I brought my 1-year-old Bengal to see Dr. Howard because she wasn't eating or drinking and had been…read moreunusually lethargic. He recommended X-rays ($300) and lab work ($260). I agreed to the X-rays but declined the labs. After reviewing the X-rays, he said she "possibly" had a bowel obstruction and again pushed for labs, along with pain medication and more tests. She wasn't in pain, so I declined the pain meds, and I opted for subcutaneous fluids instead -- which alone cost $200. I paid about $500 for the exam, X-rays, and fluids. He asked me to return the next day for more fluids, additional X-rays, and an ultrasound. I returned because I could already see she felt better after the fluids, but I made it clear I did not want more imaging and only wanted fluids. At that point, he told me I should "surrender her care" to someone who could afford the full treatment plan simply because I declined more X-rays. Despite that comment, I proceeded with fluids and home medications and paid another $500. Once home, my cat improved quickly -- she ate, felt better, and had a normal bowel movement the next day. It was clear that dehydration was the main issue, and the fluids made the difference. I left feeling that a lot of unnecessary tests were pushed on me, even when it was obvious she was responding well to basic supportive care. I don't believe expensive labs and repeated X-rays were needed just to monitor whether my cat was getting better. The pressure to agree to additional diagnostics and the suggestion to surrender my pet were extremely disappointing. Total price $1000 which could have been much more affordable with critical thinking skills.

Universal Diagnostic Testing placed me on their "Refresh" program for mailing replacement C-PAP…read morecushions, and I had not requested them to do this. In fact, I had specifically told them I did NOT want to be on this service. However, they have continued to mail me replacement C-Pap masks and bill me and my insurance, even after I've called their office and repeatedly requested them to discontinue this. UDT used to be a respected and honorable company, and their current PA Troy is absolutely wonderful to work with. But their billing practices seem suspect to me at this time. Though I was hoping to have additional testing in the future, I will be seeking another company for testing and another supplier for their C-PAP services.

Avoid, dishonest business practices…read more My wife was referred her by our doctor. The first time we went to pick up the shirt, there was no instruction provided, and she wore it inside out so the data was invalid. We returned the shirt, and were not going to go back but UDT kept calling and harassing us, so we decided to try again. This time it worked, and so we went on with our life. A few months later we get a notice from our insurance stating that UDT didn't properly file the claim and they settled with them for a reduced amount. The settlement included a reduced payment for us. We also couldn't help but notice that they billed our insurance for two nights including the night for which they provided no training. We payed for the one night at the settled amount, and pointed out that we weren't paying for the first night because they didn't provide training. Universal diagnostic testing continued to send us bills for two nights at the full amount, and each time we sent back letters advising that it was fraudulent for them to bill our insurance for the night that they didn't provide training, and that we had paid them for the settled rate of the second night. After about three times doing this they sent it to collections. We sent documentation to the collection agency proving that the account was settled with our insurance, and that we had paid the settled amount for the night we actually received training for. At that point, UDT returned our payment check, put it on my wifes credit report and continued to try to collect. We disputed the debt with the collection agency and nothing happened for a year until the past month when the law firm for the collection agency sent a collection letter. Once again we sent them documentation from our insurance proving that it was settled through our insurance company, and that we had tried to pay the settled amount, and advised them that we weren't paying for the night for which there was no training. I will fight this in court if I have too.
