I also preferred a local installer in Northern Virginia, and Sky NRG fit that requirement perfectly. We signed the contract on July 26, and the panels were installed on September 10. Megan handled the HOA permissions, and the installation was completed ahead of schedule when Sky NRG found an opening that suited me. Juan and his team managed the installation with careful attention to the aesthetics of the panel placement. Robert, Sky NRG's CEO, was present during the installation, underscoring their commitment to customer satisfaction. We discovered issues with my existing electrical panel during the process, and Robert recommended replacing it. Between the DC grant and the Federal tax credit 70% of our installation was paid for. Now we're gaining credits instead of monster electric bills during A/C season. We also elected to become "partners" with Pepco and Solar handled all that paperwork too. We get a nice not-so-little check every quarter for the SRECs that our system produces. Very disappointing. When they first installed the roof they completely covered the drain hole on…read morethe porch roof and had to completely redo it. This was only because I noticed the issue. Then, just over a year later, the roof leaked and it took them two months to make the repair. After the repair, they refused to repair the interior damage caused by the leak, some minor painting. They claimed it was because the roof damage was weather related, however as the roof was just over a year old, this is ridiculous.

Worst of all, 4) I don't think the solar attic fan they supposedly installed even works as it has made little difference in cooling my home. I said "supposedly" because I don't have access to my attic and I cannot see the roof of my property from the street, so since they installed this while I wasn't home - I haven't personally seen this fan I paid them a G to install.

I spoke with a total of 6 companies. Jesse Carl, the sales rep for Key Solar, was by far the most responsive, accommodating, and offered the best price and panel/ inverter options. Post sales Jesse was quick to respond whenever I had a question. Approvals were a breeze since Jesse took care of it, and the install team were all nice and respectful employees of Key Solar. I also love that the install team takes great pride in their work and it shows in the details, for instance installing power conduits unobtrusively so it blends in with the existing house structure. Installation did take a while to complete since I had several panels to install and added critterguards, but Billy the Operations Manager was responsive and did a good job getting everything scheduled. Only complaint I have is not loading up the south side of the house with more panels; looking at the data the south side produces twice as much energy as the other locations on my house. If you are considering solar, go with Key Solar and be sure to load up the south side of your house with as much panels as possible!
