And what a wonderful stop it turned out to be! We honestly had one of the best breakfasts of our entire trip. My son had the turkey sandwich, Mom enjoyed a delicious ham & cheese croissant, and I had the Philly cheesesteak with mushrooms,so good and satisfying! My daughter ordered the Dalgona coffee, and it instantly became her favorite. The food was fresh and delicious, the coffee was excellent, and most of all, the café has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You can really feel the personal touch and love that goes into this place. If you're visiting Hudson, New York, or traveling through the Hudson Valley, make sure to stop by Nolita's Cafe & Gallery on Warren Street. Support a wonderful local business, grab a great cup of coffee, and come hungry! What started as a rainy change of plans became one of our favorite food memories from the trip. Everything was a delight and my Aunts liked it. Service was nice and cheerful but slow. They were packed so they get a pass. However they tried to get caught up and got what we ordered in good time. Ambiance is nice and quaint with indoor and outdoor seating. I can imagine this place getting packed in summer for sure. I liked it! I had to go up and ask what was going on, and even then, there was no urgency or explanation. I wasn't expecting fast food, but come on. The food was just meh, not bad but definitely not worth the wait. Unless you're not hungry, don't have kids with you, and are in the mood for a painfully slow, lazy day experience, I'd say skip it. This most recent time we tried to queso and got the fries to go along with them which was a great idea, they paired wonderfully. We've also had the nachos and the street corn which are both delicious as well. For our meal my husband and I both get the carne asada which is fantastic. It comes with a chipotle butter and the steak itself is more of a classic strip steak rather than what you typically get for a carne asada. I love the way they make it here! The beans, rice and cheese enchilada are the perfect complement to the steak and the vegetables soak up all the steak juice and chipotle butter. They're also very well seasoned with garlic as is. We forgot to take photos of the steak because we were so excited to eat it! Lastly, the margaritas are delicious as well of course! As I'm looking at the menu I'm intrigued with the variety of foods they have. I opted for the Rueben. I don't like rye bread so I asked to put it on a Kaiser roll instead. I am so glad I picked that. It was probably the best Reuben sandwich I've had as long as I can remember. It came out hot, and I mean hot!!! Cheese all melty and it was delicious!!! Their menu is extensive and impressive; they have some all-star dishes on their permanent menu as well as a rotating daily menu with a legendary lineup of seasonal items. I really appreciate that they have dishes that are hard to come by such as lentil loaf and lasagna, and these never disappoint. The lentil loaf is unique; it is a little brick of lentils (not your traditional sliceable mush of breadcrumbs and minced veggies). It's very well seasoned and the tomato sauce on top is not overly sweet. The mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy and (very) garlicky greens make it a great meal. The lasagna is one of my favorite dishes. It's pasta-free and just made from layers of sliced zucchini and other veggies sandwiched with their delicious crumbly housemade cashew cheese. The herby tomato sauce is super flavorful. The side salad and garlic bread that accompany it are great also; an ultra comforting meal. We enjoyed the macro meal, although honestly not as much as the other dishes. The pan-seared tofu was delicious, but the arame seaweed salad was super seaweedy and salty - a bit much for me. I'm also not sure why they didn't serve it in a bowl, which would have made the rice etc. easier to eat. It seemed to be missing something - perhaps avocado, or a hunk of sweet potato. A few items at the Garden Cafe are a little perplexing, compared to how perfect most of their food is. The tempeh is just ok. It's heavily marinated in a sweet and salty sauce and kind of strange. Also disappointing that it's just a big brand tempeh rather than one of the local tempeh brands available in the area. The housemade focaccia is also bizarre. The texture made me think it was gluten-free (but it's not). Is it whole wheat?? If that's the case, awesome, but they should mention that on the menu, so you aren't taken aback when you don't get pillowy airy bread and instead get something flat and gray that could be mistaken for a biscotti. We LOVE the Garden Cafe and wish more places like this existed serving organic classic meals. We wish they would open a location in New York City, but until then, we will be making the drive!

We initially parked to grab coffees to go since we had our dog in the car. The owner and staff were incredibly warm and welcoming and let us know the business is dog friendly, inviting us to bring our dog inside. That small gesture completely changed our stop and allowed us to relax and truly enjoy a coffee break. We ordered a hot caramel latte, a hot chocolate, and a Macau egg tart. If you stay, drinks are served in mugs and treats come on dessert plates, which makes it feel like a place meant for slowing down and we happily did. The quirky wall art and decor added character, with dark paint colors accented by pops of lighting and artwork. It felt especially cozy and inviting with the unexpected snow falling outside. They also offer matcha drinks, ramen, bao, and other lunch items. This turned into a wonderful, unplanned stop, and we're so glad we found it.
