Pescatarian Verdict: No Pescatarian Options; Many…read moreVegetarian Options I consider myself a St. Louis Foodie Expert. I know of a LOT of restaurants. And yet St. Louis continues to humble me by producing little gems I somehow haven't heard of. Like this one... Bar Roma. I don't even know if this place is new, but apparently it has been quietly doing its thing in Affton while the rest of us were busy taking pictures of restaurants with 47,000 Instagram followers. This spot has zero social media. I ordered the spinach and feta omelette, but let's talk about the real deal hashbrowns. These are the hashbrowns I want when I order hashbrowns. Shredded. Fluffy. Crispy. Not swimming in grease. This spot managed to make them crispy without being oily, which should not be as difficult as restaurants make it. So glad I stumbled upon you Bar Roma.

Old men drinking coffee and reading, workers who looked like they've been there 40+ years, and delicious breakfast food. It's cozy, nostalgic and tasty. The best pancakes I have ever eaten. Period. No contest. How's that for a starter? And it's…read moretrue. We were driving thru St. Louis en route to Arizona and, with a long drive ahead, wanted to meet our daughter for a quick breakfast as she happened to be in the St. Louis area to visit a friend as well. We identified Sunny Street via Yelp (duh) as a convenient place to meet, and boy were we not disappointed. Shout out to our server (name unknown) for pushing me to order more than I needed so I could taste the pancakes because that made the meal. To start, daughter and her friend both ordered the hearty breakfast with chocolate chip pancakes. Both enjoyed their meals, and said the pancakes were great. Wife ordered the same but with plain pancakes and liked that as well. Her bacon (which of course she didn't finish) was terrific. I was torn - I really wanted the country omelette which is basically the western plus sausage gravy with a biscuit but the bananas foster pancakes sounded so good. Our server convinced me to just go nuts and order the omelette and add half an order of pancakes. Her upsell training was on point, because the add wasn't cheap but indeed I needed to taste them. And like I said . . . . Best. Pancakes. Ever. The omelette was great. The biscuit was just ok. The pancakes were indescribably amazing. And I've had my fair share of pancakes of all types shapes and sizes. These are #1. Service was great, the restaurant is in a nice strip mall in a good area of town. It was busy but without a wait around 9:30am on a Saturday. If I lived in St. Louis I'd return often. Probably too often. This is a highly recommend.

Within minutes, Mary, my server, came and greeted me. I gave her my entire order ( big bite breakfast: scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, peppers, and spinach, sourdough toast, fruit, and chicken sausage, and a Bellini. To my disbelief, everything arrived within minutes! Trust, I was not complaining! The first couple bites of my eggs were quite splendid! They were cheesy, and filled with plenty of spinach and peppers as I had requested. I loved that the sourdough wasn't rock hard and already came buttered. That will forever be a win in my book. Usually I'll put some type of syrup on my meat, but the chicken sausage was fine without it. It had a nice flavor and was well-seasoned. Last but not least was the peach Bellini, which wasn't too sweet, but was refreshing and the perfect accompaniment for my breakfast aside from the water. Overall, I really enjoyed my first visit and must highlight the exemplary service from Mary and the staff. The quick turn around and good food sold me, so rest assured I'll be back!

Time for a Brunch Review! First I must say that bad reviews should be read, but in nearly all of…read morethem I have read, should be ignored. This is a restaurant. All restaurants have bad days and that must be taken into account. Now, for a GOOD review: The service is great! Our hostess, Taylor, was very pleasant and sat us right away in a good spot. She made sure that our server was with us almost immediately. Thanks, Taylor! Our server, Coleen, was very nice and informative. She checked with us just often enough to be attentive and genuinely concerned about our food and our enjoyment of it. Thanks, Colleen! My wife ordered the Windsor French Toast, which had fresh strawberries and blueberries with a sweet and yummy cheese spread on top. The perfect brunch dish! I got the fried Catfish and Fries - I'm from the South ( the Carolinas ) and we sometimes have catfish for breakfast, so this was my brunch item. The catfish was AWESOME! Very mild and tasty breading. I'm not usually a big fan of Tartar Sauce, but once I tried it, I had to put a little on every bite. The fries were some of the best I have ever had! Crispy coated and tasted like they were deep fried in butter!! Ask your server how they do this ;) - The ambiance is fantastic! A bit close quartered in some spots, but there is a lot of alternative seating, so you can be comfortable. The outdoor seating is really nice. I love this place. I highly recommend it. I want to give Taylor and Colleen my personal SIX Stars ****** for making our visit amazing. And special kudos to the kitchen staff for making such great food! Please do yourself a favor and EAT HERE!!!
