I've been to Solar Nails many times over the last ten years. The staff is always very nice and the salon is clean. I went in today, had my acrylics taken off,and did a dip manicure. I'm happy with the results. They're a little shorter than I would've liked, but my nails were weak from the acrylic, and some nails grew more than others and had to be evened out. Some technicians are better than others, but everyone does a decent job. Walk in wait isn't too bad. Today I waited 30min. They do take appointments. read more

Very disappointed, I been going to solar for years and I never know what of service I will get until I'm sitting in the chair. Sometimes it's great and they do a nice job, majority of the time is it complete opposite and not so great. I think I hit my breaking point this last service though and will not coming back any time soon. Theses were supposed to be my vacation nails but they definitely do not look like vacation nails to me, this was there way of fixing the jerked up French tips I got by covering it with another polish but you can still see the French tip underneath. This was an awful and lazy fix. The French tip should've been removed instead of just printed over on. Excuse my feet lol. read more

Got my nails done with gel on a Friday evening, and they were already chipping Sunday morning (for no reason - I barely did anything with them to chip). When I went there to see if they could just fix 1 nail quickly, no one addressed me when I walked in and I had to walk up to a worker to ask. He told me that there were 10 people waiting and I had to wait my turn... when I expressed my frustration from being there less than 48 hours before, and already waiting my turn on Friday evening, they did not care and told me it didn't matter. They were pretty rude about it. I was told I had to wait. Sadly, it was also my birthday so I had limited time and left. I had experiences similar in the past here, but ignored it. Another time I was getting my nails done and asked to get the gel off my toes. They told me it would've been a $20 charge. I said no, and they conveniently dropped the price to $10, so it's pretty shady. I won't be back. read more

I have been going to Solar Nails since 2019. I usually pay cash. You get a discount when you pay cash. I usually just give the extra money to my nail tech in addition to my normal $10 tip. Today the owner did my nails. He knew I usually pay cash. I told him I was paying with two Master card gift cards I got as Mother's day gifts.I also told him I was paying the ip in cash. He said that each card was denied and I had to pay another way. I ended up paying cash and tipping him and the woman who did my pedicure $10 each. When I got home I called Mastercard to see what was going on with my gift cards. The woman I spoke to new I had tried to use them at Solar Nails. She said that the reason they didn't work was because he was trying to add a $10 tip and doing so put it over the limit. He was absolutely trying to rip me off. I'm so angry by this. I've come here time and time again because if the friendly staff and spectacular selection of gel polish. Quality depends of your nail technician I learned the hard way. Some just rush to get you out as soon as possible and when that happens I am next pleased with the results. My last gel polish change I got here they insisted I do it in my chair during my pedi and it lasted less then a week because she did such a poor job. This time I went I got a full on manicure while they were slow but the man who did it still rushed and did a poor job. I'm in my car picking the gel polish off my skin and there is still dirt under my nails. I'm truly truly disappointed this time because my nails don't look like they look like they were professionally done at all and don't think I will be back after this. read more

Solar nails was always my favorite nail salon in lockport as I never thought the other salons around were as good. However, I feel as though I'm always leaving there with some small issue that I felt they could have done a better job on. For example all of my acrylic nails wouldn't be the same length or the shape may be off on a couple nails, but it has never been a big enough issue to stop me from going there. I recently had an acrylic nail fall off and underneath I found my nail to be covered in fungus. This disgusted me beyond belief so I decided to take off the rest of my nails to find that there was fungus on 7/10 of nails. My friend who I go there with also had fungus on 2 of her nails. I decided to take mine off myself as I never want to go back there for the negligence and uncleanliness that they displayed by giving me fungus to begin with. However, my friend went there to get her acrylic nails removed and the lady ripped them off of her fingers, causing her an immense amount of pain and making her fingers bleed. They do not seem to care about the health and safety of their customers and only care about making money. I will NEVER be going to this establishment again. read more

I used to love going here! I've been going here since 2014. Today was the usual pedicure and fill. This time when I went to pay they told me my card was broken, their machine said chip malfunction and then they preceded to try my card again. They charged my card twice of $57. I ended up having to call my bank to get the money back. I am highly disappointed that this place for not knowing how to use debit/cards when the owners aren't around. It was Saturday and when I walked in it was emptier than I expected. I went in for a filling for my acrylics and I had a lady named Beverly. She was so nice and rocked my nails. I was a little nervous since I wasn't sure if she would do a good job but she was fantastic. We chatted and she filled my nails with ease. Went for a pedicure 2 weeks ago. I usually attend a different salon but the wait was too long so I figured I would try Solar Nails because I heard good things. I had a great experience. Friendly staff. However, the polish started chipping a week later and now two weeks have gone by and I have no toe nail polish left on my toes. I have never had this experience and I find myself very unpleased with the paint job. Usually a pedicure is able to last me at least a month. My girlfriend and I treated ourselves to a much needed pedi. She started 10 mins before me and I watched as she got this amazing foot and leg rub by khang. I was not so lucky. Very quick motioned ... un massaging "massage" was what I received. Disappointing as this is my favorite part. I pointed out my problem area on my foot (the part that was dead dry itchy skin) and she barely touched it. I left still wanting to scrape my feet on the concrete and my gf left with baby smooth skin. My gf got hot towels on her feet as well and I of course did not. Both got deluxe pedi and I was done at the same time she was even though she started earlier. I will come back - but only to see khang. My polish is pretty though. read more

I love getting my nails done at Solar nails. I have only had pedicures, but they always turn out great. It is very clean and the atmosphere is low key...there isn't a lot of loud music or anything like that and I enjoy that type of atmosphere. I have been there before and they were good but today was awful. I made an appointment for 2 people for 1:30 as I had an obligation at 3 pm. I assumed I had plenty of time. What they didn't tell me is they had a wedding party of 11 people there at the same time. We sat and waited for 1/2 hour and was told only a little while longer, probably 15 mins or so. We left.
