Are there more stars? We loved this place! Staff at the counter was patient and helpful. They were more than happy to offer explanations and answer questions. The servers were friendly and helpful. I'm not usually a fan of standing in line to order but they were quick and efficient while still helpful and friendly. The food was above and beyond what we expected. We tried a few things we had never had before along with some we are familiar with. It was a very pleasant experience. I had a perfect strawberry margarita and the cachapa with pork even though I don't usually order pork. It was delicious. We shared empanadas, yucca, plantains. I can't even tell you everything we tried because we went back for breakfast. We rarely eat at the same place twice while on vacation but this was the exception. For breakfast I had the arepa de jamon y queso. I hope I got that right - it was the best! I only wish we would have stayed another day so we could try more. The food you deliver is not just food to us, it's an escape. Everything you prepare is magical. The churros give us hope well have churros again one day next to the 4 train at Grand Central Station in New York from our usual street vendors! The marinated pulled pork gives us hope well be able to slow cook a nice pork shoulder when we return home in about a month with fresh herbs from our local gardens. The steak gives us hope that well be able to throw a steak on the grill with our family when we return home. The tres leches makes us miss our latin cuisine back home. Everything you serve is delicious and is the highlight of our day. Thank you for everything you do. You deliver much more than food. Overall a solid meal, but then again I was starving. They have a lot of menu choices from all over Latin America, some good, some average. Had several varieties of the empanadas and they were all delicious; not sure I can pick a favorite. Wife had the rotisserie chicken; it was huge and pretty tasty. I had the roast pork which was nicely seasoned. The Cuban black beans however didn't seem to have much flavor at all, plus it was pretty thin. I'm much more used to black beans heavily flavored with salt, garlic, and thicker consistency. Not a fan even after I added some salt. The coconut flan and churros were probably the highlight of lunch; both highly recommended. read more

I'm so glad I stumbled across this delightful little restaurant. My friend and I popped in for dinner and we both ordered the Churrasco Grilled Steak. The meal comes with three sides and I chose fried yuca, plantains, and black beans. Everything was delicious! I'm normally not a desert person but I had to try the flan and it didn't disappoint. It may have even been better than my mom's flan! I was so impressed with the place I dropped in the following day for lunch. I had the Pabellon Arepa based on the advise of my friend and it was incredible! Admittedly I never considered Latin food to be a favorite of mine, but this restaurant has changed my mind about that. 3.4 worth the money for the lunch special. The flavor of the beef stew was okay but the meat was dry and the rice was hard... is that how it's suppose to be? 2.5 Stars. Good food, but poor customer service. I gone here three times, once in person and two other times with pick up orders. If you order in person, it's slow so I thought I would try take out. They use a system that allows you to order food for pick up at a certain time, but then you are emailed and told the food will be out thirty minutes later. Each time when I picked up the food it tasted like it had been sitting a while like it was cold. For one take out order, I was upset that my food would be out much later than the time I picked (I picked the slot hours in advance to give the restaurant time). I tried to get the order canceled and the manager said to call the delivery service to cancel order because he doesn't have the ability to do it and then the delivery service said the manager refuses to cancel the order and the food will be out on time. The manager ruined this place for me. Never coming back. Skip this place. read more

Simple but done well. Upon entry, I knew I would enjoy this place from the aromas kicking around. Menus are hanging from hooks on the wall and orders are placed at the counter. Grab your number stand and find seating indoors at the table or bar or the covered patio. I ordered the cachapa filled with pulled pork. Wow, I need to find a place back in Chicago that makes this. It's a cornmeal pancake filled with a thick slice of creamy cheese and tender pulled pork. I ordered the Orange Blossom Pilsner which was delightful to wash it down. The empanada came LOADED with shredded beef and this empanada didn't skimp out on quality. It tastes so good when you dip it with the green sauce and it was chef's kiss. I think this is the best empanada I ever had and when I tried other empanada, it doesn't even compare to this. I ordered another dish but I forgot the name and it's soo good. I was a little disappointed because the menu said pick 3 sides and I chose all beef. Alfredo didn't mention to me that there would be an additional charge for the beef. As a result, I had to pay an additional $10 which was very pricey and didn't find out until I received my bill and saw the charge. I didn't make any complaints because the employees seem not to speak English well and it's hard to be a foreigner trying to adapt to the culture and the language. But this is soo good and I can see why the reviews on yelp are all stellar.

Cons- There is ALWAYS a weird perm smell when you go. It literally smells like someone is perming their hair, so not good. Another con is sometimes it takes long to get your food. And last but not least, I think their prices are not reasonable lately. Some of the prices do not match their menu, not sure when they raised their prices but I have never ever heard of a patacon costing almost $26 anywhere, and I frequent a lot of Venezuelan spots. Their name went from Q'Kenan restaurant to Q'Kenan Steakhouse so maybe now they just raised all the prices, I don't know. Their most expensive patacon on the menu is the one with Picańha and it says $17...yet I got charged 25.90. Regardless of how good something is, there shouldn't be a $9 difference from what is on the menu. That is absurd. On my last trip- $43 for an empanada, tequeńos and a patacon just doesn't sound right for Venezuelan food, and I come from living in Miami where restaurants are supposed to be more expensive. Add a tip and you're paying over $50 for street food. That's wild.

They definitely got my attention because there was a big ol' lobster sitting right on top! Now THAT is how you introduce me to a plate of paella. The flavor was really good, the seafood was good, and overall I enjoyed it. My one issue was the peppers and onions. There were a LOT of big chopped pieces that I could clearly see and taste, and for me, that was a little bit of a turnoff. I prefer everything in my paella to blend together a little more. But did that stop me from eating it? Absolutely not. And here's the funny part. I ate the leftovers the next day and somehow it tasted even better! Maybe everything just needed a night to get acquainted because that second-day paella was hitting. So, as your self-appointed traveling paella inspector, I'm giving this one a 8/10. Bahama Breeze

Still a Favorite After 30 Years!…read more I've been a frequent diner at Bahama Breeze for the past 30 years, so it's safe to say I'm a fan! My most recent visit to the Vineland Ave. location near the outlets was for a date night, and overall, we had a really enjoyable experience. We started with several margaritas, and they were vibrant, flavorful, and a great way to kick off the evening. We also enjoyed the yuca sticks and coconut shrimp -- both were delicious. The one big miss of the night was the tostones with chicken. The fried plantains were burnt, there was very little chicken, and unfortunately, there was none of the jerk seasoning that really brings this dish together. That was disappointing, especially since the flavors are what make this appetizer stand out. That said, I'm chalking it up to an off night. One dish isn't going to change my opinion after three decades of enjoying Bahama Breeze. I still love the restaurant, the atmosphere, and the overall experience -- and I'll definitely be back soon! Hopefully the tostones are back to their usual standard on my next visit.

Bahama Breeze is a restaurant themed as if it's in the islands. The outdoor area features fans and…read moregarden lights, but unlike the islands, it has no ocean breeze as it's located just off 535 in Florida. Therefore, we opted for indoor seating and the delightful air conditioning in today's 97 degree heat. The food was very good. The Jamaican jerk chicken wings are seasoned well. This time, they were slightly dry instead of perfect like last time. The grilled chicken with cilantro-crema, mashed potatoes and corn remains my favorite dish on the menu. Ask for a side of the sauce too; it's that good. The cheeseburger and fries was standard and okay but unremarkable, which means it was perfect for my mom who is a picky eater and not adventurous. Pro-Tip: if you are headed somewhere with a refrigerator, order the full portion of the grilled chicken with cilantro-cream and take one breast and some mashed potatoes home for another meal. The full portion is only $3 more than the light version, but comes with a second piece of chicken breast. Otherwise, save the $3 because one breast is plenty filling. You could also consider sharing the full portion plate to save room (and money) for apps or dessert. We chose the flaming pineapple butter cake for dessert. It arrived piled high with pineapples and vanilla ice cream on the side. When the server lit the sauce then poured it, the flames danced. However, not all the alcohol burns off. The cake was saturated and tasted of alcohol where it was poured. Warning: Check your receipt. We were charged $2.99 for trivia games we did not play and $0.50 extra for cheese when the item ordered was a cheeseburger listed as coming with cheese on the menu for $18.99.

Sofrito Latin Café offers a delightful escape into the vibrant and rich world of Latin American flavors. Located in a cozy, inviting space, the restaurant captures the essence of Latin cuisine with a modern twist. The atmosphere is casual yet lively, with bright decor that instantly transports you to a warm, tropical destination. The menu is a celebration of Latin American staples, featuring a mix of classic and innovative dishes. The mofongo is a standout--fried plantains mashed to perfection and paired with savory meats or seafood, making for a comforting and flavorful dish. The arroz con pollo (rice with chicken) is another favorite, with tender, seasoned chicken and a perfectly cooked rice base that's rich in flavor. For appetizers, the tostones (crispy fried green plantains) served with a tangy garlic dipping sauce are addictive, and the empanadas are equally delicious, with a crispy exterior and savory fillings. The salsa bar offers a nice variety of dipping sauces that complement the bold flavors throughout the meal. One of Sofrito's highlights is its cocktail selection, with expertly crafted mojitos, margaritas, and their signature Sofrito Punch, all featuring fresh ingredients and a strong Latin flair. It's the perfect way to start the meal or end it with a sweet note. Service is warm and attentive, with staff offering helpful recommendations and a genuine enthusiasm for the food they serve. Prices are reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes, making it a great option for both casual outings and special occasions. Overall, Sofrito Latin Café is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the bold, flavorful world of Latin cuisine. With a mix of delicious food, refreshing drinks, and a welcoming ambiance, it's easy to see why this place is a favorite for many. read more

Staff at Sofrito have asked me to write a review. Here it is: We was attracted by the name "Sofrito", especially because my two companions are actually Puerto Rican and they were craving for Puerto Rican food. First thing we asked was for the famous Mofongo, they said that they have it. We ordered a Shrimp mofongo and a Pork mofongo, myself I ordered Roast Pork. While we wait for it we got some empanadas that were delicious, and other appetizers really good. When we got the entrees there was the problem. The mofongo was cold and we doubt about it that it was made on premises. About my roast pork, I was not able to eat it. I try a couple of pieces and I left it in the plate almost untouched. I have never had such a hard rock pieces of pork with a microwave reheated test. Because I am honest i told the server right away. We ended up not eaten our entrees because my companions had similar issues. I was drinking beer and my companions coconut soda. Because the bad test of the food was in our mouth before we left, we ask for one coconut soda to wash it down. We paid our bill in full, even if we did not eat the food, and we left. Can you believe that they rushed out asking us to pay for the last can of soda? Obviously this people does not have any restaurant experience ! Any restaurant if you leave the food untouched will have some kind of compensation, some others will not even charge you for the food you did not eat !. But they didn't care ! they still want to get paid 1,50 for the soda. UNBELIEVABLE!!! read more

Lunch at Sofritos was nothing short of spectacular, just as it always is. From the moment we stepped in, the inviting atmosphere and the rich aromas of the kitchen set the tone for what would be a delightful culinary experience. We kicked off our meal with some refreshing bubbly that sparkled in our glasses, adding a celebratory touch to the occasion. The standout dish was undoubtedly the delightful croquetas. Each bite was a perfect blend of creamy, savory goodness, and they were complemented by a zesty dipping sauce that intensified the flavors. But the real highlight was the amazing arepa. Stuffed to perfection, it was a harmonious mix of textures and flavors that transported us straight to culinary bliss. The warmth of the arepa coupled with the fresh ingredients made it feel like a warm embrace on a plate. As we enjoyed our light lunch, we exchanged stories and laughter, feeling rejuvenated and energized for the rest of the day. There's something incredibly uplifting about a meal shared with good company, and nothing beats the vibrant charm of Sofritos to kickstart our afternoon. #Florida #Orlando #yelpelite #sofritoslatincafe read more

I went to Sofrito Latin Cafe for lunch today and had an incredible experience. This place knows how to make real Latin food that hits all the right spots - everything was fresh, flavorful, and made you feel like family. I tried the churrasco steak with yuca and maduros. The steak was perfectly grilled with a nice char on the outside but still juicy inside. It came with this amazing chimichurri sauce that had just the right amount of garlic and herbs. The yuca was creamy and buttery, and those sweet plantains were caramelized to perfection. Even though it was busy during lunch rush, the energy was positive and welcoming. What impressed me was the attention to detail. My coffee came in a proper cup and saucer, the bread was warm, and everything was seasoned perfectly. You can taste the difference when people take pride in their cooking. For $19, I got a huge meal that was restaurant quality but felt homemade. I'm already telling my friends about this place - it's exactly what Orlando needs more of. read more

A special shout-out to Christian for his attentiveness, professionalism, and excellent customer service. He made us feel genuinely welcomed and ensured everything was perfect throughout our visit. We visited this place three years ago and had a fantastic experience, so we were excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. When we ordered lunch to go, we encountered several issues during pickup, but we assumed it was just a one-time problem. We decided to give it another try and came in for dinner today. Sadly, things only got worse. Winni took our order incorrectly, was noticeably rude, and overcharged us. When we asked her to correct the mistake, she responded with an attitude rather than an apology. When the food finally arrived, it was extremely bland and lacked any flavor. To top it off, we ordered dessert, but it was never brought out--we had to specifically ask for it. Overall, this visit was nothing like our first and left us very disappointed. We do not recommend this place anymore. read more

For starters, don't expect a server, you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Ordered a steak dish and the pice was small and dry after I wanted it cooked medium. The small piece I got was $15 for lunch. *Important - Do not take your significant other to this place! Gentleman at the counter kept pushing salsa dance lessons and after 3 times of my wife telling him no thank you, he asked if she was Puerto Rican and then followed that up with asking if her and I were together. Seriously guy? Unbelievable experience, my wife and I will not be back. read more

I recently discovered a fantastic Cuban restaurant located close to Disney, thanks to a colleague who took me there. I ordered a Cuban Sandwich and was blown away by how delicious it tasted. The portion size was generous and the price was reasonable. The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with meat. I also had a Cheese Empanada which came with a delicious cilantro sauce. The service at the restaurant was quick and efficient, and the ambiance was relaxed and comfortable. I definitely plan to return to this restaurant in the future. read more

There are many options for Latino food in Florida. Being a chef and one that cooks and eats this type of cuisine regularly, I can be critical at time. This was not bad at all. But I was genuinely excited for this meal. I'm a Rick Bayless fan and own all his cookbooks, so there was a little more anticipation involved than "please bring me food." I live in Texas and know my way around Mexican food and Tex-Mex, but I came in expecting something different. The restaurant is beautiful, the service was good, and we were well taken care of. The food, overall, was just okay for me, with a few highlights. The queso fundido was excellent. Great flavor, plus those long strings of cheese that turn eating into a small arts-and-crafts project. There were three of us, and it arrived with exactly three tortillas. The tortilla-to-person math was flawless. The tortilla-to-cheese ambition needed work. We asked for more, and they were quickly brought over, so consider this your friendly tip to request extras. I didn't need a huge entrée, so I went with the chicken flautas. These were really good, although the chicken had an unexpectedly creamy texture. Not what I anticipated, but I liked it. My bigger issue was the pile of extras on top. At some point, I wanted to politely ask the toppings to step aside so I could taste my flautas. Also, try the mango-infused iced tea. Really refreshing in the Florida heat, and one of my favorite parts of the meal. Apparently, I came for Rick Bayless and left thinking about tea. I'm glad I tried it. Beautiful setting, good service, excellent queso, and some enjoyable bites, but the meal as a whole didn't leave me eager to return.
