We've driven by this bbq place so many times, we finally decided to stop. We enjoyed our meals. The pork steak had quite a bit of fat, but that's not a deal breaker. The sauce was pretty good. The baked sweet potato was really big, and breakfast the next day! The pulled pork sandwich was very good, as were the sides. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food is yummy every time. Service can be slow when they get slammed, but that is part of the charm, come in relax and let someone else do the cooking. This is a great place to eat if you're in the area! The food is delicious. Service is good. And it's just a nice place to go - you can sit inside and watch tv on a game day or sit outside under their newly renovated covered patio area! Prices are decent. Parking is very ample. The menu has lots of choices. I'm a fan of their burgers...and FRIED MUSHROOMS! It's so hard to find good fried mushrooms, and theirs are great! They also have wonderful apple pie and cheesecake! I sometimes stop in to get food to go. It's a great place to get a meal, and the views alongside the bank of windows if you're at one of the inside tables is nice. You sometimes see deer along the wood line and in the field. If you visit, you'll leave a well fed, happy diner. PS I asked why it's called Smoke 'N Pi...it just is. It also seemed to have been pour straight from a bag. The baked beans were right inline with the meat and coleslaw...just horrible. I almost spit it out. Finally the slice of pecan pie was a joke. It was even close to the size of a standard slice. It looked deformed. See the picture of how it arrived at the table. The food I am sorry to say was just average. My wife and I ordered the sirloin steak medium doneness. It had no pink at all. We should have ordered bbq being a place for bbq. The baked beans weren't that good. On the other hand the pork french fries were very good. The baked potatoes were large and the salad was good. I mentioned to the server it was my wife's birthday. The service made this place absolutely miserable. We came hereon Mother's Day (I know what you're going to say, bold move) but there was a very normal amount of people here, nothing crazy, not even considered crowded. First off, we kept sipping up plastic in our drinks. Literal plastic. Apparently, they got new cups and failed to wash them before sending them out for customers. Red flag number one, was there only response was: "want me to get you a new one?" yes actually, that seems pretty clear...? After no one came by, my brother-in-law got refills for everyone. Nobody questioned or came over to ask if we needed anything, they just watched. Half of our table got food, we were missing silverware so we just sat there after asking for forks. After another 5 minutes of sitting in front of our food, we went inside to grab some from a waiter. We started eating and that when we realized half of our table was STILL missing food. 15 minutes pass, half of us are done eating and we go inside to ask an ETA on the other 4 meals we were missing...they said it's coming. Well would you believe it? Another 10 minutes go by before finally getting our food. The waiters (when asked where our food was) said "I don't want to get in the middle of anything, I'm not sure you'll have to ask your waiter." After finally getting our food, the burgers were dry and the fries had a sweet sugary seasoning absolutely smothering them. Sides were wrong and the "bacon" was literally jerky. Basically, it was sitting under a lamp for a bit too long.. When going to restaurants, it's always the rule to pay no matter the service or taste, but when we got our bills, I was genuinely surprised not a single drink (once again, filled with pieces of plastic) or side of fries was paid for by the restaurant. Stopped by on a U-Turn! So glad we turned around. The restaurant is immediately welcoming when you walk in. It just feels like family. You seat yourself and they come take your order pretty quickly. The waitress was very busy but attentive and everything went smoothly. We had: The triple bacon double cheese burger- this burger was advertised to have bacon strips and queso cheese. My first thought was this sounds good but I bet it's going to be so messy. Most places who put cheese sauce on a burger do too much and you can't even eat it. Not this burger, it was perfectly built and could be handheld. Next time I will order it medium though. I like a little pink. The bacon was this thick, candied bacon that was amazing!! Appetizers- mushrooms, chicken stripped, battered candied bacon. Amazing!! Everything is hand battered and not frozen. They hand cut the chicken as well. So good. We also got pretzel bites which appeared to be fried. They were so soft and yummy with so much flavor. The owner came and checked on us and told us about the history of the restaurant. I got a pizza and dragon dual platter and I definitely don't recommend any of it. Potatoes burnt to hell and soggy I will admit it was to go but jeez why does it have to be so burnt? Chicken was so tough and rubbery with weird barbecue sauce I didn't know it came with. Doesn't say on menu that it comes with sauce so if you don't like ketchup like barbecue sauce don't get it. Pulled pork was alright probably the best thing. The pizza sauce was so sweet and didn't taste too good. Asked for ranch also with pizza didn't receive that probably wouldn't have helped anyway. Also was told to wait 5 minutes for the pizza after ordering 40 minutes ahead and then had to wait another 20 minutes with no communication. The cherry on top of it all is the pricing on the online menu isn't the same as in store and didn't inform me on the price change until I got home with a menu and realized everything is different. Just horrible don't recommend going at all. Go to McDonald's over this place atleast you know what you are gonna get and better quality and better pricing. Ate here today, 6/29/24. All I can say is wow. Absolutly zero Smoke Ring on the Chicken, very little Smoke Ring and little to no Bark on the Brisket. Both were tough, no smoke"ish" flavor and came slathered with BBQ sauce. Believe me, it needed to have BBQ sauce on it, needed more than they put on it for me to continue to eat it (good BBQ doesn't need Sauce), but I percivered and ate it without extra. It's been my experience, that when a BBQ shack covers up their meat with BBQ Sauce, they're hiding something. In this case, Cafe Smoke N-PI has lied. They bake their BBQ. As for the sides, their Country Cheesy Fries, a for sure must have, Cole Slaw is Vinagar based in taste and then some, loved the sides. Service was as good as it get's, Adequate staff and attentive to my dinning need's. Well planned seating arangment's and a friendly seat yourself attitude. Very well put together restraunt, has covered outdoor section, ample parking, decor theme is eclectic and the Bar looked like a wonderful place to beat the heat. When first entering the front doors your left to figure out for yourself how to navigate the confusing interior due to the staffs unwillingness to greet the costumers. After five minutes of standing at the front door and two employees walking past me without any acknowledgment of my existence, I found my way to the back of the diner where costumers are to place their order. This part of the experience was a joke. Six under age teenagers with no organizational skills and serious lack of professional conduct with costumers will reluctantly take your order. No smile, or nice greeting. Just,"What will you have". This had a high school cafeteria feel. The menus. Lol well there's no shortage of that. Tacky decore had their menu plastered everywhere except the floors. After placing your order; which is shouted across the kitchen to the "chefs", without any directions, you are to collect your beverage, silverware and seat yourself. Once again non-helpful non-directional staff. As for the food. I've seen better from a hospital cafeteria. The steak fajita was poorly portioned and full of grease on an over cook tortilla. Cost $9. The pollo alfredo looked like something you would pour out of a can of dog food and served in a dog bowel. Cost $13.99. During my meal the teenage staff was very annoying with their loud conversations heard from all the way in the back of the kitchen.
