Working with Brian Novak at United Wholesale Supply Inc was a true pleasure. Brian came out to my…read morehouse with a couple of colleagues, to see what my home looked like before my remodel and to measure and discuss my cabinetry needs for my kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms. Although there were a few missing components when we opened all of the packaging containing the cabinetry, Brian made sure everything was as it should be in the end and got me everything I asked and paid for with no argument. He even made a few deliveries himself. Brian was professional, extremely knowledgeable and helpful when I had questions or concerns. He had me come up to his office / warehouse location to look at some examples of what United had to offer, which I would recommend others do as well. He "always" responded back to me when I sent an email or called even when he was ill or on vacation. He explained things when I didn't understand so I could contemplate what I wanted, and we could go forward from there. When the remodel was complete, Brian and his colleague, Jade Hemmings, came out with a professional photographer (at my convenience) and took photographs. Jade made sure I was given copies of the photos taken, which was sincerely appreciated. I would highly recommend United Wholesale Supply Inc and anyone lucky enough to have Brian as their sales associate, would be lucky to have him.

TASK: Remove existing backsplash and countertop and install a new backsplash and countertop…read more PROBLEM 1: NEITHER THE DEMOLITION CREW NOR THE INSTALLATION CREW WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPPING THE COUNTERTOPS. Nothing was covered. All contents of the drawers were contaminated by demolition materials. In addition, during the demolition, the underlayment of the countertops was damaged. As stated in the contract, this was not to be addressed by Granite and Marble Specialists (GMS). Once the island countertop was removed, you could see that a heavy layer of glue remained on the underlay. The installers said that that was not their responsibility. They installed the countertop over the uneven underlayment of the residual glue. This meant that there were up to 1/2 inch gaps between the counter and the underlayment, stretching a span of 108.5 inches. Over time, this will lead to instability and breakage of the stone. The installers forged ahead and installed the new countertop independent of the gaps. The installers were adamant that they had installed the island countertop to level. RESULT: We had to remove the new countertop and have the surface sanded to level before having them reinstall the countertop. PROBLEM 2: NEITHER THE DEMOLITION CREW NOR THE INSTALLATION CREW WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPPING THE BLACKSPLASH AFTER DEMOLITION. This meant that it was the homeowner's responsibility to install drywall and to make sure that the backsplash was level. The backsplash was 1.5 inches unlevel from one end of the backsplash to the other. Thus, in addition to the provision of drywall because the existing drywall was damaged during demolition, we had to shim the drywall to ensure the backsplash was level for the backsplash installation. RESULT: We had to go buy wood, cut it to the specific dimensions and install the new underlayment for the backsplash. IN SUM: GMS provided what the contract stated, an installed countertop and backsplash. It was not stated in the contract that it be level or that it be level to the degree that it was level prior to the new installation. The installers showed it to be level because the countertop was 108.5 inches long X 46 inches wide X 3cm deep. So, BEWARE. If this is the type of installation you are looking for, this is the organization for you.

A true rogue trader, a disgusting company with unfathomable levels of outrageous customer service…read moreand poor installation expertise. Barbra, Dawn and Oliver all have been nothing but perpetual let downs and continued to amaze me at their disregard for solving the unacceptable quality of their work. Day after day of delays, one legitimate because of some "injury", then perpetual missed etas and timelines. My wife took a day off to stay home, who's a hair stylist and lost out on that days money.... and they didn't even show up till 7pm. Dropped off slabs, said they'd be back first thing to install. First thing didn't happen, when question he said I never said first thing, I said 11-2 and I'll be there at 1:30... well 1:30 rolls and no one.. I had to pay someone to be at the house to let these strangers in, and they ended up having to leave because he didn't even show up until 3pm..despite being in regular text communication... not even a little heads up. Fine. Not to mention this whole time we'd been calling our sales rep and head office leaving voicemails and absolutely nothing. The installation that day was the shoddiest most incomplete wreck of a job..my wife was in tears. We've been rebuilding an old house, and done all the work ourselves and this was to be one of the luxury items... one of things taken off our hands and installed correctly and expertly. I can't begin to express my deepest most heartfelt regrets at choosing Valley Fabricators. The pictures attached will speak for themselves. Thick grout like seams... scratches... rough waterfall seams... excess compound hardened and left squeeze on the sides.. quarter inch off straight on just a 10" piece and a whole slab piece that you could fit your hand down the gap as it met the wall in the corner.. We complained Tuesday and Wednesday and were seemingly escalated to Dawn... she was apologetic and we believed we'd get somewhere. We had discussed that everything about our business together had been awful, and that we'd be looking for a discount on the final product.. They had the audacity to send me the completed invoice straight after install.... with no signature of job completion, no word from management no anything, despite our immediate complaints!!!!! I complained and said it's insulting you'd think it appropriate to send that prior to the installation being fixed... Dawn replied how she's sorry that happened it's not acceptable and they would "dealing with that" internally... We had them come out again on the Friday to fix it.... and they spent 6 hours trying to. Oliver left and said management would be in contact. Well, pieces were still 1/4 off... facia seams on island are still crap, the seams are still grout lines, they had to sand and smooth exposed sides they had forgotten about, and not only did they leave all the the counters filthy with the dust, when we cleaned them there was a huge scratch across the island too surface... So after Friday's work and they said management was going to call... I waited Friday afternoon.... nothing... Saturday nothing.. Sunday nothing... and On Sunday we looked at our bank account and saw they had stolen the money prior to the job being completed ON THE WEDNESDAY! Raging at this blatant disrespect and deliberate action of "smash and grab" thievery... I called and demanded my money back while we negotiate the difference of what I originally paid for... to what I actually got... What ensued was the most devastating handling of a customer service issue I've ever experienced. Detailed emails with pictures and stating my lack of confidence in their expertise to ever get the job right at this point were sent. Over and over. Then Barbra got back involved and I thought maybe she would help. But after all her promises and conversational manner of "I'll take care of this" it was all a pack of lies.. not once did she ACTUALLY get back to me without me chasing.. two days would pass.. three days would pass... I would chase for an update and she'd say yes I have one let me call you..... the urgency they collectively put to our grievances with their service was as lazy as their workmanship. As a consumer I have zero confidence in their abilities to not only deliver a superior product... but that they are incapable of doing the right thing in any aspect. DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THEM. Don't be stuck like me, with no other options other than to take legal actions and be stuck with your hard earned money hostage as you try to plead your case of just how poor their product is... Your kitchen is your homes heart...it wasn't supposed to be like this. This was supposed to be the final touch... and they left me needing a heart transplant. Counters are supposed to be 20 year installments... and if I can't find a contractor to come fix these.... They will have to be ripped out because of them.
