Padak Chicken Sandwich
Andrielle G.

small menu; cozy vibes well done. i enjoy their matcha & chai lattes, one of the few cafes in the neighborhood with lavender syrup so i'm there often. the gochugaru fries were 'finished before first bite of sandwich' worthy. the padak sandwich was delicious, great layering of flavors in each bite. i'd order again.

Son um is a cool little spot founded by an excellent down to earth chef. The food was tasty and not too spicy. Throughly enjoyed the popcorn chicken even though I don't eat much fried foods. The chicken was super tasty as was the japche, kalbi and soup.

Great new Korean spot in the neighborhood! Sonbul is open at Burly coffee shop on Throop near DeKalb from 5-10pm, Wed-Sat. Food, drink, k-pop MVs playing on a projector screen... feels like a bit of K-town in Bed-Stuy. I got some soy garlic wings and they were excellent, the owner said he's continuing to expand the menu and I'm looking forward to trying more!

HELL YES. Sonbul has fully taken over Burly and now offers a breakfast menu - at least on weekends. The Korean breakfast burrito was absolutely delicious and is going to be my new go to breakfast on the weekends! Delicious scrambled eggs with shredded veggies, tater tots (!!!), and kimchi. Hell yeah. Excited for the addition of breakfast to Sonbul's amazing dinner menu. Highly recommend the Japchae, Kinmari, the Korean Cheesesteak (I don't eat red meat and even I eat this on occasion), and of course the epic Korean fried chicken.

Pan Fried Dumps - A close-up image shows a grilled dumpling topped with sliced green onions on a rectangular plate. The dumpling has a crispy, browned exterior, and the green onions add a fresh touch. In the background, a green bowl and other food items are visible but out of focus, suggesting a dining setting with Korean-inspired dishes.

This place makes everything with love. Every dish is curated so elegantly and I'm happy to experience these explosions of flavors and textures. I highly recommend stopping in -WøLFÈ (TheMoodyFoody)

Assorted Banchan Japchae (Vegan) - The image shows a wooden table with a large bowl of noodle salad topped with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Next to it is a rectangular white plate holding three small side dishes: kimchi, bean sprouts, and cucumber salad. An empty decorative plate and a glass of water are also visible, with a person in a pink sweater and a smartphone in the background.

If you're craving authentic and delicious Korean food in Brooklyn- you have to come here! The food is incredible, servings are large, food is very much worth the prices, and the service is great!

The food was delicious, I will definitely return. There was no line to order when I arrived, but we were directed to order at a kiosk since they were short staffed up front. The young man at the counter was very busy but kind and I could see the workers in the kitchen working hard as well. The ambiance was typical for a fast casual restaurant. Some people grabbing takeout orders, delivery app workers doing pickups, and dine in patrons at tables. There were seating options for couples as well as groups. I definitely do recommend and will return next time I'm in the area.

( I also ordered tea) I tried again with some friends. Today was the first time I've been inside and actually sat down. Once you order, they ask for your name and then serve your table by calling your name. It's cute. As for the food... I ordered the fried chicken with potato salad, dressing and cornbread and peach cobbler. My chicken looked good, but tasted a little dry. Maybe it was just being under a light for a bit. I visited in the evening. Who knows? My potato salad was a bit bland, and I was hoping for some pickle relish mixed in. (If you know, you know.) I'm not a fan of cobbler, but I thought I'd give it a shot. They also had apple cobbler, which I should have stuck with. I can't tell you how the cornbread dressing was. When I got home they forgot to pack it. I don't think I'll be back, but it's a nice place to sit and chat with others while they enjoy their meals.

WOW WOW WOW!!! I…read moreloved almost everything! My cosmo was on the tart side of flavor, but a bit of simple syrup helped balance that. As far as food, NOTHING disappointed. The Confit mushroom toast was delicious. Salty, but flavorful. I didn't like poached eggs until I had this starter, because they did it right. The Sunday Pancakes were beautiful! A bit crispy but almost sponge/fluffy soft inside. The hazelnut maple praline was not too sweet. I'd recommend eating it as soon as it arrives at the table. The Sunday burger was great as well. We added avocado & chose sausage. I'm not a sausage gal, but I actually liked this sausage very much. My friend order a bloody, & there has not been a restaurant that I've ever said they make good bloodies, but this bloody was IT! I was impressed! Loved it. Service was great. Our server cared about me liking my drink, and was very kind and attentive. Understandably so a Michelin restaurant for one of the best places for brunch! I without a doubt plan on coming here again!

I usually get savory then have pancakes so a single is perfect for me! The hazelnut syrup is amazing and the texture of the pancake is perfect. No notes! Have never tried any that have a similar taste palette. The closest I would compare to would be Golden Diner but they're still oh so different. I got hash browns as well..crisped up rectangular hash brown made from frozen. So disappointing..I was hoping for real freshly made ones. They tasted like the oil they were cooked in so I had to doze with them with sauces. Their ice tea is on point! Fragrant earl grey.. so good. And overall I appreciate the range of n/a drinks. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the service is great. A little slow but they still take care of you with a smile and I appreciate that!

This was some of the best fried fish I've had, if we're talking about just the fish itself. The breading is solid - going with a hot level of spice meant there was a good amount of seasoning on top, but I wouldn't classify it as spicy. It was crunchy at points, but missing the flakiness and true crunch I'd associated with top-tier fried fish. However, where it makes up for this is how good the inside of the fish is. This was spectacular - crazy moist, super tender, and just tasted fantastic. The complete opposite of that rubbery texture you get when you overfry the fish. The sauce that came with the fish was a little bland, however As for the sides, I thought the mac and cheese was really good - cheesy, slightly crispy on top, and cooked very well. I also liked the grits - though a bit buttery. The fries were a miss though. For the price, I think around 25 for the meal and a side is a solid deal. The sides especially come with pretty large portion size that will leave you very full. Overall, this is very good Southern food that I certainly enjoyed. 8.5/10

I liked the chicken but I personally wouldn't pay for it again. The best tasting part of the meal was the cornbread but you barely get any of it. I liked the mac and cheese as the best value of the entire order. To caveat this, we did order out, so I'd like to return and update my review soon with a dine-in test. The takeout takes quite a long while and it's pretty cramped inside the actual restaurant especially to wait, so I'd highly recommend ordering ahead of time online.

As soon as you walk in, you can smell the amazing dishes and you can literally feel the love they put on each plate as they serve the guests. I almost don't want to share this review for fear that the line may get longer but this restaurant is now one of the few that I recommend you go out of your way to try and enjoy. Their menu is classically simple but made with an abundance of care and no shortcuts in their cooking. As you are seated you are welcome to place your order in the front of the glass display, they cook everything in house and sometimes they run out of the specials so don't sleep on getting there on time. We ended up getting their lunch specials and picked one main and two sides. I know my girl loves Ox Tails and ended up getting the last plate with some candied yams and Mac and cheese. Let me tell you, we cleaned the plate and it was finger licking good!!! The jerk ribs were amazingly tender and fall off the bone. All of the sides were well portioned and absolutely flawless. Don't come here if you're on a diet there is only one way to enjoy this restaurant and it's to just dive in. FYI - you will need a nap after your meal. This place just hits your tastebuds differently; it doesn't just leave an impression, its mind shattering good. You will sing after the meal - happy dancing the whole time as you're eating.

I wanted to love it so much especially since TikTok critic/MMA fighter Keith Lee visited them in 2023, but my experience was not like his. I want to say that online reviews are almost about accurate. They were out of cold salads and collard greens which was an issue for other customers at times as well. No problem, they were super helpful and offered an alternative but not a good one. I had steamed vegetables that mashed in my mouth like mashed potatoes when I took a bite. I did end up going to another spot for collard greens and potato salad because you can't have soul-food without that. I had the rib dinner with mac n cheese and yams and a tiny piece of complimentary cornbread. The ribs definitely taste amazing but they don't take off the membrane in the back which is slimy and gross. I left that part behind. The yams were sweet and good BUT.....that mac n cheese is NOT soul-food Mac n cheese. Here's the thing I figured out, they use such little cheese but season the noodles very well that you don't truly notice unless you love mac n cheese, which I do, so I noticed it lacked so much cheese but had seasoned noodles. The rib dinner was a 3/5 because ribs were great but sides needed help. I had rice and peas as an additional side and fried wings. The wings were ATROCIOUS! I ate the smallest one and didn't eat the rest. How can you serve such huge feathered wings like that? It was a nightmare. The feathers being on it turned me off. This tells me they don't make their food with care, they move quick to be one and done and I want my food cooked with love and care. They were also frozen wings that were thawed and seasoned, I know the difference. The rice and peas were okay 3/5 as well. Overall the food was not worth the hype. Customer service was beautiful for sure but the food was not it.

Home is where the heart is and there is nothing quite like a home cooked meal. I have to say most Bay Ridgians enjoy dining local and in our neighborhood. I love to support neighborhood gems because majority of restaurant owners here, love their clients, establish loyalty through cooking delicious food and provide consistent great customer service. I was in the mood for a " comfort food"breakfast, you know, eggs, avocado, mozzarella, tomato, deliciousness and I found it on the menu simply named "Breakfast Sandwich". Which consists of voila: Mozzarella, avocado, tomato jam, arugula, crispy bacon, dijonaise, sunny side up egg between multigrain toasts. I ordered this sans the bacon ( requested turkey bacon which they do not have). What arrived in my plate was this decadent open faced egg sandwich that looked delectable.. and was!! Let's first talk about the wheat toast: I tasted it naked and it simply melted in my mouth. The ingredients worked well together, perfect synchronicity. I used one half of the toast to sop up any fallen ingredients. Highly recommend! For a drink, I wanted something a bit different, thus, ordered the Mango Mint Peach tea, fruity with a hint of mint. Loved it and went well with the Sammy! There are lovely options besides breakfast sandwiches like quinoa, oatmeal, granola, pancakes, French toast.. breakfast is served all day and lunch is served @noon. I arrived before 12 and was told I can order breakfast or lunch. It has a cozy, intimate vibe which I love.. one where you can dine solo, or do work or read or just enjoy the fabulous food. I will make "The Common" my home away from home. Additionally, there are cooking classes in their Park Slope location; the courses look great: Italian feast, Moroccan cooking, Wine Pairing and many more. Check out their website for more info. I got lucky one night when there was no line & my girlfriend and I got a seat. To start off, the ambiance is rock solid, they got the classic old school American/ New York look. Beautiful lights, a sky line art work, comfy leather seats, and you can scribble on the table I love it. Staff & service are also amazing, there very attentive, respectful, friendly and the service is great, they do a great job in both of these aspects. However, their food is lacking. It's a very small menu, we ordered their burger, clams, wedge salad and Sunday. All of the items were fine, I personally didn't like the clams, I felt they were too dry, the burger was good but nothing you can't get anywhere else. The salad and Sunday weren't worth it. However, what was very disappointing, I believe they cook using cheap oils, because after our meal, my girlfriend & I just felt really bad in our stomach. I really wish this place well and hope they last, but the hype is way too high and I think they need to switch the oil and quality of their ingredients.
