Other than very expensive food we liked this place. Comfortable atmosphere, excellent service (order from the bar only, food brought to table) good beer and wine. We ordered the fish and chips for $15. Your choice of beer batter fried or panko crusted. We got the beer battered and it was spectacular! The french fries were obviously hand cut and they were amazing as well. The problem is that for $15 to get two small pieces of fish and barely any fries? Really? That was a turn off. When the server asked how everything was I told him that it was good but the portion of fries was small and disappointing. He said he would tell the kitchen and asked me if I was sure we didn't want more... I shyly said, "well if you are offering..." and he left. We never received any fires, which is fine, not what I was after, but don't ever lead one to believe that is what you are going to do and then not do it. Come on now. Its always a treat to stop in here and have delicious food with great brew! I've never been disappointed with the gourmet crafted food and variety of brew here. They do have wine on the menu as well if you prefer. We both had Hazy IPAs (our fave choice of beer) that truly quenched the thirst! In fact we had two each because the first one went down too quick!Food: The housemade bacon burger was huge as you can see in the pic and done perfectly. It was moist and had a nice grilled flavor and charred color ( because I don't like pale looking burgers). I had the fried chicken Sando and as the server said, it was definitely the best fried chicken Sando that I've ever had! The batter was light yet crunchy and full of flavor. Both burger and chicken were generous portions that exceeded the size of the bun. Both sandwiches came with fries. I'm hoping both items stay on the menu...please?? I have been enjoying Solid Ground on a weekly basis for almost a year now and have nothing but great experiences here. Their chef is some sort of wizard. That guy curates thoughtful, simple, seasonal menus that leave you craving for more and I am always excited to see his menu updates. My group enjoys their Fried Chicken Sandwich (I always say it and I'll say it again...THIS IS THE BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH AROUND) and tell them to make it spicy! We also frequently order their wings, hand cut fries, Brussels sprouts, pork tacos, and more. The hand cut fries are phenomenal. RANCH LOVERS: their ranch is made in-house. It's not comparable to any other. Order it by the boat load. Brussels sprouts are the newest item I have tried and I credit the chef for cooking them right. They have a mild flavor and he utilized bacon nuggets. Yes, NUGGETS. Like the big brother of bacon. This place has great beer that appeals to all beer lovers--from light lagers down to stouts. Wine lover? They have you covered. I credit them for offering light wines that are perfect to enjoy a few on their patio. I've seen some review complaining of wait times or staff availability. To address that, I'd like to highlight that when ordering your food, the staff WILL tell you the wait time. So it is never a surprise and we happily accept the time it takes. read more

We saw this place on Yelp and stopped about 4:30pm on a Friday. It seems like a really cool place to hang out. We checked out the menu and decided to stick around. My wife and I sat down and decided what we were going to order. You order at the bar, they give you a number and bring it out to you. It looks like they brew about 15 or so of their own beers. We ordered the Solid Ground Sliders which are beef, choice of cheese (we chose ghost pepper jack), drunken caramelized onion and mustard aioli. The sliders come with fries and we ordered a side of fries. I also ordered a Kabru IPA. The food and drink were brought out in a timely fashion and looked and tasted really good. This was a pretty cool experience that we had not expected and would like to come back. They also do growler fills and sell their own growlers. read more

Fun little brewery in Diamond Springs that offers a wide variety of beer, wine, and snacks (Maybe some meals for most). Honestly, I had no clue this wonderful establishment existed as it seems fairly new. That or they are extremely good at keeping things clean and up to date speaking of the aesthetics of the inside interior. While sitting inside, you can take a gander at their brewing setup, which is not gigantic, but big enough to show off their brewing equipment. They do offer entertainment on the weeknights and weekends, but sadly I cannot comment on it as there was a band just setting up when I visited. That aside, pretty basic service, but the beer is quite tasty, so three cheers to them on that note. I tried their IPA, Pale Ale, and finished off with a Nitro Coffee, and can honestly say nothing was bad in the least. The family relative with me had similar drinks as well as some wine and they had nothing bad to say about it. We also got some basic snacks, but I was so full from lunch, that I really only ordered a salted hard boiled egg (Yeah, I know weird, but it was so good). Service is pretty straight forward, but I found the bartenders to be much more engaging versus the table service, but just my two cents. Do not expect to pay too much as the pricing is not sky high, one could spend many days and nights here without breaking the bank. All and all, well worth a visit and I will definitely be revisiting soon as it was a fun experience. read more

This place is honestly the worst. The beer is fine, it's beer! I have tried everything on the food menu twice. Really, really bad even if you're drunk! The greasiest, most sour tasting tacos, a burger and chicken sandwich that are flat gross and salads that are virtually inedible. It look me a half dozen visits to realize what a shit hole this is. The do not clean the tables during their shifts, they only bus them. I mean eveytime I'm in, I've watched customers clean their own tables. They wait until their end of shift to clean the tables properly. I had to return my food tonight,no apology. They are not kind to complaints. Perhaps the pandemic has made finding good workers difficult because I don't know where the hell they picked up these rude, unpleasant, incompetent bar staff. No customer service whatsoever and *if* they do attend to you, they look like they're being inconvenienced. It's like they need to be reminded that they're nobodies - which is why they're working that job in the first place. Don't walk around the place like you don't have to *service customers* because you don't actually own the place and you're just a lowly wage worker so why not just do your damn job? After spending an entire Sunday at Solid Ground Brewing, from hours before opening time to well into the evening, I gotta say I am thoroughly impressed by every aspect of the place, processes, & people here. That's because, for starters, they did something unique I've never heard of a brewery doing before. They invited a small group of homebrewers into the actual brewery to follow along step-by-step as they brewed a batch of their beer. & we even got to take some of it home to ferment & finish on our own. All you had to do was register for the event, pay an extremely reasonable fee, & show up to see what brewing on a commercial system looks like. Needless to say, for any hardcore beer nerd, it was an awesome experience. KC, Scott, & the brewing crew were entertainingly informative & kept things interesting over the course of a full brewday. &, naturally, there were breaks in the action when we could go out to the taproom to enjoy the already brewed fruits of their labor. From the front of house, Solid Ground Brewing is spacious & cleanly decked out in brick, wood, & concrete. Given a full day there, I tried 10 of the 16 beers on tap. My Untappd average rating for those 10 beers was 3.8 out of 5. Overall, that's pretty good. In addition to beers, I tried out their kitchen & got the Solid Ground Sliders. Those were delicious & a decent portion for soaking up the day's worth of beers. Thanks much KC, Scott, & the whole crew at Solid Ground Brewing for an awesome day of brewing, beers, grub, & hanging out with fellow hardcore beer nerds. UPDATED REVIEW: I love the beer here. This place is usually awesome. But I recently visited on a weekend in late September 2020 when the Apple Hill crowds are in high gear. The experience was disappointing. We arrived at 2pm and we were extremely hungry. The place was packed inside and outside. We ordered 2 pints, Mulitas, a Bahn Mi Wrap and a side of fries. The staff said the wait for food was an hour! Disappointed at this news, we decided to accept the long wait and sip the beers while our stomachs growled as we saw every other table getting food. The food ended up arriving after about 45 minutes. The Mulitas were rather small and I guess I was expecting more flavor out of them. The Bahn Mi Wrap was huge and to my surprise came with a huge side of fries. We didn't even need the extra side of fries I had ordered despite none of the food items mentioning being paired with a side of fries on the menu. The banh mi wrap was more like an Asian-flavored burrito. The "wrap" was basically a green spinach tortilla. The pickled garnishes were ok and were pretty much the only things that made it sort-of bahn mi -ish. There were huge chunks of chicken that had an odd sauce, not necessarily "Asian" flavored. While filling, the wrap was also a disappointment. It is a good thing we had an insane amount of fries. They were the redeeming part of the meal. The fries are very fresh tasting like they were just cut from a potato. Perhaps the copious amounts of fries is what was holding up the kitchen? I will go to Solid Ground again. But I would not order those items again. If you see the mini burger sliders with the homemade buns on the menu, get those instead! They weren't on the menu this time and are by far the best mini burgers I have ever eaten. Also, maybe don't go when there is a crowd unless you aren't all that hungry or you are prepared to have a couple brews before your food arrives. read more
