Service was ok,quick to the point they got me in and out within five minutes. Just dont expect it with a smile and know what you want they dont really seem to like answering questions. Their quality is solid, and their prices seem inflation-resistant, which is incredible. The service is always standard. I definitely feel bad for the high schoolers working there dealing with super long lines. There's a good amount of outdoor seating, but be prepared to wait a bit to order. I really like their fresh taiyaki - they make it right in front of you, so it's served piping hot. You can also choose from a variety of fillings. The soft serve is delicious (and lactose free!). I enjoy their classic ube and matcha flavors. The most recent time I visited, I tried the sakura berry soft serve, which wasn't my favorite. Came on a hot Sunday around 2pm and SomiSomi was packed. It's located in a large food plaza with plenty of parking thanks to nearby garages. The shop itself is pretty small and more of a grab-and-go spot, but there's outdoor seating close by. I have not had SomiSomi in a really long time, and I really liked that they rotate their flavors. I ordered: -Matcha and sakura berry swirl with an upside-down ahboong and custard filling: soft serve was smooth and creamy. The matcha was solid, not too bitter with a nice level of sweetness. The standout for me was the sakura berry. It wasn't overly floral and blended really well with the strawberry flavor. I usually don't go for floral desserts, but I'd definitely get this one again. 5/5. Service was friendly, and they were clearly working hard to keep up with the crowd. Also decided to try the taiyaki -which are fish shaped pancakes with filling. - we chose to have Nutella and custard. They were made to order so there's a bit of a wait. The Taiyaki with Nutella was delicious - crisp on the outside and oozing with Nutella on the inside. We also had one with custard filling. The flavor of the custard was a bit disappointing in comparison to the Nutella. There's also other filling choices like red bean, matcha and a few others I can't remember. The choice of ice cream also came with a hollowed out Taiyaki on top. Really cool idea. There are tables outside to sit on a nice day. The staff at Somi Somi were friendly. This Somisomi review is long overdue. Been frequenting this spot for Asian ice cream since the first time they've opened. Nowadays, I'm not the biggest ice cream person, however, last month, I had the hugest craving for matcha soft serve and they did not disappoint! My favorite thing is that they're not too sweet, so it's perfect for an Asian sweet treat. I got an upside down Ahboong with a matcha custard + matcha soft serve and extra matcha powder on top. I really like the upside down ahboong which has a filled Taiyaki placed on top of your soft serve. On the day that we came, they offered 4 different flavors (Cookies n Cream, Matcha, Ube and Banana Pudding) and 2 swirls (Cookes n Cream + Matcha, Ube + Banana Pudding). They used to offer a Black Sesame flavor which I liked a lot and hope that they'll bring back next time I come, but I ended up choosing the plain Ube flavor. For fillings, my go to is always either Custard or Red Bean. The combination of having soft serve and then following with a bite of taiyaki is so amazing. There are plenty of restaurants in the area so you can just walk over here for a nice treat. You walk in and order at the counter. They have only a few options to choose from. You can order the *special fish shaped waffle cone* called Ah-boong plain or with filling. They have standard flavors like cookied and cream (our favorite!) but they also have new seasonal flavors that get swapped out with every season. Currently they have a *cookies and cream and peaches* and it is THE BEST FLAVOR! I usually stick to the traditional ones but this one knocked it out of the park! You can also add toppings on top for no extra charge like rainbow sprinkles or cookie crumbles which Is such a nice touch. Be wary as this place does get super packed especially on weekends and late nights but the line goes super fast and you won't be waiting too long. Bonus they have kid entertainment where you can watch them make the waffle while you wait! It's a sure highlight! The staff there are super nice and friendly too. This is THE spot for kids if you're looking to take them on a special treat. It's worth the drive JUST to come here too. It's so delicious and very filling! The ice cream I ordered was a matcha and milk combo, Ah-boong style, which is a fish shaped waffle cone. For the ah-boong, you can choose from a selection of fillings for your cone, such as custard. I believe that this location was the first to open in the Bay Area! The line use to be really long, but now it's quicker. Was able to stop in during the Seventeen 'Right Now' Tour collab with Somi Somi and try their limited flavor: Honeydew. Limited quantities of stickers and a postcard of Seventeen was included with purchase. This location in particular tends to be more crowded, but always a hit. Whether looking for a drink, soft serve or freshly made to order taiyaki. Got the Honeydew and it tasted exactly like Binggrae's Melona which ... if you know, you know. Refreshing, sweet, and creamy. I did not opt for any toppings but like that Somi Somi does offer with your swirls. They also are currently swirling their Sweet Corn which tastes exactly like canned corn or your typical Asian corn based desserts. Though may be off putting to some, I think tastes pretty good and is an uncommon flavor to find. Service was quick which is great for something time sensitive such as ice cream. Taiyaki can take more time, so just be sure to stand ear shot for your order when it is ready. Lines do build up quickly out the door to order. There is no seating available indoors. read more

I'm always pleasantly surprised when I make my occasional visit to Somi Somi :') They post their weekly and seasonal flavors on their Instagram account so I visit when a flavor of interest is nearby. My bf and I recently tried their dalgona (limited edition for Squid Game Season 3 promos) and cookies and cream swirl in a cup (I skip the ah-bong bc it makes me too full). The cookies and cream flavor was surprisingly actually so good and was our fav between the two flavors. I'm so glad I got the swirl lol bc the dalgona flavor was not impressive (?) nor memorable. We also finally tried some taiyaki today, which were also surprisingly good! The texture of the batter was pleasantly chewy and light. This is my 2nd visit to Somisomi. The first time I didn't like it as I am used to having sweeter ice cream. But this time I added oreo crumbs and rainbow sprinkles as toppings and this was a gamechanger for me as it made the ice cream a little sweeter. I loved it. I ordered the matcha/ube mix in Ah Boong style. I recommend getting the soft serve in a Ah Boong or a upside down. It does make the ice cream better. This place is usually crowded especially during late evening hours. I went at 4 pm on a Saturday. I had to wait 10-15 minutes in the queue but the wait was worth it. SO good! I don't even have a sweet tooth but this place is amazing. Seasonal flavors! The ice cream is super creamy and not too sweet. The fish pastry is freshly made, warm and soft. My favorite part! I usually fill the fish with custard. Free toppings! Looks can be deceiving - this dessert may look normal-sized but it is filling so I usually split one with my husband. The line can be hit or miss... but moves fairly quickly. Worth it for the freshly made pastry! We waited for about 10+ min and in between a worker said through the curtain from sul & beans that he'd be with us shortly. We walked in on Saturday afternoon and there was one person working both this counter and the next door store whatever that was. She disappeared for over ten minutes while the taiyaki stoves were beeping they were done, and when she got back they were all burnt. Then she disappeared again for over five minutes before coming back to take orders.
