Whenever I get a chance to visit Florida, I'm always on the lookout for any Cuban or Puerto Rican restaurant where I can get some skirt steak and sweet plantains. It didn't take long for Sofrito's to come up in my Yelp search. I'm not exaggerating when I say we had a feast. We ordered churrasco, rice, red beans and sweet plantains, a tripleta, tostones and croquetas. OMG! Everything was so delicious! Even my kid's chicken fingers were perfectly breaded and so crispy. Their mojito was by far the best one I had in my vacation. I was sad it was the very last day of our vacation because otherwise, I would have been back for more. read more

I'd give this place 10 STARS if that was possible. I wanna bring this restaurant home with me!! This food is AMAZING! We just happened to be staying at a nearby hotel, curiosity got the best of me and I'm so glad. We ordered takeout of so many different items & loved every bit of it. I've never seen a restaurant serve 4 different types of empanadas & this place did all 4 perfectly. The Argentinian was my least favorite but still tasty. I recommend getting all 4, they're priced right so don't deprive your tastebuds. I ordered the churrasco dinner, medium rare, and it was cooked beautifully. I've learned that thin cut meats can be hit or miss...this was the most tender, flavorful HIT I've ever tasted. I really could go on and on describing each and every item but I think you should stop reading, stop searching, stop scrolling and go to Sofrito's ahora (right now!)!!!!! I would seriously consider driving all the way from Tampa just to eat here. I will definitely be back! read more

Delicious food, outdoor seating, reasonable prices and great service. What more could you ask for??!!! I had the occasion to stop in for a bite on a Tuesday evening. Upon walking in I was greeted by a young lady who asked if it was my first visit and took the time to explain that I would need to order first using one of the menu boards and then find a seed of my choice and the food would be brought out. With the menu in hand, I struggled to pick just one entrée because of the large variety of options. I finally settled on a Cuban sandwich, Nutella empanada, yellow rice and red beans. While I knew I probably could not eat everything, I was determined to try to taste it all. I was blown away by every aspect of my meal with the exception of not receiving one of the side items and receiving the fried dessert along with the main entrée items despite being told that it would come later while ordering. That said, when I brought the missing side item to the attention of the server, it was brought out in 2 minutes and the empanada dessert, it was still warm and tasty after sitting for 10 -15 minutes. This is a solid option if in the area. Without question, I would return. read more

Yes this place is utterly AMAZING. Beginning to end wholeheartedly IMPRESSIVE. I know caps, chill right. Must give credit where it is deserved. Honestly at first I wasn't sure what to expect. Well I didn't get why they had the fast food like, cafeteria way of ordering food. You know, stand in line at the cash register and they will bring your food. Whatever, not a big deal. We ordered the shredded beef cachapa and the steak chimmichurri with fried bananas and tostones. OMG GREAT. Both of them were a home run with flavor. Can't even explain how good it was and the chimmichurri sauce too yes for sure! We ordered guava and passion fruit juice to wash it down. Guava juice was better in my opinion. We also took alfajores, pan de bono, and a Nutella empanadas to go. The alfajores and pan de bono were so good. Of course I had to find it locally the next day and they could not compare to how good they were at Sofrito. This is a definite must stop spot. They also have an outside. We sat inside. read more

One of the more hip locations around the Disney/Vineland Area, Sofrito has a cool aesthetic inside and an artisan approach to street style Mexican/Latin American food. Granted, I asked for platanos (instead of rice) and would have loved a somewhat sweet way to end the meal...the rice was really good. Everything was super flavorful and enjoyable. Kinda disappointed by the vegetarian selection (especially since they have 3 or 4 styles of empanadas), but it is what it is. Probably wouldn't go back, but only for lack of veg options. The food was good, but the service was poor. This place has two systems for ordering and non of them included table service , but they still want you to tip. Even when you have to literally pick up your silverware(no plastic)and they bring you dessert before food .It's a mix of restaurant (price and food presentation) with fast food .They have a lot of staff just standing around, but every time you need something you will have to go and ask several times , even water which is not offered or have a place for you to self serve . Like I said before food was ok , but I rather spend the same amount of money or more with someone that values costumers and have their business vision clear , you can't be charging restaurant prices due to presentation and place ambiance and wanting me to do servers jobs ( no offense). read more

Tripleta proved not to be a Cuban on steroids I was thinking it may be. Still a good (and quite HUGE) sandwich as there are quite a long list of goods in between the pressed cuban-ish bread. This is HUGE when compared to a Shack's shoe size. Tostones proved to be the missing star. No warmth and super dry. The dipping sauce was worthy, but not enough to pull it off as served. Next time we'll try their "Sofrito Special" fries. The fried Yucca al Cilantro Mojo was just shy of amazing. Their mojo has now set a new standard for others to exceed. So buttery and delicious. The sweet plantains too were a real delight with the crunchy fried like textures and nicely sweet bites. Everything ordered is a good size of servings easily shared for the cash tendered. Table service was fast and attentive. DON'T MISS OUT ON THE YELP $5.00 discount by checking in AFTER you have ordered and paid- like I did! read more

Food was okay, not bad but not anything special. The coffee was quite good however. The main detractor here was the service. You order on a computer screen when you come in, which I'm not a fan of. The table service is less than enthusiastic and they won't bring you so much as water, utensils or napkins. The empanada came LOADED with shredded beef and this empanada didn't skimp out on quality. It tastes so good when you dip it with the green sauce and it was chef's kiss. I think this is the best empanada I ever had and when I tried other empanada, it doesn't even compare to this. I ordered another dish but I forgot the name and it's soo good. I was a little disappointed because the menu said pick 3 sides and I chose all beef. Alfredo didn't mention to me that there would be an additional charge for the beef. As a result, I had to pay an additional $10 which was very pricey and didn't find out until I received my bill and saw the charge. I didn't make any complaints because the employees seem not to speak English well and it's hard to be a foreigner trying to adapt to the culture and the language. But this is soo good and I can see why the reviews on yelp are all stellar.

Cons- There is ALWAYS a weird perm smell when you go. It literally smells like someone is perming their hair, so not good. Another con is sometimes it takes long to get your food. And last but not least, I think their prices are not reasonable lately. Some of the prices do not match their menu, not sure when they raised their prices but I have never ever heard of a patacon costing almost $26 anywhere, and I frequent a lot of Venezuelan spots. Their name went from Q'Kenan restaurant to Q'Kenan Steakhouse so maybe now they just raised all the prices, I don't know. Their most expensive patacon on the menu is the one with Picańha and it says $17...yet I got charged 25.90. Regardless of how good something is, there shouldn't be a $9 difference from what is on the menu. That is absurd. On my last trip- $43 for an empanada, tequeńos and a patacon just doesn't sound right for Venezuelan food, and I come from living in Miami where restaurants are supposed to be more expensive. Add a tip and you're paying over $50 for street food. That's wild.

The interaction became uncomfortable, and the server continued to give us what felt like dirty looks for the remainder of our visit. The situation left us feeling unwelcome and ultimately made us want to leave. I've included a photo so others can decide for themselves whether what was served matches the description of a garlic/mojo sauce.

Disclaimer: this review is for the lunch buffet only…read more I went with my family to try the $18.49 all you can eat lunch buffet. This was my first time experiencing a buffet for hispanic food and for this price point in Orlando, this is an amazing value deal. The server regularly brought us out silverware, napkins, and refilled our water. The place is decorated very fun and plays latin music which was lovely Not only was there an unlimited assortment of lunch foods, but an entire bar of fresh toppings for tacos (or rice bowls) and made to order desserts which were included for free! Not everything on the buffet line was the best but given the amount of options, price, and how good the great items are this is still worth a five star rating. I unfortunately did not take pictures of the food before I began devouring everything in sight to the point of near-collapse, but I will do a quick rundown of the buffet highlights: The best meats were the fajita steak, chicken, and shrimp made fresh in cast iron skillets, as well as the chicken lengua which was super flavorful and tender. The mexican rice, beans, fajitas, plantains, and street corn were also excellent. Fresh quesadillas, chips, and corn tortillas on standby with homemade queso and salsas. The flan and mini churros were the best I've ever had. Super rich, decadent Carmel flan. Mini churros hot and crisp on the outside, filled with a gooey soft milk chocolate center. They were delicious. Items that were disappointing: the tamales, mini chicken flautas, and beef chimichangas were just okay, lacking the seasoning and flavor that other dishes had. The beef barbacoa was not as tender or flavorful as the shredded chicken surprisingly. The mixed seafood was itself a mixed bag with some shrimps / scallops overcooked to much while others were perfectly cooked. The chicken mole and beef tri tip were room temperature despite sitting on hot plates. The tri tip also varied widely in doneness throughout the slices and not super tender. The rice pudding was pretty standard, and the tres leches cake was weird as they crumbled the cake into pieces before soaking it.

Bahama Breeze

Still a Favorite After 30 Years!…read more I've been a frequent diner at Bahama Breeze for the past 30 years, so it's safe to say I'm a fan! My most recent visit to the Vineland Ave. location near the outlets was for a date night, and overall, we had a really enjoyable experience. We started with several margaritas, and they were vibrant, flavorful, and a great way to kick off the evening. We also enjoyed the yuca sticks and coconut shrimp -- both were delicious. The one big miss of the night was the tostones with chicken. The fried plantains were burnt, there was very little chicken, and unfortunately, there was none of the jerk seasoning that really brings this dish together. That was disappointing, especially since the flavors are what make this appetizer stand out. That said, I'm chalking it up to an off night. One dish isn't going to change my opinion after three decades of enjoying Bahama Breeze. I still love the restaurant, the atmosphere, and the overall experience -- and I'll definitely be back soon! Hopefully the tostones are back to their usual standard on my next visit.

Bahama Breeze is a restaurant themed as if it's in the islands. The outdoor area features fans and…read moregarden lights, but unlike the islands, it has no ocean breeze as it's located just off 535 in Florida. Therefore, we opted for indoor seating and the delightful air conditioning in today's 97 degree heat. The food was very good. The Jamaican jerk chicken wings are seasoned well. This time, they were slightly dry instead of perfect like last time. The grilled chicken with cilantro-crema, mashed potatoes and corn remains my favorite dish on the menu. Ask for a side of the sauce too; it's that good. The cheeseburger and fries was standard and okay but unremarkable, which means it was perfect for my mom who is a picky eater and not adventurous. Pro-Tip: if you are headed somewhere with a refrigerator, order the full portion of the grilled chicken with cilantro-cream and take one breast and some mashed potatoes home for another meal. The full portion is only $3 more than the light version, but comes with a second piece of chicken breast. Otherwise, save the $3 because one breast is plenty filling. You could also consider sharing the full portion plate to save room (and money) for apps or dessert. We chose the flaming pineapple butter cake for dessert. It arrived piled high with pineapples and vanilla ice cream on the side. When the server lit the sauce then poured it, the flames danced. However, not all the alcohol burns off. The cake was saturated and tasted of alcohol where it was poured. Warning: Check your receipt. We were charged $2.99 for trivia games we did not play and $0.50 extra for cheese when the item ordered was a cheeseburger listed as coming with cheese on the menu for $18.99.

Sofrito Latin Café offers a delightful escape into the vibrant and rich world of Latin American flavors. Located in a cozy, inviting space, the restaurant captures the essence of Latin cuisine with a modern twist. The atmosphere is casual yet lively, with bright decor that instantly transports you to a warm, tropical destination. The menu is a celebration of Latin American staples, featuring a mix of classic and innovative dishes. The mofongo is a standout--fried plantains mashed to perfection and paired with savory meats or seafood, making for a comforting and flavorful dish. The arroz con pollo (rice with chicken) is another favorite, with tender, seasoned chicken and a perfectly cooked rice base that's rich in flavor. For appetizers, the tostones (crispy fried green plantains) served with a tangy garlic dipping sauce are addictive, and the empanadas are equally delicious, with a crispy exterior and savory fillings. The salsa bar offers a nice variety of dipping sauces that complement the bold flavors throughout the meal. One of Sofrito's highlights is its cocktail selection, with expertly crafted mojitos, margaritas, and their signature Sofrito Punch, all featuring fresh ingredients and a strong Latin flair. It's the perfect way to start the meal or end it with a sweet note. Service is warm and attentive, with staff offering helpful recommendations and a genuine enthusiasm for the food they serve. Prices are reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes, making it a great option for both casual outings and special occasions. Overall, Sofrito Latin Café is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the bold, flavorful world of Latin cuisine. With a mix of delicious food, refreshing drinks, and a welcoming ambiance, it's easy to see why this place is a favorite for many. read more

Staff at Sofrito have asked me to write a review. Here it is: We was attracted by the name "Sofrito", especially because my two companions are actually Puerto Rican and they were craving for Puerto Rican food. First thing we asked was for the famous Mofongo, they said that they have it. We ordered a Shrimp mofongo and a Pork mofongo, myself I ordered Roast Pork. While we wait for it we got some empanadas that were delicious, and other appetizers really good. When we got the entrees there was the problem. The mofongo was cold and we doubt about it that it was made on premises. About my roast pork, I was not able to eat it. I try a couple of pieces and I left it in the plate almost untouched. I have never had such a hard rock pieces of pork with a microwave reheated test. Because I am honest i told the server right away. We ended up not eaten our entrees because my companions had similar issues. I was drinking beer and my companions coconut soda. Because the bad test of the food was in our mouth before we left, we ask for one coconut soda to wash it down. We paid our bill in full, even if we did not eat the food, and we left. Can you believe that they rushed out asking us to pay for the last can of soda? Obviously this people does not have any restaurant experience ! Any restaurant if you leave the food untouched will have some kind of compensation, some others will not even charge you for the food you did not eat !. But they didn't care ! they still want to get paid 1,50 for the soda. UNBELIEVABLE!!! read more

Lunch at Sofritos was nothing short of spectacular, just as it always is. From the moment we stepped in, the inviting atmosphere and the rich aromas of the kitchen set the tone for what would be a delightful culinary experience. We kicked off our meal with some refreshing bubbly that sparkled in our glasses, adding a celebratory touch to the occasion. The standout dish was undoubtedly the delightful croquetas. Each bite was a perfect blend of creamy, savory goodness, and they were complemented by a zesty dipping sauce that intensified the flavors. But the real highlight was the amazing arepa. Stuffed to perfection, it was a harmonious mix of textures and flavors that transported us straight to culinary bliss. The warmth of the arepa coupled with the fresh ingredients made it feel like a warm embrace on a plate. As we enjoyed our light lunch, we exchanged stories and laughter, feeling rejuvenated and energized for the rest of the day. There's something incredibly uplifting about a meal shared with good company, and nothing beats the vibrant charm of Sofritos to kickstart our afternoon. #Florida #Orlando #yelpelite #sofritoslatincafe read more

I went to Sofrito Latin Cafe for lunch today and had an incredible experience. This place knows how to make real Latin food that hits all the right spots - everything was fresh, flavorful, and made you feel like family. I tried the churrasco steak with yuca and maduros. The steak was perfectly grilled with a nice char on the outside but still juicy inside. It came with this amazing chimichurri sauce that had just the right amount of garlic and herbs. The yuca was creamy and buttery, and those sweet plantains were caramelized to perfection. Even though it was busy during lunch rush, the energy was positive and welcoming. What impressed me was the attention to detail. My coffee came in a proper cup and saucer, the bread was warm, and everything was seasoned perfectly. You can taste the difference when people take pride in their cooking. For $19, I got a huge meal that was restaurant quality but felt homemade. I'm already telling my friends about this place - it's exactly what Orlando needs more of. read more

We visited this place three years ago and had a fantastic experience, so we were excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. When we ordered lunch to go, we encountered several issues during pickup, but we assumed it was just a one-time problem. We decided to give it another try and came in for dinner today. Sadly, things only got worse. Winni took our order incorrectly, was noticeably rude, and overcharged us. When we asked her to correct the mistake, she responded with an attitude rather than an apology. When the food finally arrived, it was extremely bland and lacked any flavor. To top it off, we ordered dessert, but it was never brought out--we had to specifically ask for it. Overall, this visit was nothing like our first and left us very disappointed. We do not recommend this place anymore. read more

For starters, don't expect a server, you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Ordered a steak dish and the pice was small and dry after I wanted it cooked medium. The small piece I got was $15 for lunch. *Important - Do not take your significant other to this place! Gentleman at the counter kept pushing salsa dance lessons and after 3 times of my wife telling him no thank you, he asked if she was Puerto Rican and then followed that up with asking if her and I were together. Seriously guy? Unbelievable experience, my wife and I will not be back. read more

From time to time, I like to visit new Peruvian food restaurants…read more This time, Mares welcomed us very warm and friendly. We got out table right away and we received chanchita chulpi immediately. It was really good because it tasted very fresh. The order took a bit longer than expected and I noticed that it happened to all the tables. I tried the makis acevichados. The taste was good, but they are not the peruvian makis I have tried for years in Peru. This was something different, but still good. The tacu tacu with lomo saltado, though. It was really good. I liked when it comes with a tick sauce instead of just water. The tacu tacu may have needed to get crispy a little bit, but the flavor was amazing. Finally, they only have option of glass of chicha morada. The taste was really good, I could feel the spices.

I love going to a Peruvian restaurant ( as a Peruvian) that keeps authentic feeling without going…read moreover the top with random "lounge" style decorations and smaller portions. That's what I find here at Memories of Peru. The food tastes authentic and I love listening to hispanic/Peruvian music in the background. In this occasion ordered the ceviche de pescado and it was delicious. It was a large portion to be honest and you get a decent amount of sweet potato on the side. i also ordered an Inca Kola. My server was attentive and checked on me multiple times. I had a great experience overall.
