I applied, got the job as an Ophthalmic assistant/front desk support and my first couple of months were hell. I have years of optometry experience.
I'm fairly new to Ophthalmology & I stated that several times to Dr Ruhi Soni at my interview(s).
The Doctor/ owner, Soni Ruhi is very rude and Disrespectful, she shows no compassion whatsoever and if so, to a select few.
If you go to her to apologize for any situation that has taken place or to discuss any concerns dealing with the job behind close doors; she automatically yells, has a firm tone voice and or constantly shows signs of bipolar disorder.
An incident occurred In the mist of me communicating my concern
She says to me "I don't have the time to pacify" and continues to insult me by saying I pushed her into a corner to talk."
When all that I wanted and was expected out of my action is to calmly and respectfully discuss work concerns with the Doctor/owner of the company.
If you as the new employee have an issue with the lack of training, the lack of proper & efficient training that is supposed to be offered to you as the new employee.
Doctor Soni gets mad and makes it the new hires fault & states that you don't listen Because you're basically telling her that the office manager and I'm guessing lead tech that she has grown a special bond with
aren't properly training as they should.
Candace and Soni Ruhi wrote me up for numerous of things including something that I asked Diana about, Dr. Soni's scribe...regarding a diabetic patient.
As an experienced assistant/tech I knew what to do but in that office it's wrong if you do and wrong if you don't, they say don't go to another company repeating anything from the previous company you worked at. Learn the new companies protocols. Yes, agreed.
So I asked an 8+ year employee of Soni Vision Institute and she instructed me not to dilate the diabetic patient. Diana instructed me not do so in front of the patient herself.
I asked the employee because each staff member has stated to me that Doctor Soni and Doctor Reddy require different things performed and not performed on their Cataract eval, Glaucoma eval and Diabetic exam patients.
Which something's that I have been instructed not to do were completely different from what I know to do.
Doctor Soni then stated that I spent 30 minutes on a new patient that had a variety of diagnostic testings performed ; including reporting the patients medications/ocular history and visual acuity notation. Doctor Soni then complained that the Chief complaint was too long of a patient and that it only needs to be a few words.
That's not how I learned previously, I always knew that it would be helpful and important to ask the patient questions and be detailed for the Doctors knowledge before entering the exam room with the patient.
Again, properly and consistently training me on the doctor's likes and dislikes did not happen.
An error with a patients chart not getting pulled & put out ...causing the patient to wait longer than expected,
was pinned on me when I in fact was handling a phone call behind the two front desk ladies Krystal and Shawn the time of this incident.
The System showed that Shawn checked the patient in.
Minutes later I'm the employee that the patient saw and spoke to regarding his appointment.
I verified if the techs had the chart.
I noticed the patient sitting for a while, double checked the check in status, it still said " checked in", I remade the patients face sheet, put the folder up, notified a technician & finally got the patient seen by an assistant asap.
Candace and other employees proceeded to have discussions about the situation that took place. Everyone saw proof that I was not the employee that made that error but they wanted to find something(the new employee) to distract who was at fault ,which was Shawn or Krystal.
The office is constantly busy to the point where they don't extend proper training or to the point where the staff is always on their toes, damn near stepping on each others toes.
Candace the office manager and Kristie one of the doctors assistants get annoyed when you have questions & turn around and speak to you in an annoyed and disgusting manner.
Candace " tried changing" her disgusting behavior after having a discussion/ meeting with Dr. Soni and Candace regarding un-communicated complaints they had since Day 1 about me.
I expressed my concerns in that meeting and Doctor Soni hated to hear and unfairly disregarded every minute of me taking up for myself and holding myself accountable where it was due.
She unfairly wrote me up and a week and a half later wrongfully and with no reason fired me. read more
