When it came time to get panels on my own roof before the tax credit deadline, the process turned into weeks of back-and-forth. At first, they agreed to a price match with a competitor, and I also asked that their 10-year roof leak warranty be extended to 15 years, which they initially agreed to. However, when it came time to sign, they raised the price without any discussion, refused to honor the price match, and said it "should never have been offered." They also bad-mouthed the competitor (which came across as unprofessional) and told me it was essentially "take it or leave it." Given the limited time to secure the tax credit, this was incredibly frustrating. I walked away -- I would rather not install solar at all than work with a company that operates like this. To make matters worse, my neighbor's project (the one I referred) was mishandled as well. His roof needed repairs before solar panels could be installed. Solar Solutions told him they'd address it, but they didn't -- they just installed the panels anyway. When my roofer came out for my home, he also inspected my neighbor's and confirmed the roof needed major repair. My neighbor then had to call Solar Solutions back to remove all the panels so the roof could be fixed. What a mess. In short: broken promises, unprofessional conduct, and careless work. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're considering solar.

I also preferred a local installer in Northern Virginia, and Sky NRG fit that requirement perfectly. We signed the contract on July 26, and the panels were installed on September 10. Megan handled the HOA permissions, and the installation was completed ahead of schedule when Sky NRG found an opening that suited me. Juan and his team managed the installation with careful attention to the aesthetics of the panel placement. Robert, Sky NRG's CEO, was present during the installation, underscoring their commitment to customer satisfaction. We discovered issues with my existing electrical panel during the process, and Robert recommended replacing it. Based on the quality of work by Juan and the overall experience with Sky NRG, I opted to have them handle the panel replacement rather than seeking other bids. Juan completed the job, and I'm pleased with the result. We received Permission To Operate (PTO) from Dominion Energy on October 28, and since then, we've been consistently exporting energy to the grid. I'm delighted with Sky NRG. Why are they making in house access appointment without ever confirming with me and telling me no appointment has been made at the same time? During one visit, I observed that the door was left open for periods of time in very cold weather (in the 20s °F), despite my requests to keep it closed. When I raised these concerns, I felt that my feedback was not fully acknowledged, as the responses I received focused more on explanations than on addressing the issues I had raised.
