This town is a stop for us on the West Highland Way. This restaurant was recommended, my many, over the others in town. We got here just before 1600 on a Thursday. There were several people already sat inside and out but we were still greeted and sat immediately. The staff is friendly. Go to your table. Review the menu. When you decide you go to the counter to order. Be sure to not your table number before going up. They will bring it out to you. Be sure to eye all the delectable cake options while in line. The first restaurant we have ate at while in Scotland that wasn't more of a pub. The fish was light and flakey. The batter was crispy and not overly seasoned. Think along the lines of shake and bake. Which I like. The loaded fries were great. Thick cut, freshly cooked fries with some veggies, bacon, jalapeños, and cheese. They have THE softest grain bread you will ever try. (Debatable)

Decent veggie curry and an actual salad- a rarity on the West Highland Way. Outdoor seating. Was busy on Saturday in early June.

Great dinner - amazing location…read more We were staying in one of the self-catering apartments of this Hotel. Location is great - just sitting at the lovely and quiet Loch Awe. The first night we were a bit tired from the drive and didn't feel like cooking, so we visited the restaurant. It's nice and bright with great views of the Loch. Service was very friendly. We had the Goat's Cheese Salad (Grilled Goat's cheese served with roasted peppers, salad leaves, soda bread and raspberry balsamic dressing) and the Haggis Bon Bons (Crispy Haggis balls set on roasted tomato and chili chutney served with salad garnish) for a starter. Both equally good, but especially the Bon Bons were a pleasant surprise, good tasting Haggis! For the mains we had the Salmon with veggies and potatoes (daily special) and the Traditional Fish & Chips (haddock served in a beer batter served with chunky chips, peas and Tartar sauce). Both fish tasted very fresh and tender. Hot and crispy chips. With that we had a bottle of White wine, a Sauvignon Blanc Panul from the Lontué Valley, Chile. Fresh, fruity and crisp. Just 18£. We really had a great dinner. Good, fresh food for very fair prices, especially given the fantastic location. If you just come for dinner without staying here, the way back on the one-way street might be a bit dark. Luckily our way home was just a few steps :)

I ordered the mixed seafood platter, large portions and well-prepared. A nice wine list, too. We were very satisfied with our choice for dinner. Ya know, it's funny. I looked for an open restaurant as I came back into Oban on the ferry. It gave…read moreme a few choices, one of which sounded good: Oban Fish & Chips. Except I walked over there and found nothing, just open waterfront. Whoops. Fortunately, I walked right past this other open restaurant that also had fish & chips at a reasonable price, and more importantly, HAGGIS! I can tell you now, they should rename to Fish, Chips, and Haggis. Because this fried haggis sausage is da bomb. I think when they named that one sandwich "da bomb", they were wrong. It's this. Delicious haggis, perfectly deep fried, just the right amount of breading. Classic, timeless, Scotland. The dinner includes plenty of chips, light fried, not dripping with oil - some of the best I've ever had. So get that, not the single. In the end, the only downside is it's takeout-only. No room inside. Great service, great selection, great food. Do stop in when you come to Oban to head out to the wonderful North West isles. (Do all of this. Trust me. It's wonderful here.)
