However, while I was waiting for 30 minutes to have our dog seen, I had to listen to loud talking with the staff including swearing and calling someone a "B****". Then Dr. Butler comes in (after I can hear her talking so loudly about how I chose not to get a kennel cough shot) and proceeds to be very abrasive, loud and dismissive. She cut me off about 5 times with every question I asked, was upset I didn't want to get the kennel cough shot and then acted very passive-aggressively when saying "so your dog doesn't like other dogs". In addition, the dentist who worked on my dog's teeth to clean them last said she could come back for a teeth cleaning without anesthesia as she was so calm and cooperative. When I brought this up to Dr. Butler, she nearly cut my head off saying that would be "bad medical practice and he has NO authority to determine this, only I CAN". SO UNPROFESSIONAL and again, seems as though they are only interested in profit, not wellness. I called Dr. Rick Whitty and he came out, listened to to me, throughly examined my cat and saved his life. I've read some these 1-star reviews and I disagree. Yes, there was a brief time when the office staff was below par - I mentioned it and they were already aware of the issues and it was handled - these issues no longer exist. Costs going up - yep - that's life. The price of everything has gone up. I have a long term client discount - I'm not sure how long you have to be a client to get this but it shows that it matters. They care, they listen and they make a difference in the lives of the animals they see. From advice and diagnosis' to care given this practice is the best.

Results did not necessarily say cancer but the vet did not want to rule it out and let me worry. They were ready for surgery and to send the mass out for testing. I called around, and set an appointment with Canyons because the front desk workers. They just seemed real and very personable. Even though it was a couple days out I felt this place maybe worth the wait. They kept their appointment, and I did not have to wait. I love this aspect because my dog hated vets. The vet looked over and saw the bump. She asked if I just got vaccinated. "Yes, a couple of weeks ago." She didn't want to go any further than that until a couple months if bump did not resolve. She felt confident and knew exactly what it was given the location of a rabies vax. I explained to the doctor at canyons what my other vet said. And ask for the pricing for comparison. Canyons came in cheaper in everything. I was in and out and back home within a half hour with just a simple small office visit. My old fired vet was over an hour and 200 dollars for testing. And wanted to book surgery. Said she was giving me the "gold standard" . It turned out to be the worst advice. Dog's lump is now gone. And Canyons saved me over 1000 dollars. I can now spend this money to get his teeth cleaned. Instead of wasting money on getting a vaccine bump removed.

Called clinic and was told they were booked every day for 2 weeks and couldn't see my dog. Suggested I take her to urgent care. Was told they don't take walk-ins. They see my dog almost monthly so how is that a walk-in?? It was explained to me that the doctors are booked out so far and can't see any animals for 2 weeks in part because they are training graduates...seriously? You are prioritizing training graduates over your clients and their animals. Even if that is the case who would verbalize that to a loyal client. What a terrible practice. In addition, they claim the dog I took in weighed 74 lbs and needed to lose 10 lbs weight so gave me a diet plan. I was looking at the scale the same as the assistant was. It fluctuated between 70-71. That's easy enough to ignore, but their customer service about prescriptions is atrocious.

My cat Cassidy has been a member of our family for more than 20 years. In his old age he…read morecontracted diabetes. I have been taking him for veterinary care on a regular basis to Brickyard Animal Hospital in Salt Lake City for many years. For the most part I have had no reason to complain about their veterinary care other than exorbitant prices. Visits have cost between $200 and more than $500, depending on blood tests, medications, etc. I have been receiving medications from Chewy because their costs are less than half of that charged by Brickyard Animal Hospital. Over the years I have spent thousands of dollars on pet care with Brickyard. About ten days ago I took Cassidy to Brickyard for a wellness check. The usual vet, Dr. Allen, was not available and so Cassidy was attended by Dr. Matthew J. Heller. I was not impressed with Dr. Heller from the beginning because his attitude was brusk. He examined Cassidy and asked me if Dr. Allen had mentioned that Cassidy's kidney numbers were high, in the 30s, at his last visit. I replied that he had not mentioned it. Dr. Heller said blood work was necessary and he would notify me of the results by phone in a few days. He then instructed his aide to take Cassidy in the back for the tests. As she went out of the door with Cassidy, Dr. Heller called out to her to also test his urine. I had no concern as this had been done in the past. As I was sitting in the room, waiting for them to bring Cassidy back to me, I heard the most blood curdling scream I have ever heard in my life. It was Cassidy, squealing and screaming at the top of his lungs. I wasn't sure it was him at the time, but when they returned him to me, he acted strangely and cowered in the carrier I carried him with. When I went out into the lobby to pay the bill (over $500) the lady at the desk asked, "Was that Cassidy?" Only then did I realize what had happened. They squeezed his stomach to force him to pass urine! Barbaric! I brought my cat to seek relief for his pain and suffering, not to intensify it! I cannot even begin to explain that horrible sound of the pain he was in. A few days later, Dr. Heller called and said that the test revealed that Cassidy's kidney numbers were extremely high, over 74, and that he likely had only weeks to live, if not less. I said nothing to him about the office treatment because of the shock of learning that I was about to lose my boy. However, when I took Cassidy to the vet, he was in good health, happy and content; when I brought him home, he moved as though in pain, did not want to be lifted, and vomited several times and defecated involuntarily. He was sick and lethargic. He could not have declined that much in one day! He was injured internally by these barbaric "vets" and declined within several days. He was put to sleep to end his suffering on August 30, 2026, within ten days of the visit to Brickyard Animal Hospital. My wife and I have no children. Our cats are our children. The loss of Cassidy has brought a sadness and gloom over our household. We could have had weeks to enjoy his little life before the visit to Brickyard. They robbed us of precious time with him and subjected him to unimaginable misery. This veterinarian (and I use the term lightly) had no right to subject my cat to this cruelty without at the very least notifying me in advance for my approval. I would never have approved such barbarous treatment of an animal, especially my animal. I have thought seriously about litigation against Brickyard, but in the end, it would be ineffectual. Cats are considered property and the most we could have gotten out of the effort was probably $75 or $100. I am in hopes that by making other people aware of this barbarous veterinary hospital it will discourage business with them. AVOID!
