We are from Chicago and went to redwood forest . whenever we are away from home , we enjoy other cuisines and specially love Thai Food as it is close to our taste buds. This was the first time in years that I was actually craving for a home cooked meal which is obviously not possible when you are on vacation. Anyhow we were driving through Chico and I randomly searched for Pakistani cuisine and it gave me an option which was 10 minutes drive from our hotel. Chicago has many halal Pakistani restaurants and we were so done eating g out as they are really very oily plus spicy and I don't find it healthy. We still took a chance here and visited this place with no high hopes. it was a weekend night and the place was full of people but the host cleaned a table for two of us . After taking order she did mention it would be 20-25 minute wait but since we were in no rush and tired we sat there patiently as we were already enjoying the ambience . The entire time while we were waiting for the food I was in awe to see our wonderful host how she was going to g from one table to the other table taking care of customers in such a professional yet homely manner. i did not feel at once that we were in a formal dining. too bad we live in Chicago as I would have to fly to go enjoy her hospitality but my husband and I keep telling people we meet here about this place. The food was one of the best Pakistani food I ever had in 10-12 years in any restaurant. No execration at all. We thoroughly enjoyed our every minute of it. Sofi is an Amazing host, serves great food , the ambiance of her restaurant is top notch. I can't even imagine how she handles everything with smile as it's a pretty tiring job but she is doing g phenomenal. I hardly write any reviews but i was home thinking to cook something and thought about our wonderful experience at Sofi's - it means something . it means that her food reminded me of my home cooked meals. First of all - Sofi'z is beautiful inside! Very clean with unique and fun decor. The owner is lovely and provided excellent service, she introduced herself and made sure we enjoyed everything. I recently stopped at Sofi'z on a whim with my wife as we were passing through Chico, and we were very happily surprised by the whole experience! We were greeted and served by Sofi herself and her passion for her restaurant and it's food was clear. My wife and I shared the Qurma Curry (goat meat) and the Chicken Seekh Kebab along with an order of buttered Paratha and Pakistani Achar pickles. All the food was delicious, and the goat curry really stood out as the highlight. The ambiance was great, the interior was clean and beautifully decorated, and the music was calming. We had such a great experience, Sofi'z now lives on our list of must-visits any time we pass through Chico! read more

This restaurant was gross. I don't know if there's no AC or if it was down but it was pretty hot inside. The food wasn't good, you would think that it would look like the pictures they had on the menu but it came out looking totally different. Food was greasy and the Nan bread was a disappointment . The ambiance is beautiful. We were greeted warmly. The service was fantastic throughout. The service reminded me of the type of service you would get at a mom and pop restaurant when traveling. We were served by the owner who does all the cooking and clearly takes great pride in her food. The food was absolutely delectable. We had tea which was handmade with many spices. The samosas were the best we've had. She brought us another appetizer to try on the house and I don't know the name of it, but it was very interesting and delicious. We had meatball curry and it was incredible. We also had goat curry, which was very tasty. We probably should've ordered something with more of a different sauce because it was similar to the meatball curry. Next time I will try to tikka masala. The saffron rice was delicious and came with the entrées. Prices were respectable. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. read more

This place is amazing! My partner and I went there today for the first time and it was a wonderful experience. We ordered their samosas which had a nice crispy exterior with a flavorful potato filling, and it's paired with a creamy mint yogurt sauce to dip in. For our main courses we ordered the butter chicken, mixed vegetables and butter chicken, and all of them excelled in flavor. The mixed vegetables were my bite of the night. And the owner, who is also the chef, is such a sweet and welcoming person. She came over to our table and shared her story of cooking. You could feel her love for what she does and can sense that her ultimate goal is to provide all of her customers an unforgettable dining experience. Along with the vibrant decor, you feel like you're dining in someone's home and are about to be fed by a longtime friend. I highly recommend you come and dine at Sofi'z. read more

We ordered take-out and had the lamb chops, perfectly cooked and as good as we have ever had, quality meat, and butter chicken, really wonderful, juicy and tender. Portions are large and Sofi is a great hostess/cook. Ingredients are all cooked fresh and we will definitely be back. read more

This place is amazing! The food is phenomenal! We had actually gone to Goji's first, but the owner was just so rude. He dismissed us at first and continued working on his personal dish as we stood there for several minutes. Then someone calls in an order, and he just picks up the phone and hangs up without saying anything to the customer. So this disregard for customers made us leave. Good thing we did, we would not have found this hidden gem. Super friendly, welcoming staff. The local has vibrant, Pakistani colors highlighting their culture. The chutney is amazing; I'm definitely going back! From the drinks to the dessert, this is a unique dining experience in South Asian cuisine (Pakistani). And a great asset to Chico's local international culinary delights. The food was so delicious; to the extent that we over-ordered, and over-ate! We gorged ourselves on three appetizers, two types of bread, and three different meat dishes (chicken, goat, and lamb). Sorry pork lovers, this place serves halal meats only. Went here to eat for the first time last night with my son. Got the butter chicken and rice. The regular naan and the garlic naan. Got veggies somosas and the galup jamun. My son got a mango milkshake. We had her homemade mint sauce. It was so good. The owner sat us and she makes her own food there and she came over and talked to us numerous times. She plans on doing cooking classes at some point and she plans on selling her own spices too. She grinds them herself. Her seating was super comfy and she even put a pillow behind my back to keep me comfy. The ambience was great. Will definitely be back. There are not words to describe how amazing this place is. We ordered 2 sambas, butter chicken, and the lamb chops and garlic nan. The sambas were perfect. Fried to perfection and tasted so good. You know they come fresh from the frier because they are hotter than lava. The butter chicken was so good, it's the familiar flavor that I expect but richer. Great for dipping my nan into. The lamb chops. OMFG!! I have never had better lamb chops in life. Not even a little stringy or gamey. The service was amazing. Everyone was so attentive and listening to what we said. My husband likes food spicy, I do not. So he was brought mint sauce. It is made with Jalapeño. Too spicy for me, but my husband loved it. And the ambiance was so nice. Soft music playing in the back ground. They have decorated for Valentine's Day but it is not obnoxious. It is so tastefully done. I'm so happy I found this place. This is so much more than just a spot to get food. My husband and I were there for at least an hour, relaxing with my chai and enjoying the delicious food. So many spices and flavors in the Tika masala, and some of the best somosa I've ever had. Not only is the food flavorful and in large portions, but the prices were so good we felt that leaving a 15 dollar tip was the least we could do (we are not flippant tippers, usually). The owner came and chatted at our table and the rest of the staff were all welcoming. I'm so glad we have this addition to the Chico food options. read more

The scenery is absolutely beautiful, with such a calm ambiance to it all. A great smell of the food through the whole place. The Daal Goat was presented in an elegant way and spiced perfectly, also pears with their Garlic Naan amazingly. The Chicken Biryani was a great rice dish that manages to work as its own dish and side dish, which is just something so hard to create. It has the perfect spices to work in any way desired. Service was the greatest I think I have ever had here in Chico. She was such a kind woman and truly put the time to ensure we enjoyed everything we came there for. Her humor was funny and gentle, making it feel just like a home. Even after the meal we were offered treats like mints, lollipops, toothpicks, and some seeds to help with digestion. The little "false" bird was beautiful - notable spending too much on her rear feathers!
