The payment invoice we easy to understand and every step of the way was explained to us. I decided to research having solar panels installed on our house earlier this year. We have 2 EVs and were looking for a way to offset the energy used plus invest in our house. I spoke with a total of 6 companies. Jesse Carl, the sales rep for Key Solar, was by far the most responsive, accommodating, and offered the best price and panel/ inverter options. Post sales Jesse was quick to respond whenever I had a question. Approvals were a breeze since Jesse took care of it, and the install team were all nice and respectful employees of Key Solar. I also love that the install team takes great pride in their work and it shows in the details, for instance installing power conduits unobtrusively so it blends in with the existing house structure. Installation did take a while to complete since I had several panels to install and added critterguards, but Billy the Operations Manager was responsive and did a good job getting everything scheduled. Only complaint I have is not loading up the south side of the house with more panels; looking at the data the south side produces twice as much energy as the other locations on my house. If you are considering solar, go with Key Solar and be sure to load up the south side of your house with as much panels as possible! read more

When we were considering solar, we got 8 different estimates, and many were close in cost. The huge difference with Key Solar Solutions was their reputation for excellent customer service and this was demonstrated early on by how quickly they responded to any question or concern we had. There are a lot of businesses that could learn a thing or two from this team and what excellent service means. They usually respond to our email or call within an hour or two. Try that with any of the huge, multi-state contractors... You will be lucky to hear from them within a month or two.. Our salesperson (Jesse Carl) took the time to answer any and all questions we had. He was very patient, very informative and his presentation was excellent. Once we signed on, the Office Manager (Nicole Runde) was always in touch with us and kept us informed throughout the entire process. When we had any questions or concerns, we would send her an email and often within minutes to an hour, she would reply. We chose a ground-mount array, which takes considerably more preparation and work. The installation crew arrived at our property as scheduled and went straight to work. They were professional, polite and worked tirelessly during the installation and completed it on time. The owner of Key Solar Solutions (Jesse Pilcher) would regularly stop at our job site throughout the process and always took the time to explain everything that was going on and what to expect. He is an easy-going type person who is honest and believes in treating the customers with the respect they deserve. He is super nice to work with as well as his entire team, who made this experience very user friendly. After the installation was complete, and turned on, it performed exactly as they described, if not a little better. We couldn't be happier with this investment and Key Solar Solutions. Shortly after our job was completed, we had a few questions and concerns about the SRECs and a few other random questions. One quick email to Nicole at the office and all concerns were quickly addressed put to rest. For us, one of the biggest deciding factors why we chose Key Solar was based on all the excellent reviews concerning the excellent service they provide not only during the installation of the solar system, but the continued level of excellent service afterward and they have certainly lived up to their reputation. KeySolar is only good at marketing when trying to win your business as a new customer. Immediately your solar panel has an issue, they treat you like trash, ignore you and fail to show up for days without being concerned that your system is not generating power and your bills have gone up astronomically. My system has not generated power for almost two months and there is no sense of urgency for them to come fix it. They are only busy marketing to new customers and ignore existing customers claiming staff shortage. read more

I had my solar system set up by Key Solar Solutions about 6 years ago and was very happy about it. Recently, I noticed the volume of electricity generated is unusually low compared to previous years. I had a similar issue like that 3 years ago and the problem was solved in no time by Key Solar. Thereore, I called Jesse, the owner, and got immediate response again. Nikolay, the technician was sent to my place and diagnosed the problem. Like last time, after a new inverter was replaced, the problem was solved. Incredible customer service! Jesse Pilcher went above and beyond my expectations. I have a background in sales and finance so by no means am I an easy sale (extremely difficult actually). Jesse and his company bent over backwards to make the deal happen. We originally were quoted with a very good interest rate on the loan for the system and due to technical issues the financing company was not able to make it happen. Jesse contacted other companies and negotiated the lower rate for us. We also wanted to get the tax credit this year and it was going to be super tight but Jesse also got his crew out the week before Christmas and got it done. The entire transaction felt more like a family member trying to get the best deal for us. I would HIGHLY recommend their company/services. We had two previous quotes from other solar energy companies of which all ending in a discontinuation of communications after they couldn't overcome questions about energy production and cost effectiveness. UPDATE: 2/24/21 It has been about 3 years since the original install. If any of you are concerned about Key Solar being a smaller company don't be. Smaller companies give you personalized service and treat you like family. We have had minor issues along the way but Jesse was on top of it. He monitors the solar energy app to check for potential outages and repairs any issues promptly. Also in 2020 Jesse and Team helped me setup my account to sell the SRECS, this was the first year they were worth a significant amount of money. Our total electric bill for the year was around $950; we sold the 2020 SRECS for $850. This was just gravy on top of the already lower electric bills. Our previous average was $250 per month ($3,000) a year. We are moving to a new house and are considering solar. If we decide to move forward, Key Solar will be our go to company. I know they have a much bigger team now as well; service is still excellent! UPDATE!!! 5/12/21 We have since sold this home that Key Solar installed the wonderful solar panels on. They greatly increased our home value and landed us an offer which was $50K above asking. Jesse and team also helped transition all of the existing warranties AND SRECS to the new buyer. They are an incredible team and company. I was with them when they were a smaller company and decided to give them a shot since Jesse Pilcher (owner) seemed like a straight shooter, super nice, ethical and honest guy. He does NOT disappoint. Everything he said whether or not it was on the contract he honored. We moved up north to Urbana and are working with Key Solar to put panels on our new NV Home. UPDATE 12/8/22 We finally ended up getting solar at our new NV Home in Urbana. Much of the delay was just researching on my end to see if putting solar on our new home would void any warranties. After I sorted all of that out, we did go with Jesse / Key Solar. I put the bid out with several other large solar companies (Sunrun being one of them). Jesse beat the price for the same product AND got a better interest rate. Since I already had a working relationship with Jesse and his company, I was VERY comfortable using Key Solar again. One big deciding factor was the rumors I heard that the large companies only want to get the intial deal done and that it was very difficult to get anyone out to fix future problems. Read my early reviews, you will definitely not have this problem with Key Solar. We went with a 15.03 MWh system with 31 panels. Jesse even upgraded the panels at no charge to us. If you're even considering getting solar installed, definitely talk to Key Solar. Everyone is friendly, informative and helpful. They figured out how to support 100% of the electricity usage for our house and our plug-in hybrid. I'm saving at least $100/month between my electric bill and gas for my car. So it's one thing to be good when you're trying to sell, but entirely different once the deal is done. We've had two minor problems (not Key Solar's fault but both affected their work). We recently purchased Solar after meeting with Key Solar Solutions. Jesse Carl was very knowledgeable and professional in addressing all of our questions and concerns. I am convinced the purchase program through Key Solar Solutions is superior to the lease programs. They handled the process from start to finish and the crew was in and out with a very efficient one day installation. The install job was better than other companies I've seen in that Key Solar made sure to hide all of the wiring/conduit as best as possible. Had solar panels put in last summer. Best decision we have made for updating the house. Everyone was super nice, not pushy at all. I felt during the whole process that if it wasn't going to be beneficial for our house they wouldn't have continued. Everything went smoothly and the installation looks great!!! In May, I purchased solar panels from Jesse Carl at Key Solar Solutions and I'm currently in the process of waiting for my solar panels to be installed. So far, working with Jesse Carl has been an absolute pleasure. He's very pleasant and not pushy or aggressive like a lot of sales people can be. He handled the entire process of getting the approval from my HOA, including getting neighbors signatures! He's very responsive, sometimes even answering my text messages at 11 pm in the evening. He designed a system that would meet all of our current electricity needs and gave us 50% more capacity for future growth which will be necessary when I buy my first electric car this fall.
