The first time I worked with David Williams himself - my fridge's outlet kept going out, and then coming back on. David walked through steps to test the outlet, the circuit breaker, the grounding circuit and some other tests before he would come out and charge me. It was a nice touch. Trouble shooting took a few trips out, but he was very easy to reach as we tested. Next they came out to fix some really dangerous wiring in our attic after our roof was replaced. Installation went fine. The last trip out they installed new recessed lighting in our living room and a new chandelier and a two dimmer switches. We bought the chandelier, but they provided the recessed lighting. In all cases, dry wall is repaired to flat surface ready for painting - but they do the painting themselves. Jobs are generally paid for by service, not hours, so you know what it will cost up front - baring any surprises when they open an outlet and find that it's been wired to two circuit breakers by the pervious owner, or your attic fan apparently has 2 sources of electricity ...

I prefer mom and pop shops to chain stores. Sometimes it's a bit busy in there, but you do get very personalized attention. I took 2 lamps to be repaired there and they charged me only $20 apiece. I also took a chandelier to have some work done and get cleaned up, and they did a beautiful job at a very fair price. It was far less than I expected. I needed a light for a powder room and was trying to decide on a couple. They took down the display models, wired them so I could plug them into an outlet, and let me take them home to check them out in my bathroom. They didn't charge me anything to do so! It's a good thing I did take them home, because the one I thought I preferred would nit work out there. So it was good I had the back up. That one also happened to be on sale, and I got a much better price than I expected. I bought a ceiling fan as well. Upon installing it, the motor wasn't working properly. The store ordered another to replace it. Again, they were very helpful and offered to replace it immediately.

It is certainly overwhelming to consider the scope and scale of a new build, and to think about what you would like the lighting to look like and how you would like it to function when the space doesn't even exist. We had the absolute best time working with Josh. First, he helped us hone our aesthetic vision, and to build cohesion into the lighting design. He also helped us wrestle with the technical challenges of recessed lighting in high slope ceilings. Through the entire process, he gave us the confidence we needed to easily make decisions and to put the vision into action for our home. Throughout the entire process, Josh was highly responsive, he communicated with clarity, and he had a fantastic sense of humor, challenging each of us appropriately when we were stuck in some kind of rut. His efficiency is remarkable and his design eye and skill is obvious. On top of all of this, he produced documentation that clearly conveyed the plan to our electrician, making our recent electrical walkthrough the best one he had ever been on. The electrician told us that most of the time people arrive with little to no clue of what they want, and it is a laborious, frustrating and overwhelming process. We arrived with our Josh plans and knew exactly where things were going to be and what they would look like. We are very excited to see this house come into reality. We just purchased a house in downtown Frederick so we have been having a lot of work done by several companies. Long Electric has been the most pleasant to work with. Melissa is very responsive to emails and questions. Right before work was scheduled to start, we actually found out we needed approval from HPC before having the job done and Long Electric was super flexible when we needed to reschedule last minute. I was also very impressed with their etiquette. They had had to come in and out in of the house all day to access the panel downstairs and they were so careful to keep our floor clean (it had just snowed outside) by setting up a tarp from the door to the basement. One of the guys even pointed out a completely separate issue he happened to see regarding a pipe that needed our attention--I was so grateful for this heads up because I never would have noticed and it could have led to a costly disaster! My previous review focused on the highly professional Jason Long (company owner) when he came to provide a very reasonable estimate, on the spot, and recommended an install solution that was hands down the most brilliant compared to other local estimates. This review is just as positives when his crew (Shawn, Jamie, Jeff, Tom, and yes, even Jason) arrived early, on time and performed an incredible dance of interior/exterior communication, quality work, and a very thorough orientation of all the new equipment. I used Long Electrical to install two safety outlets that were identified as needs during the sale inspection of my home in Frederick. This company is very easy to work with, and they respond rapidly to your inquiry. There were no hidden costs, and their service electrician was on time and very courteous. I was his first appointment of the day (7 am) and he even called me on the phone to let me know he was at the house before knocking on the door :) He was in and out in a jiffy too! I found Long was much better than Michael's, who I had a contract with last year (unfortunately) and found to be way overpriced and not very customer-oriented. We had gotten several quotes from other companies but Long Electric was more knowledgeable, less costly and more professional then the other companies. Long Electric saved my whole weekend! My neighbor recommended Long Electric recently when our power went out (due to extremely high winds) and my Generac generator would not turn on. My husband was not home and I could not reach our electrician. I called Long Electric and Melissa was so friendly, informative, and responded quickly by getting me on their work schedule. Long Electric installed a Generac generator at our home 3 years ago. Their price was highly competitive (I had 2 other bids) and the generator they installed has run beautifully. I was impressed by their ability to set a near-term date to install the generator, when the other two bidders couldn't because of supply isues. Back then derechos and other nasty storms had factory production of home generators backed up--a fact which did not affect Long Electric, since they are a Generac dealer and had on-site inventory. Long did the installation well and their maintenance service has been excellent. Good company! read more

The installation technicians were very professional, nice, and worked hard for a difficult fan install. They made sure to go the extra mile to clean up and vacuum any mess that was created. Very good value for the work performed. The in house customer service was great, however it took a while to get my quote after initial consult, and the head electrician who performs the estimate should really work on his people skills, he came across abrasive and cold like he didn't want to there to my wife and I wanted to look for another contractor, but gave him the benefit of the doubt and his employees made up for it. read more

The electrical in my Potomac house was setup by long electric and it was setup correctly. The power goes off during the Windy storm and the whole house generator did not kick in. I called Long Electric and find out the Unit was not maintained under them. Melissa was able to find a engineer and send him in within 1.5 hours. Jimmie fixed the problem and ran a full test with me. This morning at 5:00am my power went off. 10-15 seconds later I heard the startup of my new generator. About 10 seconds after that, my home lit up nice and bright. Everything happened just as it was explained to me by your techs. The power seems constant. The lights appear just as they would normally. There is no fluttering of the bulbs. I was advised the technicians would be at my house between 0700-0800. At 0710 the two technicians arrived and went to work. Turns out it was indeed pepcos thermostat that was malfunctioning and not my furnace. Because i was impressed with his service, I bought a new thermostat and installation on site from Eury. I simply don't trust Pepco to take responsibility for their own product and get out here to fix it, so I paid the $250 charge to A&S to actually fix my problem.
