The woman working when I picked it up was lovely. Very friendly. But the alterations... oooof. If I wanted them to be a disaster I would have done them myself and what he did: I COULD have done myself. He basically just folded the extra lace over and sewed it. And you can see it! And he had to reinforce the cups to the dress and there was a gap/hole (that I had to fix myself). I tried to take a couple photos- but just go somewhere else. Save yourself the heartbreak

One i still can use, she told me to buy a new one and come back to redo it, no thanks, I'll take the one that i think i can use. She kept one shirt i kept the other at no charge. Why Griselda? Why? Have you been touched by the glitz of Yelp and you don't want to sew anymore? Whatever the reason you have lost respect and at least one customer.

An update. Griselda is doing so well she has now moved into her own space. She's not sharing with a…read morehair salon any more! Griselda is a hidden gem. The quality of her work is very very good. You won't even know the item has been tailored when she is done. You need an original hem on jeans? - she is the best I've been to so far. You need a suit to hug you just right? She's the woman. She must have the eyes of a hawk to get those seams to line up so perfectly! Griselda used to work for Nordstrom's tailoring - and you'll see her awards up on the wall. So I definitely am a fan of the quality of Griselda's work, and if by chance something isn't quite right she will gladly fix it - often times on the spot while you wait! But, there are a couple of caveats to using her. First, be explicit about what you want. She has a little bit of an accent and sometimes I find her a little difficult to understand. There were a couple of times she had to re-do items. Forgot to keep the cuff one time, needed to shorten something just a little bit more. But like I said she will gladly fix - and often on the spot while you wait. BTW watching her take it apart and fix it in a matter of minutes is fascinating! But I should also mention that I am unusually short and petite and I tend to take in a dozen or more items at a time - so instructions sometimes get confused between items. Also, most tailors underestimate how small I am. I think the general rule is to ere on the side of a little big. For me, it's not uncommon after the work is done that just a bit more needs to be taken up or taken in. So if you are just taking one item in every once in awhile - then you can disregard this comment. She's a one man-shop (maybe not literally, but pretty much), and she literally shares space with a hair salon. They kind of blocked off this room, where she works from. It is a separate space with a storage area for her tailoring, sewing machines and a small changing room. It's not as weird as it sounds - but I was a little confused the first time I went. Her hours are 9-4 M-F and 9-6 Sat. I've only gone to her on Saturdays - and her hours on Sat are a little "fluid". I think M-F she is a little more stable, but definitely call her before you head over there on a Sat - there have been times that she was not open or was doing a half day. But if she isn't there that day, she'll offer to meet you at a schedule time if she can. Did I mention one-man shop? Basically, you almost feel like you are going to your friend's mom who happens to be a tailor. (Griselda has met me on a Saturday while getting ready for a wedding with big rollers in her hair. haha!) But instead of meeting at her house, you meet at a hair salon. As shady as this sounds I promise you it isn't. She does terrific work. Because I am so small and short (no I'm not a "little person" but pretty darn close), I am always on the hunt for good tailors. Griselda was the 3rd tailor I tried in Sacramento before I was satisfied. Why not 5 stars? Because no one compares to my hometown favorite Timmy the Taylor in Boston.

I attended my aunt's funeral a few weeks ago…read more I didn't realize how much weight I had lost. The black blazer I had bought a year ago and wore only once didn't fit me any longer. I needed it altered in less than 2 days. Instead of altering which would've taken days, I decided to add buttons so it didn't look so big. Elena was wonderful. She made it look perfect on me as if it was tailored for me. She was so professional, understanding, friendly and such a joy to work with her. I highly recommend her. Sure it's a little bit pricier, but it's a premium that I'm willing to pay for the service I get (they're driving to and from you!). I've had coats, dresses, and even traditional Indian wear handled by them, and each time it's been delivered cleanly and efficiently. The one time there was a delivery hiccup, it was resolved and addressed quickly. They also have a great web interface to keep you updated on progress. Overall I'd recommend this service if it fits your needs!

I took my wedding dress here that needed quite a lot of work done to it. I bought it off the rack,…read moreso it needed to get fitted to my body. On top of that, there were holes in the mesh back from previous people trying it on, that required repair. Jenny worked on my dress for about 3 months, and she did an amazing job. The dress fit perfectly in the end, and she fixed the back with such perfection, you couldn't even tell that a repair had been made. The front area of my dress was pretty tricky due to all of the beading and it being so large on me, but Jenny has such talent, that she was able to do her magic and make it work. One thing I appreciated is that when she took the sides of the dress it, she did not cut any fabric away, only overlapped it. So, in the off chance that I needed the dress to be adjusted again closer to my wedding date, she would be able to fix it. Jenny is truly so talented, I am so happy I took my dress here!

I had the worst experience with the daughter of Village Cleaners in my 40 years of taking my…read moreclothes to a cleaners establishment. I moved to a different city and drove 45 minutes to my cleaners of many years and decided to try a cleaners closer to my home. I took my clothes to Village Cleaners, 2709 Marconi Ave, and spent around $300 end of last year and no issues. I took clothes back in May and spent $450. My jackets were discolored. I took two jackets back and spoke to the owner and asked if anything could be done for the color. I believe due to the language barrier the owner ask their daughter, Yum to called me. Yum called me Friday afternoon, asked about the jackets, did my closet have any sunlight (my closet do not have sunlight or windows), how old were my jackets (I have had my jackets many years and 100% cleaners serviced and no discoloration or issues) and spoke of how clothes bleed. She assured me that they valued their customers and want to make it right and offered me solutions. I texted her a picture of the jacket which I wore to my husbands funeral and a picture of the shorts to the red jacket (I texted her a picture of my green jacket that was discolored and another suit jacket missing a button that I asked nothing of her in return). I shared with Yum, I would like to go with restoring the color and asked what did she think. She agree that dying the two jackets is a good option and asked me to bring the jackets back and allow two weeks. I shared with Yum that the jackets were currently at the cleaners. I received a telephone call from Yum Saturday morning and she told me that they were willing to help me but decided to give me $29.00 for the cleaning charges. She said that I was trying to take advantage of their kindness. I was the type of person given an inch and I take a mile with kindness. In many words she told me I was being deceitful and wanted more than what was deserving. I said excuse me, Yum (I missed pronounced her name and very nasty she said that is not my name), I said ma'am how dare you have the audacity to call me and try to discredit my integrity. She became combative, unprofessional and very argumentative. I told her I was going to pray for her and her evil intensions. Yum became more unprofessional, disrespect and her demeanor was despicable. I told her I do not have to continue this abusive conversation, I spent almost $800 in two visits with your cleaners and I am trying to take advantage of you! I told Yum I am going to end this conversation and I disconnected the call. I texted her to let her know I will meet her and pick up my jackets by 1pm. I called before heading to the cleaners, her father said she was not there and asked that I call his daughter. I called, left a voice message and asked Yum to call me from a different number than hers, leave a voice message when she will be at the cleaners and I will come pick up my jackets. I have heard nothing back from Yum at this time

I have to say this is my worst experience with a place like this. I was referred here by a coworker…read moreof mine in which I trusted and it turned out bad for me. I brought my husbands shorts here which are True Religion (pretty expensive clothing if you are familiar with the brand). There was some stitching that had come undone on the design on one of the pockets, 2 areas where the pockets were separating from the shorts, and about a 1/2 inch hole in the crotch area of the shorts (these are sweat material shorts). The lady was very nice and welcoming when we arrived. When we asked if they were able to fix these shorts, the lady assured us that she was able to do anything. However, 3 days later when we picked the shorts up, we were anything but pleased with the results..... So the 2 areas where the pockets were separating from the shorts: the lady completely ignored these! She stated that was an extra price and I never mentioned this area. (This is false, I showed this to her and I paid for this already prior to the work being done) The design on the pocket: the lady used a different method of stitching that doesnt match what is already in the design and it turned out horrible. The lady also got out of the line with her machine and messed up the whole pattern of the design as well. (You can see my pictures of this) The 1/2 in hole in the shorts: the lady used a huge patch on the inside of the shorts that is hanging loose on the inside and much larger than the hole even was. She also went crazy with the stitching in all different directions and made a huge ugly mess on the outside of the shorts. I would have rather had this place be honest with me and turn down my business, than to completely destroy my clothing that I had brought to them and trusted them with. By all means-even if a place is much more expensive-----it is worth it!!! Turn the other way and run from here. If you care about your clothing, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!!!

I took and chance ran in, hoping that someone might have time go repair the backpack.The owner stopped what she was doing , took the backpack and started looking for thread to match the backpack. Within minutes she was done. She not only charged me a small price but gave me. Small backpack for my 4 year old granddaughter.
