I have been with Softcom for literally decades and I am very loyal, but over the past 3 weeks or so, I can't get them to answer emails (to sales or tech) I am sending on a dire cPanel warning for my email. I am now moving my email hosting to another company, sadly. I am very loyal but not being able to get a response to my business inquiries is problematic, and I can't lose my business email, ever. I moved to Easy DNS and they have responded promptly and have many instructional items that have helped me move my email for my business to a much cheaper and more helpful place. I am sorry for what I perceive as Softcom going down over the years and not innovating-- I hired them way back in the early 00's (maybe even the 90s, I am not sure) when we still had dial up from an ad and they were great while they lasted, but they appear to be brokers, not direct providers, at least for my services. RIP Softcom and best of luck to Maribel and whoever else is still working there, but as I can't reach you or get answers after about 7 emails on a question over 2-3 weeks, I can't risk my email and am saying cest la vie. read more

My household's relationship with Softcom over the past 7 years has been quite a roller coaster. My wife and I moved to rural Galt in 2016 and were prepared to accept the realities of rural internet offerings. We had realistic expectations of less bandwidth and higher prices. Though not ideal, such was the reality. For many years, we paid $100-$110/mo for 8-10Mbps Down and 2Mbps Up, and managed to get by with this bandwidth while both working remote in technology. In the years that passed, we'd received relatively stable and expected speeds and an average customer service experience. But the lack of improvement in bandwidth took its toll over time. In 2022, we had the option to leave Softcom for a similarly priced offering at 20x the download speeds and about 5x the upload speeds. This alternative offering worked out well for us for many months until we began to receive notifications of bandwidth throttling. As my wife and I both needed unlimited data plans in order to continue our work lives, we listed and reviewed currently available providers in the area and found that Softcom now has much higher speed offerings at similar and/or lower prices. We made the decision to re-subscribe to Softcom, and volunteered to beta test their new speeds at 400Mbps Down and 30Mbps Up. After a few months, we're very satisfied with the new speed and price offerings that Softcom is currently providing. It seems like the customer service has also taken a step forward as well. The average American household broadband speed in 2022 is 119Mbps. We are taking away 1 star on this review due to Softcom's sluggish innovative pace over the past half decade to help the local rural communities reach this average. That said, I think Softcom is finally heading in the right direction. read more

Dealt with over a year of being billed for a service to find out the reason they didn't collect their equipment was because it was removed from the roof due to leaking damages. I'd suggest going with a service that's more reliable and budget friendly such as Starlink. read more

After he had finish and left my house, I tried to connect my devices, but I couldn't do it, I called the office and told them the problem I was having and whiting an hour or so, the technician returned to my house and help me with the problem. just moved to area from Sacramento & couldn't change SSID/PW to pre-existing routers left by previous homeowner. I've done this several times before when we lived in TX, Seattle, Bay Area with different major internet providers w/o any issue. Blake in Tech Support asked me to bring routers to him so he could reconfigure them quickly, as opposed to leaving them for 24 hours, which was so helpful considering we gad a security system setup Appt the following morning. in the past, our router was hacked & I received frightening message from my own emails. First of all, I want to thank Cecilia, their receptionist. She's very helpful, friendly and and precise when she gives information about their plans and service. Second, their technician, even though he was having issues connecting the signal, he never gave up. He was also very helpful and knowledgeable. I am so glad I called - Blake was professional and friendly, but he also went above and beyond by explaining what issues I was having and how the issues were solved. He took the time to listen and make sure I understood what was happening. In addition, he gave me up-to-date information about the towers and service including the expansion for excellent speeds in our area. Softcom knows with the changing times how important it is to not only keep their loyal customers happy but also show new customers that they are in good hands. They are definitely doing that! I seem to not be able to update review. I got my refund back pretty quick. It ended working out because I found a carrier that's way way cheaper anyways. Although price isn't the issue it's not showing up for installation appointment. It may have been operators fault, was told 7am not 7-11 am window time frame. Well, I just found out that ZTE is now servicing Wilton. So, I called ZTE to get a price on switching from Softcom. Here's what I learned about ZTE: Packages Speeds (Download/Upload) Mbps Monthly Pricing ZTE-10 10/3 Mbps $90.00 ZTE-15 15/3 Mbps $115.00 ZTE-25 25/5 Mbps $165.00 ZTE-30 30/5 Mbps $215.00 ZTE-40 40/10 Mbps $315.00 I was pretty irritated because I pay $119.95 to Softcom per month for 8 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload. That's $30 more for less bandwidth!! So, I called Softcom. They gal who answered my call was very unhelpful nor showed any concern or interest in the fact that Softcom might be losing a long time customer. She was terrible. She also stated that there are no price changes for Softcom customers even though Softcom is aware of ZTE's lower prices. Seriously? At this point, ZTE is looking better and better. I am willing to pay $5 per month just to keep my Softcom email. For once, I'd really like to do business with a company that cares about it's customers. Softcom really needs some competition and I'm glad that ZTE is giving it to them. read more

Our internet has been out for over a week due to the storm taking out a tower. Only thing is our neighbor has softcom and his internet is working. When I asked why we can't change to that tower I got a blanket response "it's not possible". This internet is pretty much all we can get right now where we live (and they know this) but as soon as something else is available we will discontinue our service with them. Terrible and expensive. Over 12 years and still going strong. Great technical service and great internet service. When the technician came out he was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Had problems a few years ago, it ended up being the router; they gave me a new one and all was well again. I never check the speed; but pages always load FAST! Softcom is the only available ISP in our area, unfortunately, so we are stuck with it. Poor customer service, low speeds (though we pay for "premium" service) and spotty coverage. Tried making hardware changes (for which they charged full retail +) And didn't help anyway. Had a billing credit card issue and got dinged $50 for "reconnection" and $40 "late fee" because the credit card was compromised and cancelled. Softcom charged the fees despite it being a credit card mixup. Real heartwarming and boosts customer loyalty. They're gone as soon as anyone with a tin can and a string shows up: they'd be better. read more

The technical support from this company is lacking. They are basically just open during regular business hours. If your internet is down, you can't call to report it until after 9am. I have been using Softcom for seven years and have been extremely happy with them Their bandwidth is excellent and service good. Sure, I'd like better service hours but the stability of my Internet connection really doesn't require it. The few times there was a problem, it was alway quickly resolved. I did have to leave Softcom at one point when an older technology was not working well for me in the country. I had no issues with closing my account nor getting a refund for the hardware. When WiMax and then Point-to-Point was offered, my account was quickly and easily reactivated. The degree that Softcom went to get me set up and dialed in perfectly was amazing. I now enjoy speeds nearly unheard of outside city limits unless you are on LTE which of course comes with crazy low limits. My bandwidth usage would waste Verizon's best plan in a few days leaving me to pay thousands a month while there are no limits on my Softcom account. The team at Softcom is a great group of people that care about your Internet needs and are their to help when you call. Otherwise, you just enjoy the awesome service. read more

We started with Softcom fixed wireless again 3 months ago after a 5-year hiatus. They are now doing an excellent job in every respect - technology, service, customer service, responsiveness to problems. We are routinely getting 100% reliability and faster downloads (6mbps+) at a lesser price than we were paying for 10% of that speed with others. Five years ago, every single thing about dealing with Softcom was intensely frustrating, from poor and unreliable signal to abysmal customer service. They've turned it around completely and are now by far the best option in the Galt area. Give them a chance! read more

We have had literally an impossible time Getting internet! But softcom has done it! It took a tower and three dudes but they did it! And did not try to sell us a router and they saved us $100 because our originally expected 30 foot tower only ended up needing 20 feet so awesome! All of them were very professional considering it was 100+ outside. Now we can help our kiddo with his speech and actually download games, my husband can actually work from home and I can run my retail business without using all the data on my phone. Yay! I would like to share with everyone, that I think tech support rocks. I had to call Sunday for intermittent connection issues. I shared with the support person over the phone what troubleshooting (cleaned temp internet files, booted computer, router, antenna) I had done before I made the call. Unlike other places I've called in the past, he heard what I told him. That said, he didn't run through the troubleshooting script. He said he would look at a few things and call me back in 10-15 minutes. True to his word, he called back within that time frame, and said it sounds like a antenna alinement issue, and support would call me on Monday morning to setup a time for someone to come out. Long story short, Sean just left the house after resolving the issue on the roof. From call for problems, to resolve was less than 24 hours, with a tech coming out to the house. Great job Softcom !!! Additional information I will add for anyone looking for a great internet service. First, I've experienced over 99% connectivity, in that, they have very little downtime. They also offer unlimited usage on a wireless service. I know many companies offer so called "unlimited" service, however Softcom has a truly use all you want policy, at great speeds day or night. read more

This company is consistent though; their customer service matches their internet service - both are deplorable and disgustingly AWFUL!! When they system check our speed, "we are getting what we paid for." When WE check it, when service is working - it's ALWAYS slower, and has been for well over 2 years. one of the only businesses where you can pay $350 a month with promises of 50/3 mbps up/down, and in reality, get 3/1 mbps up/down on a good day. A good network should only have to have its router reset a dozen or so times a year. Without exaggeration, I reset the router maybe a dozen times a day, and it still doesn't work. I can have a single bar of LTE cellular, and still get a better connection than I get with Softcom. Their troubleshooting is worthless. Their most expensive plan with their most expensive equipment is worthless. Our wifi has been out for several days now, and I'm not even surprised. If you stream on two or more devices, even the most expensive plan is worthless. And the worst part? They get away with it! If you are using Softcom, you probably live in the country, so they can restrict your usage and jack up the prices as much as they want with soft limits, and long response times.
