My visit was on 10/22/23 around 8pm. I placed my order via the Someburros app at 7:58pm for pickup- the app advised a 10-15 min wait, ok cool no problem. However, when I pulled into the drive thru line 10-15mins later and told them I was there to pickup my mobile order, they then still made me wait an EXTRA 10-15mins behind someone who placed their order and then SAT at the pickup window the entire time while their order was being made, meanwhile my food that was already ready&they knew this, was sitting there, so I ended up getting my order that had been placed far before this person- AFTER this person, because instead of the cashier telling the car in front of me that there was an entire line behind them and to pull forward or pull back around- they kept me and everybody else waiting. The pickup window is for picking up, not for sitting there for the entire 20 mins your order is taking to be made while u let everyone else's food behind you get cold when you JUST ordered. The cashier apologized for the wait which I asked why on earth wasn't the person in front of me told to pull forward if they had JUST placed their order and were gonna have to wait 10-15 mins when my food was already ready? I said is my food even hot now? I wasn't rude to her but I felt that this is common sense considering I worked in fast food for many many years, so the training being provided to the employees is clearly lacking. I will say that the cashier DID offer to remake it, its not that she didn't attempt to offer a solution, she was professional- but I wasn't then gonna wait ANOTHER 10-15 mins to have my food remade. I felt the bottom of the food plate to ensure it was still decently warm. I know this is a first world problem, but this experience was pretty sub par customer service in comparison to all my other visits to someburros- like seriously unless you're the only car in line why are you allowed to sit at the window for 20 mins while they make your food and let everyone else who ordered way before you to get sub par warm food, unaware much? And its on the restaurant for not asking that car to pull back around after their order was taken- it wasnt even just me behind them in line! there were like two-3 other cars behind me, good lord. If im paying $22 for one meal for myself can I at least get it hot&in a timely manner? I placed my order a good 20 mins before the person in front of me, food was barely warm by the time I got home, sat down actually able to eat it and I live around the corner. Bad service. read more

Do not get the salads!!! 1) The salads come in a "taco shell". I'm not sure if it's supposed to actually be edible or not but it tastes horrible. I mean, really bad. It tastes like how my dog smells sometimes when they need a bath. I have no idea how they accomplish this feat but this is not the first time I've ordered a fried taco shell that tasted like dirty dog hair. I experienced it at another location. I dont know what oil they use but its bizarre. If it's a ploy to keep people from eating the undeniably unhealthy taco shell, consider it mission accomplished. 2) The price is insane for the quality of ingredients. It's about 10 dollars for what I'm 98 percent certain is just Dole Salad Kits thrown in a bowl with their shredded chicken. 3) The shredded chicken: I know the salad is suppose be a healthy option but does that mean the chicken has to be entirely devoid of flavor and seasoning? I will say that the quality of the chicken was arguably better than most fast food chains but it was still helplessly plain and bland. 4)Its supposed to be a chicken avocado salad, but I only saw two slices of avocado. No thank you. If you want a fast, relatively "healthy" option from an inexpensive chain, try el pollo locos bowls. Cheaper and much more flavorful. read more

I was pretty frustrated when I went to the football game and they announced that when we present our ticket at this location we receive a free burrito, and once we arrived the manager Desiree seemed lost. Within minutes the restaurant was packed and they were incredibly unprepared. As student we have to present our tickets at the football game, via Apple wallet so we didn't have a printed ticket and the manager wouldn't honor our tickets for the special. The food is okay, definitely nothing close to authentic Mexican food. I found it ridiculous when I asked what came in a shredded chicken burrito and come to find out that what they consider a shredded chicken burrito is JUST shredded wrapped in a flour tortilla. You have to order online or by phone, then you pick up at the "drive thru," so it saves you a trip to go inside. Once you franchise, authenticity tends to strain. I've never been more disappointed with a restaurant before. I ordered the Rod Burro to go and I basically got a soup. The burrito was just swimming in sauce and everything, including the side of lettuce and tomatoes, was soggy. Not only that, but I found two very long hairs in my burrito. When this location opened we gave them a few tries and after giving it a miss for awhile due to Incorrect orders, I tried again today but NOPE. They nearly forgot our drinks but I reminded them. While the guy got the drinks I checked the order, but missed that one of the combos was missing. Went back and they replaced it, but got home and realized the tacos were all the wrong flavors! It's Somburros. It's a staple of Tempe dining. And it's really good food for the price. Fresh, whole ingredients and generous portions means that you will feel full but not gross after eating here. On a whim, a coworker and I came by for dinner upon recommendations and I was very pleasantly surprised! It's not difficult to find a mom and pop hole in the wall with good Mexican food in Phoenix, but this place rivals any of those that I've been to! My friend had the Pollo Fundido and I had the Poncho Villa - came with chips and salsa of course. The flavor of mine was smoky, but not overdone. It was a red chili burro covered in red sauce and cheese with sour cream and guac on the side. It was delicious! This is my first Yelp review ever, but I felt inclined to do so because the experience was so horrible. First off, when I walked in, I was the first in line of 4 other guests. We were not greeted/no one was at the counter for at least 3 minutes, which typically would be fine. However, the 4 customers in line were the only 4 in the restaurant so not sure what all the employees were so preoccupied doing. Once I had ordered, I was the last in the group to get my food, despite being the first to order after about 20 minutes (for reference, I had 3 orders of rolled tacos and a taco salad). I think this had to do with the fact that every cook was moving extremely slow. BUT I wanted to add that while I was watching my food get packed up at a glacial pace, the manager/shift supervisor was packing my bag, and STOPPED for about 3 minutes to watch a Facebook video on his coworkers phone as I watched and waited for my food. I mean, c'mon? If you are going to be that rude about your customer service, at least go into the back of the restaurant where customers can't watch you blatantly ignore the service aspect of the restaurant industry (this happened on Feb 25th at 5:45 PM if you are interested about who was on schedule). Additionally, they forgot all of my guacamoles, salsas, and dressing, which I had to point out and send them back to get for me (because the person packing my bag was too busy on his cell phone). Lastly, because they were so distracted with their own personal interests, I wanted to point out that a customer actually walked in, wasn't talked to for 3 minutes, and walked out because no one was paying attention. On top of all of this, the food was cold and really disappointing taste wise. Tempe is already such a hard place for restaurants to thrive because of the college community surrounding the area, but with employees like these, it doesn't matter where you are, you'll be closed regardless. I have multiple years working in the customer service industry and this was far from acceptable from what I've been taught. It's really a shame because the family who owns these restaurants is amazing and I really enjoyed the food prior to this experience, but consider this the last time I go to Someburros. read more

This Someburros has really gone downhill since opening. When it first opened, the food was fresh and good. Recently, it's been very disappointing and low quality. My most recent order was a green chili burro and a pollo quesadilla and both were straight up gross. The quesadilla was served sopping with grease and stuffed with overcooked chicken. The green chili burro was heavy and flavorless. I've been to several other good Someburros and I really like Isabel's in Gilbert, but this location is just really low-quality now. There are many good restaurants in the area and there's really no reason to go here anymore. read more

Just tried this place for the first time tonight and will not be coming back even with the free coupons given. Took 30 minutes to receive food to the point I was contemplating simply asking for my money back while I was still waiting. (Wish I did) Fine dining Steakhouses get entrees out within 20 mins of putting in the order. Order was also inaccurate. Ordered a bean burrito but received an overly fried chimichanga. Ordered two ground beef tacos and received shredded beef instead. Opened the bag to find a few free burrito coupons. The kids working their couldn't communicate their inefficiency so instead threw freebies in the bag to smooth things over while they hid in the kitchen. We've been going to Someburros for years. It's a family favorite. Other locations are great, always consistent. This was our first time at this location and it was horrible. It took 30 minutes to get our food. Our food was cold...every dish. We sent back the beans to be reheated and they came back cold again! My husband ordered the Pollo Fundido on special & they filled it with beef. One carne asada burrito had only 4 pieces of meat. A beef enchilada was literally a tortilla with enchilada sauce, almost no meat. The manager is clearly not equipped to handle problems. It was very unprofessional. read more

So I ate at this restaurant. Here is a story to tell. This man named Ernie approached me and what a guy the towel flowed out of his pants with extravagance. He asked me "howwww you doin." I said fine thank you very much. He then walked away politely and said "let me know if you need anything." I said actually some cane's sauce would be great. He said sorry this isn't McDonald's. I called and placed an order for 2 veggie burros because I'm a vegetarian got about a third of the way into one and there was MEAT in it. Also a veggie burro is suppose to have cheese which it did not and fresh avocados in it but instead it had the pico de avocado and they did not tell me this would be substituted. Also the first time I called a girl named Hailey answered the phone but said the wrong address and then said "wait what" and hung up on me so I had to call again and a different employee answered the phone. I love Someburros and was excited to see a new location close to work. My first visit was great. The service was good and food was awesome as ever. I was getting my birthday lunch that day and when I returned to my office with my food I found a Happy Birthday note in the bag. Very special. While waiting I watched the manager wait on a deaf couple. He handled them with grace and dignity. He pointed to items while also speaking to them as though they were not hearing impaired. This is what they give you for combo #9. Two tacos with rice and beans. Nearly $10 bucks without tax. I have been here several times and the last few times, I feel cheated out of my money. Both the beans and rice were in the same half pint container. Resulting in half the amount of beans and rice you would normally receive. The been burrito is a joke. I didnt realize i asked for a tortilla with a thin spread of beans. The tacos were underneath all the items and are cracked in half and i had to put the items together again. What is up with you Someburros? You basically stole my money and I am NOT happy about this. I have been going to your baseline location since i was a kid in the late 80's and this is how you treat customers willingness to spend money at your now rip off restaurant? Here is what the Rural location does too, you order a half pint or pint of whatever, you will not get a full container. The fill it to a half inch below the rim.
