I could not be happier with my Solar installation from SkyNRG. In the six months prior to my installation I did a lot of research on PV components and got offers from eight different installers, but I picked SkyNRG for a variety of reasons and I am very glad I did. SkyNRG was great to deal with, extremely responsive and happy to answer my multitude of questions. Although my house is a very typical Northern Virginia single family home, they analyzed the relevant aspects of my home in detail to propose a system that fits my needs and blends in nicely. Robert and his team impressed me as they were extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and truly passionate about Solar. Throughout the entire process I could tell that they take great pride in their workmanship and strive to provide excellence in all aspects. Doing my research upfront I noticed they only use highest quality components. Most customers only pay attention to the main components (panels, inverter), but I was pleased to see that SkyNRG uses top notch materials only, even in areas that might not get as much attention (mounting system, electrical components). They also stood out by routing all conduits through inside walls, so the aesthetical appearance is superior to what I was offered by the other companies (routing conduit along the outside of the house). It was very reassuring that in all aspects they were always striving to implement the best, most durable solution to ensure a long lifetime of the system. In contrast, some solar companies only quoted me via phone / email based on satellite images and never came by to look at my house and review any specifics. This leaves the details for the installation crew to figure out on the day they arrive, but no specifics other than the components that will be used can be discussed and agreed upon prior to the actual installation. Other companies sent a sales person to come by and give me a quote. How it works is that the initial conversations take place with this sales person, but on the day of the install only the installation crew shows up. Typically the installation crew needs to finish the install in one day, so they are under time pressure. I felt somewhat uncomfortable with this setup as I was concerned that the sales person might not accurately convey all the agreed upon details to the installation crew - how conduit should be routed, where to place certain components etc. Also, what if I would not agree with the installation crew how they propose to handle unforeseen challenges? Who would be my contact person? There might simply not be sufficient time to discuss as they are under time pressure and need to finish by the end of the day. I felt much more comfortable working with SkyNRG as Robert guided me through the entire process. He came for the initial consultation, provided the quote, and personally oversaw the entire installation process. There were absolutely no disconnects; at all stages Robert was very pleasant to deal with and I received exactly what was promised and how I expected it. Despite their exceptional performance, SkyNRG's offer was very competitive with the other quotes I received. To me it felt like getting a superior product for the same price. As stated, I did a lot of research about PV systems prior to investing in my system. Therefore I was very involved, asking the guys at SkyNRG about every step and followed every little detail of the installation. They actually enjoyed my curiosity and were happy to let me shadow each of their steps. The entire crew was extremely transparent about everything they did and explained in detail how everything works and why they do things in a certain way. I really appreciated this, it gave me peace of mind to be able to confirm that they were highly competent and everything was executed with great diligence. On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you're a customer that wants to go solar but you're not interested in getting into all the details, working with SkyNRG should be equally satisfying. Based on their approach and professionalism you can rest assured that they will do an outstanding job and put in a top notch solar system. Last year I was walking my dog in a neighborhood close to my house and I noticed that a new neighbor had installed solar panels on her roof. She happened to be working in her front yard when I stopped her to ask about the solar panels. She took the time to explain why she decided to go with solar power and that the president of her solar company lived in the same neighborhood. The assembly and installation only took 3 days. After the installation Megan and the SkyNRG office kept me on track with paperwork and inspections for updating the electric meter connecting us to the power grid with Dominion Power and setting up the SolarEdge phone apps to monitor solar energy use at my home. A few months later I was contacted by Gina who notified me that by enrolling in the SREC (Solar Renewable Energy Certificates) program we can earn credits when we generate enough solar power which can be sold. Even later in the year when we had siding replacement and chimney repairs at my house, SkyNRG came back to temporarily remove a few panels to allow for more roof space to work on that construction. A few days later they were re-installed and solar power at my home was back to normal. My system is remotely monitored by SkyNRG and again I've been impressed with occasional calls or emails letting me know that my home network went offline due to power outages or home routers or access points going bad. It has now been a year since our home solar power installation with SkyNRG and our system accounts for roughly 70% of our total household electricity (more in the Spring & Summer vs. Fall & Winter). It will pay for itself in less than 10 years and we feel like we are helping to save Earth. I recently had solar panels installed by Sky NRG Solar on my home in Sterling, VA, and I would highly recommend using them if you are considering going solar (https://skynrgsolar.com/). They are a small, local installer (based in Reston, VA), and the owner Rob is very passionate about the field. Rob was involved with every step of the process, coming out as the salesperson, fielding my questions as I compared different companies and products, and was there for the installation, interconnection with Dominion, and county inspections. I researched and met with over a dozen local, regional, and national installers before choosing Sky NRG Solar, and I am very glad that I went with them. One of the things that makes Sky NRG Solar stand out among the competition is that they hide all of the wiring in your attic and behind your walls, which makes for a very clean looking install (check out the pictures). No cabling or electrical conduit running across our roof or along the outside of our house! Their master electrician, Elliot, told me how he has been "snaking" wires over two decades, and it shows. Elliot patched up the drywall that he needed to cut to pass the wiring, and cared for our house as if it was his own. They were able to install the inverter in our garage (in case I decide to upgrade to an electric car in the future, and to increase the longevity of the inverter) even though our electrical panel is on the opposite side of our house from our garage. Additionally, Rob includes production and consumption monitoring in all of his installations. The SolarEdge app is easy to understand, and shows the per-panel daily production, along with production/consumption values over time. I find myself cheering on our solar panels throughout the day, and it is exciting to see how much energy we can harvest even on cloudy days. Now is a great time to go solar in Virginia. The Federal tax rebate is still in effect (26% of the purchase price for 2020), but is scheduled to drop to 22% next year, and then 0% after that. The price of solar has decreased dramatically over the past decade, so even if you have looked into going solar in the past it is worth a second look. I took advantage of recently passed legislation that allows homeowners in Dominion territory to install systems that will provide up to 150% of their current usage, so my family's energy needs should be met for the foreseeable future and I'll get a larger Federal tax rebate. Additionally solar renewable energy credit (SREC) trading will start in Virginia in January, which will decrease the time it takes for the system to pay for itself. We highly recommend Sky NRG Solar for your solar project! After reviewing several installers within the DMV area, we decided to go with them, and we could not be happier with our experience working with them on our project.  Our unique challenge was finding a solar installer willing to incorporate a home battery backup system, a task many shy away from due to its complexity. After evaluating several installers, Sky NRG Solar stood out as the only one capable of addressing our technical queries and proposing a cost-effective solution. We owe our decision to Megan Waters, Sky NRG's Vice President of Business Development, who won us over with her expertise.  What also impressed us with Sky NRG was their crew. All were company employees, and we met them during our initial site review and throughout the installation process. They were all easy to work with and professional, especially Juan, their head electrician, who kept us up-to-date throughout the process. We also really appreciate the owner, Robert Mudry, and Megan dropping by during the initial site review and installation to see how things were going. Regarding what we had installed, we wanted backup batteries since we occasionally experience power outages (solar alone will not provide you power during an outage, FYI). We anticipate more outages as the weather becomes more volatile due to climate change, especially since we have a lot of old-growth trees in our neighborhood. We went with the Enphase IQ system in order to have a seamless (only one app) and instantaneous backup system, which included 3 Enphase 5P batteries (total of 15kWh) along with their supporting models (Enphase Controller, Combiner, and microinverters). Sky NRG wired it for whole-house backup with a load-shedding module that automatically shuts off up to four circuits/electrical appliances (e.g., air conditioning, dryer, EV charger, etc.), which meant we did not need to add a sub-panel. The load-shedding module was the item that sold us with Sky NRG since no other solar installer mentioned that as an option. Other installers would push for a SPAM (smart) electrical panel, which can be expensive and was not something we needed. That said, SkyNRG does install SPAM panels, which might be the right choice for your situation. Based on what could fit on our south-facing roof, we went with 22 REC panels (~9kW) for solar panels.  Our experience with Sky NRG Solar was nothing short of exceptional. Over the last month, the team at SkyNRG installed a 9.7kW system at our home. The 27 panel and 10kW inverter install only took one day; however, because of Covid-19 we deferred work inside the house until a later date. Rob was happy to accommodate this delay and was able to bring up 9 of the panels that did not require house access. Within the last week, we decided to have Elliott (the SkyNRG electrician) come into the house alone (masked and gloved up) and finish up the main attic wiring. We're now fully operational and producing significant energy from all of the 360W Solaria panels. The panels were expertly and quickly installed with the inverter placed next the electrical panels. The panels are black with practically invisible traces and mounting hardware. In his usual install manner, Rob and the crew hid all conduit and wiring. There is no exposed conduit anywhere on the house. Additionally, Elliott ran the panel feeds into the back of the inverter; thus, there is no exposed conduit at the inverter - just a white box hanging on the wall. Along with the panels and inverter, a wattNode consumption meter was wired into the main panels that allows us to monitor our energy production and consumption. And finally, a 14-50 240v outlet for eV charging was also installed, again with no exposed wiring. We are very pleased with the install, and most importantly, the experience of planning and delivery of the solar system. Rob generated a detailed install plan along with descriptions of the entire system including panels, the inverter and consumption meter. He handled all the necessary county permitting and worked with the utility for net metering approval. Rob is always reachable and willing to swing into action when necessary. They stand behind their installations and will do whatever is required to ensure you're producing energy - as long as the sun shines. read more

I did a lot of research for the right company when I was making plans for Solar.  There were many companies that I spoke with and NONE really stood out besides SkyNRG.  When I first met with Robert (Owner), I made sure Robert understood my concerns.  He assured me that the job would be very professional and it would be aesthetic looking.  I really wanted Robert to know my feelings on doing the job properly.  I rather that the contractor take his/her time to do the job correctly the first time than to rush and cut corners. I also had concerns about the cost and the down payment.  Robert's costs were very competitive compared to many of the other Solar companies; therefore, I did not feel the need to negotiate with him.  My other concern was the down payment; my family and I did not want to drop a large amount of down payment to a company that we never worked with before and have them disappear or make excuses for not doing the work.  I raised this concern with Robert.  Robert was VERY understanding to all my concerns.  He worked to comprise with my concerns; which my family and I extremely APPRECIATED!!   Once, the installation was completed we were extremely impressed and appreciative.  The work was very professional and very esthetically pleasing.  After Robert's crew finished the job he stayed in touch with me and he followed up.  He also helped with the utility company when I had concerns about how they were crediting my excess production.  I greatly appreciate him for going out of his way to help us.  Most companies would leave you once they get paid, Robert on the other hand stayed in touch.  He ensured that the system is working properly and was very patient with the many questions we had with the system. read more

We recently contracted with Sky NRG Solar to add a battery backup to our existing solar system. From the time of our initial contact through project completion, Robert and his team were incredibly responsive. After taking careful consideration of our system and our household needs, they developed a battery backup solution that works well for us. I researched and evaluated about 5-6 companies who install residential Solar Power plants. With my engineering roots, I can confidently state Sky NRG is the best out there, bar none. I was impressed with his ability to examine the roof orientation in relation to the sun for each season. He is detail oriented and strives to deliver a top notch installation. We had a very good experience with Sky NRG, which installed solar panels on our Arlington home in 2022. They were a pleasure to deal with throughout the process -- very responsive; estimates on timing for the installation were quite accurate; and highly professional (and pleasant) during the installation process. WE NEEDED maintenance on our system but found that working through the customer service people for a couple firms drove us crazy. It felt as though they wanted to make it as cumbersome and slow as possible in order for US to get them to take our business. We called NRG and immediately received an accommodating and "do it" attitude. We were impressed but were in for a much better experience because the technicians who came to our home were personable, efficient, and gave us a sense of reliability.
