4.5 stars here. Sonas means happiness in Gaelic. Appropriate. What a wonderful meal. A gourmet experience in a lovely space on Fort William High Street. Even at the size of this restaurant, it felt very intimate. The menu is a smallish, focused group of starters and entrees plus desserts. Our hostess and server were very gracious and handled our questions personably. My DW loves a good bruschetta to start and the one offered here was right up our alley. The tomatoes had so much more flavor than the majority we have eaten in Scotland. The addition of whipped feta created a layer of flavor we felt was outstanding. Another note-the breads here and in Scotland in general have been wonderful.
A daily special board was prominent on arrival and both our entrée choices came from that list for us. My pick was a trio of Venison Sausage atop a cloud of Mashed Potatoes and served with a "beef" gravy that was reminiscent of a holiday roast meal. The sausage was wonderfully herby. Loved every bite. The other entrée pick was the Smoked Salmon Pasta. Penne pasta cooked to an ideal al dente. The sauce and the salmon were delicious if a bit salty. My DW would usually have had some left to take home after a dish like this but there was none of that today. Very enjoyable.
