want to do it yourself. the car got pick up in the timeframe we discussed, the price was fluctuated a bit but within my budget because i know its the lowest i can go and other drivers have quoted way higher than Cameron, he also makes sure the price i will be charged align with his promise and i got some discount as returned customer. definitely work with him again in the future when i move back to california read more

I was charged more than double the amount quoted on the contract I signed. They did not explain this potential variability to me until after they had spent a prolonged period looking for a carrier and assuring me they would find someone at the quoted price. When they finally found a carrier, the price was more than double the quote. I was told this was "normal" and felt pressured to sign and pay immediately while on the phone. Despite this experience, I had no intention of leaving a negative review. However, starting about 30 seconds after I paid, I began receiving repeated text messages asking me to leave a review, including requests that I mention Robin Vazquez by name. The messages continued over the following weeks, and eventually months. I responded explaining that I was dissatisfied with the service, and why, and asked them to stop contacting me for a review. After receiving yet another request, I blocked the number. Several weeks later, I started receiving text messages from a different number, from someone introducing himself as Diego at Sonic Auto. He stated that they "... did not get any feedback from me about the delivery and our service..." I responded again with my concerns and again asked them to stop contacting me. I then received an email from Diego at Sonic with nearly the same message, stating they "did not receive any feedback" from me and asking me to provide it as soon as possible, even though I had already provided feedback multiple times by text to both Robin and Diego. The repeated requests for a review ultimately prompted me to write one. Based on my experience with the pricing, pressure to complete the transaction, and continued requests for a review despite my requests that they stop contacting me, I would not use Sonic Auto Care again and do not recommend them. read more

Our experience with this company was nothing but a frustrating waste of time. We were initially quoted $2,300 to ship our vehicle from California to Puerto Rico. They collected our personal information and assured us that price was locked in. We were also told we could transport up to 100 lbs. of personal belongings inside the vehicle. Unfortunately, none of that turned out to be true. After being connected with a representative named Christian, we were informed that the original quote and the information we had been given were incorrect. He then tried to charge us more than double the original price. After multiple back-and-forth conversations, we were still willing to move forward despite the price increase--only to be told they could no longer ship our vehicle at all. The entire process was full of misinformation, broken promises, and wasted time. If you're looking for a reliable company to ship your vehicle, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Bummer of a situation. Needed to transport car from NY to CA, so my dad starts helping me find possible shipping companies, that's how we found sonic. We were quoted 1200 to ship my packed car, everything goes through: deposit, text confirmation a few days before, etc. Morning of, I get a text from the driver telling me he can't pick up my car anymore due to a payment issue from another dealership. Frustrating, and if you're a planner or doing any type of major move it's even more so when you call the broker (in my case Fred) only for them to tell me they see now that they have a missed call from the driver. After I was told he was informed of the situation and working on it (if I hadn't called right away it wouldn't have been on the company's radar for who knows how long). Anyways, quote went from 1200 to 2000 with the idea that this new guy would be here the following day to pick up the car. What guarantees this dude shows up if the last guy could back out so easily? So much stress and hassle. Ended up looking elsewhere for last minute help. Do yourselves a favor and whatever dealership you got your car from, CALL THEM to see who they recommend for this stuff. We ended up asking Subaru for a recommendation, and sure enough car was picked up no issue. read more
